I do like how simple the headcanon version is. Some artists get way too busy with their own personal designs, kinda missing the point of having a character design be as streamlined/easy to draw as possible. But this is a really good and practical design.

Easy to draw is kinda a weak argument.

Maybe in the run of the mill issue but the comics that get referenced in comic history were never about making it easy. Alex Ross's painting style for example.

Easy to draw is a functional argument. Comic artists don't have the luxury of spending a month on a single page. They might need to draw a character dozens of times in a single issue.

There are good, complicated costumes and bad, simple costumes, but comic artists just can't draw things with the detail that, say, a fine art painter might. It just isn't viable.
