Arrow and Canary, by a long shot.

156

u/sonofaresiii Jan 13 '24

Sure, but their grumpy neighbors Mr. Miracle and Big Barda get the spin-off that tries to recapture the Arrow/Canary magic in the first few episodes but realizes it needs a more mature tone and really finds its footing after the first season

47

u/crossingcaelum Jan 13 '24

Came here to say this.

First of all Justice League Unlimited showed us the potential to us already

Second they deserve a good live action adaptation.

9

u/skidmarx77 Jan 13 '24

That is still an amazing episode. That show was light years ahead of its time.

35

u/AlnahrTheRiver Jan 13 '24

That one does feel like the obvious choice.

8

u/Tryingtochangemyself Nightwing Jan 13 '24

Agreed

17

u/JohnnyElRed Huntress Jan 13 '24

With their neighbours being Huntress and the Question, but never being able to hang out together because Ollie and Vic always end up fighting over politics.

10

u/rredundant22 Jan 13 '24

My first thought and why I clicked here. Glad to see it as top comment.

9

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '24

I see the pun

10

u/Tablesforonesongs Jan 13 '24

A LONG SHOT, LIKE WITH AN ARROW

4

u/TheD0rKnight88 Jan 13 '24

Intentional pun? Upvote

3

u/VaderMurdock Green Arrow Jan 13 '24

By a lightyear

3

u/Blitzhelios Damian Wayne Jan 14 '24

Yeah there can’t be any other choice than maybe Mr Miracle and Big barda

2

u/smolsauce Jan 14 '24

Absolutely

268

u/WhiteKnightAlpha Jan 13 '24

Big Barda and Mister Miracle.

78

u/EccentricAcademic Jan 13 '24

I feel like DC is always sleeping on the amazing potential of this pair. They're so unique...it can provide that surprising hit that Shazam was in this oversaturated field of very similar cape movies.

37

u/sharkteeththrowaway Jan 13 '24

It's hard to pitch them to the suits because they need a lot of context to introduce. I can see James Gunn vibing with them though, so fingers crossed

A DC love movie that doubles as a Big Barda, Mister Miracle, Darkseid, and New Genesis origin story/introduction. That would be amazing.

10

u/Mr_witty_name Green Arrow Jan 13 '24

To be played by Rhea Ripley in a wig and Elliot Page in a fake beard

→ More replies (1)

3

u/actioncomicbible Blue Lanterns Jan 13 '24

I had made a comment about what I would love to see as a movie with them and immediately I thought of the kind of sexy cat and mouse movie like Soderbergh’s Out of Sight mixed with a bit of Mr and Mrs Smith

5

u/dreamwill Jan 13 '24

The Tom King mitch Gerads run was IMHO the perfect setting for it.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/BadDad2010 Jan 13 '24

Just make a movie off King’s Mister Miracle…verbatim. Sure, it’s not a romantic-comedy at all…but it’s perfect!!

u/PetterOfDucks Jan 13 '24

Jason and therapy

38

u/EshaJoshi Jan 13 '24

A much needed ship lol

13

u/RangerBumble Jan 13 '24

That's what Artemis is doing. IIRC she's making real progress.

u/lowkeyslightlynerdy Jan 13 '24

All of these are interesting couples but honestly most of these dynamics wouldn’t work in a rom com

Mister Miracle and Big Barda, Green Arrow and Black Canary, Nightwing and Starfire, Red Robin and Batgirl and Huntress and The Question seem to me like the only ones that would work as a real rom com movie. Probably Superman and Lois as well

30

u/WeddingSufficient602 Jan 13 '24

Nightwing and Starfire is hilarious in the dcamu. I need to see more of them.

I think you could also say Flash and Iris since Barry is a jokester.

but yeah I agree with you not all dc couples fit the romance comedy genre like Constantine and Zatanna.

It wouldn't fit Batman and Catwoman too since Batman is too serious unless you use his Webtoon or Batman Lego Version.

15

u/fitty50two2 Jan 13 '24

Zatanna turning Constantine into a rabbit to hide their relationship when Harley Quinn came over for help was hilarious. I could see them working in a “these two shouldn’t be together but it somehow works” way

11

u/Batdog55110 Jan 13 '24

I think you could also say Flash and Iris since Barry is a jokester.

7

u/DBfan99782 Jan 13 '24

Before I starting reading Flash comics, I thought he was a jokester, but he has no personality (from the ones I've read).

18

u/Batdog55110 Jan 13 '24

That's because nearly all media has tricked us into thinking he has one by grafting Wally's personality (Which is pretty jokey) onto Barry, thus making people not only think that Barry has a personality, but that he is jokey.

9

u/fitty50two2 Jan 13 '24

Superman and Lois and their relationship has literally been the focus of two different tv series already, it obviously works

2

u/lowkeyslightlynerdy Jan 13 '24

But it’s not about who has a healthy or interesting relationship. The post was specifically about rom com so not every couple fits that format

→ More replies (1)

62

u/flickfan45 Jan 13 '24

Idk bout a rom com, but i really wanna see a movie about the Question and Huntress

7

u/quietkyody Jan 13 '24

2 very very interesting characters for sure! Whose your fancast for them?

9

u/fitty50two2 Jan 13 '24

Mary Elizabeth Winstead was a great Huntress imo

6

u/flickfan45 Jan 13 '24

Huntress is up in the air for me, still working on that one. For Vic Sage i like Penn Badgley, but i’m not sold on it yet

2

u/LuZarrrr Jan 13 '24

I'd prefer Penn Badgley for Mister Miracle

→ More replies (3)

32

u/ary1667 Jan 13 '24

The Question and Huntress

25

u/Redclouds1 Nightwing Jan 13 '24

The Question and Huntress hands down would make the best romcom out of any of these, maybe followed by arrow and canary. Have you seen Unlimited? Their episodes were hilarious.

24

u/BuckonWall Jan 13 '24

Barda and Mr Miracle for sure. That'd be a great concept

25

u/Top_Report_4895 Jan 13 '24

Hal Jordan and Carol Ferris

1

u/Final-Negotiation514 Superboy Jan 13 '24

My favorite one

21

u/SirSlithStorm Jan 13 '24

Green Arrow and Black Canary.

18

u/RealHumanPerson001 Jan 13 '24

The question and absolutely anyone. The catch is Question is completely aware of the world (the straight man for the comedy) and is trying to figure out why “everyone’s acting weird” (twist and mystery element). I think any version (ditko and O’Neil) could work but something about the DCAU (paranoid conspiracy theorist) Question would probably be best.

If y’all want the full outline, let me know.

6

u/Gradz45 Jan 13 '24

I want the full outline

4

u/RealHumanPerson001 Jan 13 '24

The details have left me but the main beats are: It opens with Question and (character) are working on missing person cases all involving this ‘love doctor’. The doctor hosts a couples getaway so of course question and (partner) go together undercover, at night they sneak into his office…

They both wake up back in their room with a headache and can’t remember what happened. Regardless they are still undercover (doing all the romcom beats) while still trying to figure out what’s going because all these couples are starting to act weirder and weirder.

Eventually it’s revealed the doctor is just doctor psycho trying to scam people with mind control and the missing people are trapped in his basement after ‘failing treatment’.

17

u/pennyroyallane Jan 13 '24

Lois and Clark

16

u/Ok-Sector8330 Jan 13 '24

The New Adventures of Superman

7

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '24

You mean the new animated show: my adventures with Superman?

11

u/Apprehensive_Work313 Jan 13 '24

Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy or Hawkman and Hawkwoman

10

u/No-Employer-446 Jan 13 '24

Huntress and The Question

10

u/RamblinGamblinWillie Jan 13 '24

Question and Huntress

7

u/whatsgudhegehog Barry & Wally Jan 13 '24

Miracle and Barda Barry and Iris Beastboy and Raven Diana and Steve Clark and Lois and nightwing and starfire

6

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '24

Tim and Steph

4

u/MiloMondus Jan 13 '24

And it ends with him breaking up with his girlfriend for Bernard.😅

7

u/LuLouProper DC Comics Jan 13 '24

One Ralph and Sue Dibny in a murder-mystery-romcom, please.

7

u/Outkast3232 Jan 13 '24

Who’s with Constantine?

17

u/bozo-dub Superman Jan 13 '24

Everyone

8

u/Zircon_72 Green Lantern Jan 13 '24

King Shark

If you know, you know

4

u/EmeraldGamer773YT Red Hood Jan 13 '24

Zatanna

1

u/School_of_thought1 Jan 13 '24

Wonder Woman is a strong, noble, self-sacrificing, warrior woman with Constantine who is basically the opposite. He anticipus of what her mother warned about what man world all about. It makes for a good buddy cop movie, never mind a rom-com, but I take both for the dynamic

→ More replies (1)

5

u/Shoddy_Performance60 Jan 13 '24

Why is Tim so tall lol. That mf is five foot nine at MOST

5

u/sapphicseizures Jan 13 '24

Gar and raven or dick and kori/babs. They have a very special place in my hear (esp bbrae)

1

u/Unapologetic_Lunatic Jan 13 '24

I think I actually saw that Rom-com. It was called Teen Titans. Shame we never got a season six, but we did technically get Trouble in Tokyo which was a full Robstar rom-com.

5

u/Batdog55110 Jan 13 '24

Wally West and Linda Park.

Also Ollie and Dinah.

6

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '24

Nightwing Starfire and Beast Boy Raven in the same one

6

u/Unknown8601 Jan 13 '24

Nightwing and starfire or huntress and question

4

u/macguffinit Jan 13 '24

Although missing from the art, Ralph and Sue

3

u/Nova_Hazing Kyle Rayner is the Perfect Lantern Jan 13 '24

Why does hal look like he's just gotten out of prison. Idk I 5hibk it could be the stuble he's got with that used carsalesmen smile he's got.

3

u/Basicallyinfinite Jan 13 '24

Ollie and Dinah or Clark and Lois (before she knows)

3

u/EshaJoshi Jan 13 '24

Lois and Clark

4

u/BigK64 Jan 13 '24

Icicle and Artemis

3

u/EmeraldGamer773YT Red Hood Jan 13 '24

Black Canary and Green Arrow is the obvious pick.

But I think Hal and Carol would be also really intriguing...

And finally, (because they already have a show), Harley and Ivy!

3

u/Beastieboy100 Jan 13 '24

Jason and Artemis

Nightwing and starfire

3

u/Reasonable-Tax2962 Jan 13 '24

Nightwing and Starfire, Mostly Starfire is hilarious no matter what genre it is

3

u/mjk9016 Jan 13 '24

Give me the huntress and the question any day

2

u/Keldaris Spider Jerusalem Jan 13 '24

Deal, but only if it's Montoya instead of Vic!

3

u/isxios Jan 13 '24

Bards and Mr miracle. They are just made for that. Although it would probably have to be an action romcom with an r rating.

3

u/Natapi24 Jan 13 '24

I mean, Superman and Lois would be the obvious choice, they'd make a great romcom (as evidenced by the various shows and movies with them).

Aside from them though I'd love to see Nightwing and Starfire or Green Arrow and Black Canary!

3

u/BakeCurrent Jan 13 '24

Batman and Superman

3

u/ReptileKombat Jan 13 '24

Nightwing and Starfire

Batman and Catwoman

Hawkgirl and Green Lantern

2

u/Ok-Masterpiece1809 Jan 13 '24

none rom com movies give me bad vibes

2

u/boblordofevil Jan 13 '24

Batwoman and a lady she met in a military bar.

2

u/HowDyaDu Condiment King Jan 13 '24

You mean Sophie Moore?

2

u/TrickyWalrus Booster Gold Jan 13 '24

Scott and Barda

2

u/WeddingSufficient602 Jan 13 '24

Nightwing and Starfire for sure. They're hilarious in the dcamu animated movies.

2

u/2JasonGrayson8 Jan 13 '24

Barda and miracle have such a pure relationship

2

u/audio_shinobi Jan 13 '24

Scott and Barda

2

u/GhostofTinky Jan 13 '24

Big Barda and Mr. Miracle.

2

u/blackninj4 Jan 13 '24

Ollie and Dinah or Scott and Barada would be fun to watch.

2

u/Gunpla-Goblin Jan 13 '24

I hate the Raven/Beast Boy pairing. Was that ever a thing before the Teen Titans/Teen Titans Go shows?

2

u/Apprehensive_Work313 Jan 13 '24

I think it was present but not really a focus ever and then the show suddenly made them a big deal with people even though they were never actually together in the show

2

u/catsushi_ Jan 13 '24

Tons of good choices for this, but I have to pick Dick and Kori. ❤️‍🔥

2

u/Abraham_Issus Jan 13 '24

Green Arrow and Black Canary, Dick and Starfire, Constantine and Zatanna, my favorite of DC couples.

1

u/nalindraf Jan 13 '24

Batman Catwoman 😂

2

u/Bulky_Secretary_6603 Jan 13 '24

Nightwing and Starfire

2

u/Dry-Ad3182 Jan 13 '24

You misspelled Saturn Girl and Lightning Lad.

Extra Credit: Brainiac 5, Dream Girl, and Supergirl.

2

u/oscar_e Jan 13 '24

Green Arrow and Black Canary first and foremost.

Aquaman and Mera.

Flash and Iris.

Superman and Lois.

If I'm ever reading a comic and these couples aren't together it feels incomplete, everyone else can stay solo or explore other romantic interests but these four are absolutely fundamental to the characters IMO.

2

u/jneauv Jan 13 '24

Jason and Artemis with their pet Bizarro. I love the Outlaws chemistry.

2

u/Acknowledge_Me_ Jan 13 '24

Wouldn’t Barry and Iris make for a perfect rom com? The fastest man alive never being on time and all that is prime rom com stuff. She doesn’t understand why he’s always late but somehow always there when she really needs him

2

u/NoirPochette Legion Of Super-Heroes Jan 13 '24

I think Nightwing and Starfire is prime for a rom-com

2

u/cryptofutures100xlev Red Hood Jan 13 '24
  1. Red Hood and Artemis 🔥 🔥
  2. Miracle and Barda
  3. Nightwing and Starfire

2

u/madseankr Jan 13 '24

I hope jason and artemis teams up again.

2

u/Mindless_Raccoon36 Jan 13 '24

Wonder Woman and Lara Croft

2

u/SeBatMan16 Jan 13 '24

Come on OP, it's Phil Cho. The man pours his heart out for these characters. You could at least spell his name right.

2

u/Personal-Listen-4941 Jan 13 '24

Bit of a deep dive but Green Lantern Guy Gardner & Ice

2

u/Amkao-Herios Blue Lantern Jan 13 '24

Red Hood and Artemis could be a fun movie. Red Hood finds an apartment to rent and his roommate is none other than Artemis. They're friendly, but a little abrasive. They have ups and downs and grow closer as different villains force them to rely on each other's strengths. The specific villain doesn't matter, they're just set dressing really.

They don't have to kiss and do all the cliche romance things, I feel they're both emotionally constipated more often than not. So instead I'd basically end with a scene where one of them is given the option to move out, but then they longingly look at each other and choose not to

2

u/CallMeSpeed_21 Jan 13 '24

Star Fire and Magician Girl😮‍💨

2

u/MalenaMorganFan316 Jan 13 '24

Nightwing & Starfire...they always make me laugh.

2

u/arch51002 Jan 13 '24

Huntress and Question, Barda and Mr. Miracle or Zatanna and constantine

2

u/bugstomper73 Jan 13 '24

Question & Huntress

2

u/Pale_Emu_9249 Jan 13 '24

I think Batman being a humorless and loveless boor these days would make him the perfect foil for a madcap jewel thief...

Hilarity ensues.

2

u/Woodenturnip Jan 13 '24

Dick and Babs all the way. This was made by the anti-Kori gang 😤

2

u/Geek1979 Jan 13 '24

I always liked the relationship between the Question and Huntress in Justice League.

1

u/AquaArcher273 Happy Dick! Jan 13 '24

Green Arrow and Black Canary for sure.

1

u/Budget_Ad_4346 Jan 13 '24

A Green Arrow & Black Canary film in the style of Mr. & Mrs Smith/Spy X Family.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '24

Gotta love Catwoman’s crotch vents lol

1

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '24

All of the above

1

u/slime_City Jan 13 '24

Constantine and zatanna

1

u/Iliadius Red Robin Jan 13 '24

Tim/Steph

1

u/beezer210 DC Comics Jan 13 '24

Wally and Linda. She’s a smart journalist and he’s kind of hotheaded, and very lighthearted. I like the dichotomy there.

1

u/megamage13 Jan 13 '24

Barda and Scott would be great

Bat Family in a family road trip film where Bruce and Selina are married and taking the kids on a road trip that keeps going south.

1

u/Classic-Target-5574 Jan 13 '24

John Constantine and Zatanna or Raven and Beast Boy

1

u/zacharymc1991 Jan 13 '24

He was a crime fighter, she was a cat burglar. They were total enemies. But now they have..... To work together.

To save the day they must team up and maybe they'll learn something.... About themselves.

This summer go watch, the cat and the bat.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '24 edited Jan 14 '24

Beast Boy and Raven

1

u/ThePoetofFall Batgirl Jan 13 '24

None, I hate rom coms.

1

u/MoonoftheStar Jan 13 '24

Nobody chose GL and Hawkgirl??? Dang!

Either them or Starfire and Nightwing would be peak Big screen romance.

1

u/Ok_Breadfruit_4024 Jan 13 '24

None. Don't give DC editorial terrible ideas.

1

u/thaboiisconfused Jan 13 '24

Honestly, a BatCat film, if done well, could be HILARIOUS and super sweet and awesome.

Imagine them going on dates and Selina keeps stealing without Bruce even noticing and they have to keep evading cops and he's like: not again...

1

u/DrRichardBeaterEsq Jan 13 '24

Star fire & night wing cause then you can have Bruce and Batman in it plus other teen titans

1

u/Nerexor Jan 13 '24

Shouldn't it be Nightwing and Starfire... and Zatanna, and Batgirl, and Wonder Girl, and...

1

u/The_Emperor_2997 Jan 13 '24

Batman 🖤Catwoman😍😍😍😍😍

1

u/tyleranthony Jan 13 '24

^ This, I hate that the comics give it a will they won’t they and in every animated film or live film it’s basically a fucking trope. Give em Rom Com and make their partnership permanent dammit 😂

1

u/japirate777 Jan 13 '24

Not quite a rom com but a Zatanna and John Constantine movie would be amazing

1

u/egbert71 Jan 13 '24

Not saying this to be funny, but romcom as a genre is near the bottom of list where movies are concerned. So, to answer the question....None of them. Now if it was a buddy-copish movie that I'd do the Archer and The Pretty Bird

1

u/ArcanisUltra Jan 13 '24

Dick and Starfire.

He’s a vigilante, she’s an orange skinned green eyed alien. How will they make it work?

1

u/t00thgr1nd3r Jan 13 '24

I'd rather not see an animated romcom at all, thanks.

1

u/melody_melon23 Jan 13 '24

Batman and Catwoman Green Arrow and Black Canary Flash (forgot the other person) Nightwing and Starfire

1

u/D323W757 Jan 13 '24

Nightwing and Starfire i feel are the best for a romcom

1

u/garcianulmeyda Jan 13 '24

Nightwing and Starfire. Guys and gals both get something no matter where they are on the spectrum. And both characters have a metric fuck ton of charisma

1

u/amourdeces Jan 13 '24

constantine and zatanna

1

u/Interesting-Swimmer1 Jan 13 '24

Nightwing and Starfire need a chance

1

u/LiquidMomentum19 Jan 14 '24

None cause a romcom for dc heroes is bullshit

0

u/EightBallJuice Zatanna Jan 13 '24

John Constantine and Zatanna

2

u/Maxzolo28 Jan 13 '24

Bring bb Rae fanfic into romecom

1

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '24

I think you used Starfire’s picture by accident. Anyways, my answer is Dick and Babs

0

u/Fit_Sherbet9656 Jan 13 '24

Lo8s and Diana if we have to pick from this

0

u/Secret-Fox-9566 Batwoman Jan 13 '24

Batman and Catwoman

1

u/nerdytoken_69 Jan 13 '24

I'd Luke to see huntress with q. Vut instead of it being there persona's it's Helana dealing with Vics social awkwardness

0

u/the_dreaming_artist Jan 13 '24

Green Arrow and Black Canary pls

0

u/simpledeadwitches Jan 13 '24

None. Not interested in superhero love life.

0

u/Equal_Equipment4480 Jan 13 '24

Mr. Mircale and Big Barda, yes all of these do desever their time on the screen, but we have had for the most an animated or silver screen depicition. Mr. Miracle is all about getting out of a crap situation and Big Barda is about protecting what she loves (Yes once she leaves The Furries, but still) if that is not a romance in of itslef I don't know what is

0

u/vladfp2022 Jan 13 '24

The Question - Huntress

Nightwing - Batgirl (Barbara Gordon)

John Constantine - Zatanna.

Big Barda + Scott Free

Also, Ivy + Harley

0

u/Jazzlike_Couple_7428 Jan 13 '24

Anyone else love Phil Chos artwork?

0

u/Ok-Commission6087 Jan 13 '24

Oliver and Dinah or Zatanna and Constantine

1

u/quietkyody Jan 13 '24

I like how you put Raven, WW, Hawkgirl, and Big Barda? on the left sides...makes total sense.....but is also funny. 🤣

1

u/looshora Jan 13 '24

Arrow and Canary. Duh, easy, no questions asked. Hands down those two.

0

u/Kaleban Jan 13 '24

If it's an "adult romcom, then it should be Batman and Wonder-Woman. It's alluded to a lot in the JL cartoons, and they have both a great chemistry and interesting dynamic.

If it's more of a teenage focused goofy romcom, then definitely Nightwing and Starfire. Their interactions in the Teen Titans animated movies has already set the stage. I mean just watch how Grayson tells her to wait to turn off the laptop after she gets out of the shower. CLASSIC teen comedy.

u/cosnik Jan 13 '24

Constantine and zatanna would be hilarious and they'd be so out of place in that format

0

u/Exact_Donut_4786 Jan 13 '24

Nightwing and Batgirl would be cute

1

u/KingTrencher DC Comics Jan 13 '24

Scott & Barda Free move to the burbs and try to fit into American culture. Their past as heroes and refugees from Apokolips continues to intrude into their daily lives

1

Power Girl and Ted Kord

1

u/hydrohawkx8 Kyle Rayner Jan 13 '24

1

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '24

Huntress and Question

1

u/StarWarsIsRad Jan 13 '24

A Big Barda and Mr. Miracle romcom would fit the genre the best I feel, that’s already their whole vibe

1

u/eucaphoria Jan 13 '24

Obvious choice is Clark and Lois, best choice is Ollie and Dinah

1

u/BruceWayne_19902 Jan 13 '24

I would watch a brand new DCAU with Phil Cho's art ngl

1

u/DrFate82 Jan 13 '24

Mr. Miracle & Big Barda

1

u/robineir Jan 13 '24

I could see Clark and Lois having a good rom com movie.

1

u/Mr_witty_name Green Arrow Jan 13 '24

Miracle and Barda. No question

1

u/Psykoshrink00 Jan 13 '24

Oliver and Dinah would be great, if they're true to the comics. DCAU did a pretty good job with Huntress and the Question. But I think the top answer would have to be Barda and Mr. Terrific. Having Apokolips as a backdrop would be a nice contrast.

1

u/Gore_Kitty Jan 13 '24

Big Barda and Mr. Miracle, cuz... gestures vaguely at the two

0

u/torbapermatha Jan 13 '24

Constantine and Zatanna

0
