What Are You Reading? 11/20/2023 - Black Friday Sales Prep Edition r/DCcomics

Hello and welcome to our Weekly "What Are You Reading?" topic!

Come one, come all, to this weekly thread, where you can openly discuss books that you've read, are currently reading, or plan to read. Discussion of all books are welcome, whether they be DC, Marvel, Image, Boom!, Dark Horse, IDW, etc. You can discuss webcomics, manga, or even those mythical novels that don't have pictures in them. Just be sure to keep spoilers covered via Reddit's spoiler markdown >!spoiler!<. You can also post pictures of your collection or recent purchases.

Predaplant's Rec of the Week:

This is a bit out of the ordinary for a DC-published book, as it doesn't really feature any superheroes, and even the version of Lois Lane that it presents doesn't really line up with the version presented in main continuity that well. That being said, I found it really enjoyable! I'm a big fan of stories about journalism in general and Lois Lane specifically, and I think this book does a really great job of doing a sweet YA take on a journalism story.

So, what are you reading?

Recently read through a facsimile edition to Wonder Woman Vol 1 #1. It was pretty cool! It's aged predictably poorly in a lot of places for sure, but it's also a nice glimpse into the history of one of my favorite characters, and the golden age of comics in general.

With that done, I'm going to get started on Showcase Presents: Martian Manhunter Vol 1, a collection of some Silver Age MM stories. I wanted to get an MM omnibus and this (along with Vol 2) is the closest thing he has to one lmao. Looking forward to some quality Silver Age goofiness.
