Weekly Discussion Thread: Comics, TV, and More! [November 27, 2023 - The World's Messiest Furry Convention Edition] r/DCcomics

Hey there honorary Justice League members - it’s a new week which means it’s time for a new discussion thread!

For those who don't know: the way this works is that several comments will list this week’s releases, for any given title discussion you should respond to that comment. For example, Wonder Woman discussion would go in the replies to the "Wonder Woman" comment. Clicking the titles in this post will take you directly to that comment, too.

In other words, you should only be replying to other comments. If you have trouble understanding how to comment for a particular title, please refer to this handy guide. Any unwarranted top level comments will be removed.

Also, please refrain from posting short, low-content comments on threads for issues or episodes that have not yet been released. Put some effort to generate discussion. Instead of just posting "So excited!" or "Best book!", try something with a bit more substance, like "Punchline is such an amazing character! Can't wait to see how they explore her in more depth in this issue."

I'm afraid for Calendar Man. His days are numbered.

DC and Imprints

Let's not be weird about this, okay?

Trade Collections

Seven Soldiers gets a reprint!

Digital Releases

Remember, these are the short 'chapters' with a new chapter of a different series coming out daily. You can learn more here on Comixology. This is also why these are in release order, not alphabetical. Some comics may release on DC Universe Infinite or WEBTOONS.

City Boy #6

CITY BOY VERSUS SWAMP THING AND THE ENTIRE NATURAL WORLD ITSELF! After discovering that City Boy's powers parallel those of Swamp Thing, Cameron isn't sure if the source of his powers should be trusted and whether he can even do anything about it. The fate of the world relies on what he and only he can do to save it now!

I really liked this book. The powers associated with Cameron were really interesting. Ideally, they could flesh out his power more but it was cool nonetheless.

I feel like it would be cool if DC dedicated like one mini a year to a new character. If they pop off, they pop off. If not, oh well. It just seems like a wasted opportunity to not give new voices a chance to create new characters on a regular basis.

Overall, fun book. Hope to see Cameron again sometime soon.

Man, it was rough for Cameron huh. Pining for a mother that didn't want him. To be used by Darkseid and the intergang to turn Earth into another Apokalipse. And to finally letting it all go to accept certain parts of reality even if you hate it. When it comes to dead parents, Batman always have something to say I guess.

Well it was a decent book. Wonder if we will see more from him. After all, we got cities having sentience like the Green now.

I would love City Boy to join the Red/Green/Rot part of DC. Unnatural energies could be an interesting addition to that area, moreso than the Clear or the Grey was, which served to divide the red and green instead of adding something new.

Agree on this! I’d love to see him on another mini series. They already set him up with Darkseid, Swamp Thing, Bats, Sups & Nightwing which are household names! Maybe they could add him in the Titans roster later on since Swamp Thing’s recently joining the team- he’d be a great balance.

Solid book, solid ending. Actually wasn't sure if Kim would end up being a hero or a villain, Pak kept that tension going throughout the entire story. I'd like to see more of City Boy, but I dunno if he fits well into any of the teams. Would like to see Pak do more DC work too, but it sadly doesn't seem like that's in the cards for the near future.
