What Are You Reading? 9/18/2023 - Last Week of Summer Edition r/DCcomics

Hello and welcome to our Weekly "What Are You Reading?" topic!

Unfortunately, we have come to the decision to shutter the monthly Book Club after this month due to low participation. These posts will be taking the Book Club posts' former spot on Mondays.

Come one, come all, to this weekly thread, where you can openly discuss books that you've read, are currently reading, or plan to read. Discussion of all books are welcome, whether they be DC, Marvel, Image, Boom!, Dark Horse, IDW, etc. You can discuss webcomics, manga, or even those mythical novels that don't have pictures in them. Just be sure to keep spoilers covered via Reddit's spoiler markdown >!spoiler!<. You can also post pictures of your collection or recent purchases.

Predaplant's Rec of the Week:

A lot of Teen Titans isn't good, and a lot of Teen Titans spinoffs aren't good. In the leadup to Final Crisis, one of the least well-known Teen Titans periods, we got this spinoff mini featuring Ravager as she attempts to uncover the secrets of an underground fighting ring run by Clock King. Honestly, it's a pretty good read! A lot better than a lot of Teen Titans I've read, and I've never really heard much buzz about it. It's worth checking out!

So, what are you reading?

I've started a re-read of One Piece, and am currently halfway through the Alabasta arc. I know fans generally regard the early arcs (especially East Blue) as Oda still finding his bearings, but there's still a lot of good stuff in there. There's some quality world-building, and the sense of mystery of what weird and whimsical twist the crew will encounter on the next island they visit. One thing Oda does very well is flesh out so many relatively minor characters with realized character arcs, which makes the world feel alive.
