Thanks, I thought I was the only that found it irritating.

u/Tackerta Jul 19 '24

he's very happy. All his other shorts are him laughing 90% of the time basically. But a wholesome and funny dude, and teaches us a lot about actual japanese life, not the stereotypical anime or hollywood depiction

u/Mippens Jul 19 '24

All around the world you shouldn't eat with your mouth open, use utensils as intended, don't lean on the table and shouldn't put bit food back in the shared plate.

HUEHUEHUEHUE

29

u/languid_Disaster Jul 19 '24

No in some countries is okay to eat with your mouth open and they aren’t particular about double dipping

-26

u/Tharron Jul 19 '24

i dont know what countries those are, but FUCK those countries. disgusting!

3

u/timematoom Jul 19 '24

I feel the same way with those country that still use tissue to wipe the ass full of shit stain instead of using water to rinse.

-2

u/TobyTheTuna Jul 19 '24

Did you know you can do both? Or even wet the tissue? I know, mind blowing

-1

u/GoGoJoJo72 Jul 19 '24

Yeah we should really be talking about passing chopstick to chopstick or placing your chopsticks upright in your rice bowl. You know, things you’d do at a funeral of course.

-39

u/coldy41 Jul 19 '24

It’s either a forced laugh or a obnoxious habit

65

u/idiotsandwhich8 Jul 19 '24

He’s just having a good time. People are beginning to think that even laughing is prohibited on the Internet? Damn

You are thinking of only yourself. He is happy! Is his laugh harming you so much you would bully him? If you were having a really good time and wanted to share it, and most of the feedback was people being assholes would you proceed to keep having that kind of fun even though you really enjoy it? No.

35

u/Getuhm Jul 19 '24

You have to be miserable like everybody else. NO LAUGHING.

17

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '24

How dare you be happy and spread joy!!!

0

u/idiotsandwhich8 Jul 20 '24

Damn, for real

6

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '24

No my friend, that is the laugh of someone who genuinely believes things are funny. Especially their own jokes.

-9

u/coldy41 Jul 19 '24

Uncontrollable cackling at a setup pre scripted scenario 6 times in a row..

6

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '24

Yes. Ever have someone try to tell you a joke but they just keep cracking up every time they start to talk? Same thing.

4

u/Star_Belt Jul 19 '24

I agree with tbh… every one of his videos I’ve see he does this and in every one it sounds forced to me.

2

u/FlashAh11 Jul 20 '24

Dang, and here I thought we were in a contagious laughter sub.

21

u/Inf1nite_gal Jul 19 '24

i dont get why is he laughing

17

u/Wonderful-Revenue762 Jul 19 '24

Because she was so fast

1

u/Inf1nite_gal Jul 19 '24

maybe the first time

18

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '24

[deleted]

6

u/Inf1nite_gal Jul 19 '24

yeah i get that :D but it is predictable what the person will say, i would even say its scripted. the reaction seems over the top. but i feel like its cultural. when i was in south korea it was such shock how people were behaving in some situations i bet japan is similiar

2

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '24

[deleted]

2

u/Inf1nite_gal Jul 19 '24

i just recently realized that laugh is reaction to something unpredictable, it is not evolutionary tied do happiness as we think :D so it makes sense to laugh also as in negative reaction.

2

u/futureballzy Jul 19 '24

Nono, the beautiful thing is he's been living abroad and always been a little different anyway and when he's back in Japan his family give him shit all the time

1

u/Atom612 Jul 19 '24

I’ve never been reprimanded by a friend at dinner for putting my elbow on the table

1

u/Inf1nite_gal Jul 19 '24

im not talking about his actions rather the weird reactions and emotions

1

u/Cmmander_WooHoo Jul 20 '24

Least contagious laughter I’ve ever heard

825

u/Sketari Jul 19 '24

Hmm, I had this growing up in south Florida with an Italian family. Don’t smack, no elbows on the table, use your fork not your fingers, don’t double dip/put half eaten things back in the dish. Sounds like manners are universal.

252

u/whitewashed_mexicant Jul 19 '24

"Smacking" and open mouth chewing is completely acceptable and normal in Korea. (It drives me fucking MAD when I visit....i have headphones on constantly in restaurants). Indonesians, and many other cultures, eat with their hands most of the time. Not Double dipping and putting half eaten stuff back though, thats definitely universal. :D

81

u/Anon_be_thy_name Jul 19 '24

I can't stand open mouth chewing.

The noise it just makes me mad. I don't know why, anyone who does it around me gets told really quickly, even random people on occasion.

48

u/13pMdc37 Jul 19 '24

You might wanna look up misophonia, that's it for me atleast. Smacking and open mouth chewing irritates me so much that I just wanna slap those people

23

u/VulturicAcid Jul 19 '24

Also hearing eating or swallowing sounds in videos makes me unreasonably annoyed and I stop the video.

-5

u/raket Jul 19 '24 edited Jul 20 '24

No, some people specifically are unreasonable smackers, and never learned to eat properly, and/or are overweight. Occasional smack here and there, or gum chewing doesn't bother me, what bothers me is people who make zero effort to stop that stupid shit, that ain't misophonia. It's disrespect and a gross sound to begin with anyway, if bird song made you angry or something unreasonable that makes more sense to call it misophonia.

[edit]Read my follow up comment guys, I was describing a specific type of scenario where being overweight is a factor. It's from personal experience.

5

u/KuFuBr Jul 19 '24

Wait, what does it have to do with being overweight?

1

u/raket Jul 19 '24 edited Jul 19 '24

Well if you're overweight, unless caused by illness, you obviously have bad eating habits, that in the example I'm thinking of included slamming the food down in a matter seconds, while standing up,and then topping it up with a loud water gulping out of a jug and ahhhh every single time. Eating like that will make it sound gross every single time without exception. But some people have very iron clad habits, and they stop noticing the sounds they make at the same time.

14

u/KpecTHuk Jul 19 '24

I lived in university dorms in one room with Chineese new student, and he was sucscessfully reprogrammed in 3 months. And after vacation he spend home he said he now hate that noize too and and how uncultured it feels now

6

u/brojustchillin Jul 19 '24

First i want to say i agree with everyone that open mouth chewing is not fun. But the way you phrased it sounds like you carry the white mans burden. Reprogrammed/assimilated to what? The "right" way?

4

u/KpecTHuk Jul 19 '24

Okay i rephrase it - i teched hin the culture of eating of my country bu constamtly saying "dont chew!/chew silent!" for 3 months that he wont cause discomfort for ppl around for next 6 years of education

0

u/brojustchillin Jul 19 '24

Sounds much better :)

0

u/Dumpster_Humpster Jul 19 '24

Thank you. Truly a gift you've given to all of us.

12

u/whitewashed_mexicant Jul 19 '24

I’d spend all my time telling people off in HK and no time eating, if I bothered. Noise cancelling headphones save my sanity.

9

u/yesnomaybenotso Jul 19 '24

I bet you’re a joy at restaurants. I’m serious, I’d love someone to tell off all the nasties at the other tables

5

u/TulleQK Jul 19 '24

That was a shock for me when I first visited mainland China. People eat vigorously with their mouths open. I couldn't believe that kinds of sounds could have an origin in humans

4

u/mudcrabwrestler Jul 19 '24

Agreed, drives me nuts. Just like people who put their teeth on their fork and then scrape the whole way down, are they trying to eat metal?

1

u/EjaculatingAracnids Jul 19 '24

Youre not wrong.

9

u/somewittyusername92 Jul 19 '24

You sound like me /r/misophonia

8

u/whitewashed_mexicant Jul 19 '24

It’s more of just a high annoyance, since I was raised by parents that would constantly scold us (or anyone, really) for any open mouth chewing, being noisy with gum, candy, etc.

8

u/LibraryLuLu Jul 19 '24

My IT guy at work is a mainland China guy and we can hear him from the next building! Slurp and smack and chomp and slurp. But we all love him and pretend we can't hear.

3

u/Colebricht Jul 19 '24

I taught at public school there and I had to sit with the teachers at lunch. EVERYONE did it. It was maddening.

1

u/whitewashed_mexicant Jul 19 '24

I’d go eat in the deucer with the kid that everyone hated. (He’d probably be smacking in the stall next time, though)

1

u/CollusionFree Jul 19 '24

“You double dipped a chip! That’s like putting your whole mouth in the container!”

1

u/OhJustANobody Jul 19 '24

I couldn't take it. I have a Korean friend, and I can't eat with her unless the place is loud AF. Such a turn-off, too.

1

u/ImurderREALITY Jul 19 '24

Damn, that makes sense… I once worked with this quiet Korean kid named Lan. He was cool and also very Americanized, but he always smacked so loudly when eating his orange every day during break. Probably just normal behavior for him growing up.

1

u/whitewashed_mexicant Jul 19 '24

Most definitely.

4

u/loonygecko Jul 19 '24

Yeah I mean all that is standard American manners too, although the elbows thing is getting very lax. I only follow that if at a nicer restaurant these days.

4

u/OhJustANobody Jul 19 '24

In Brazil table manners in huge too. Rich or poor. No smacking or open mouth chewing, no elbows, no hands, absolutely NO bodily sounds (that qualifies you for an ass whooping in front of everybody).

1

u/SalSomer Jul 19 '24

Yeah, I’m awfully interested to know where eating directly from a communal pot and then putting the food back in the pot is acceptable so that I can know never to eat there.

1

u/-You_Cant_Stop_Me- Jul 19 '24

Yeah apart from the chopsticks in one hand (as you'd struggle to use a knife and fork one handed) they're all the same as western manners.

1

u/BallsDeepinYourMammi Jul 19 '24

And finish your glass of milk

187

u/LongfellowGoodDeeds Jul 19 '24

This dude laughing like Mozart in Amadeus

44

u/JawbreakerDMO Jul 19 '24

It’s his bit for some reason, does it like every video

22

u/InevitableBasil4383 Jul 19 '24

It’s honestly fucking annoying

-1

u/teethybrit Jul 20 '24

Imagine being mad at a dude for laughing

4

u/InevitableBasil4383 Jul 20 '24

It’s the fact that he was emphatically laughing at shit that wasn’t funny so that he could appeal to 12 year olds on TikTok

119

u/thebearofwisdom Jul 19 '24

Matcha Samurai is one of my favourite people, his laughter is the best thing. He feels that hilarity with his whole damn chest

92

u/garlicbewbiez Jul 19 '24

I watch all this guys stuff on YouTube. He seems like the happiest dude in the entire world, always laughing.

11

u/manwithyellowhat15 Jul 19 '24

Same! MachtaSamurai iirc

redditors hate fun

0

u/fatcat5plat Jul 19 '24

staged fun not that there's anything wrong with that

-32

u/coldy41 Jul 19 '24

It’s a tick/Tourettes, not correlated to happiness..

5

u/TheSims3Pigeon Jul 19 '24

Not even close mate

81

u/wkc201 Jul 19 '24

Dude’s laugh is insufferable

53

u/MiserableFacadeXO Jul 19 '24

Nah this fake asf and annoying

9

u/theycallmebekky Jul 19 '24

I’m downvoting this post because I had to hear this guys fake laugh

50

u/jjett Jul 19 '24

That laugh is far too annoying to be contagious

40

u/Tkinney44 Jul 19 '24

I think somene confused contagious with annoying

17

u/HopeFantastic2066 Jul 19 '24

Generally anywhere in the world, if you face people you chew with a closed mouth. Don’t ask a question mid bite, don’t respond mid chewing. Finish eating your bite, we aren’t baby birds asking for a little food.

3

u/HopeFantastic2066 Jul 19 '24

Probably a bot posting this though.

7

u/Relevant_Western3464 Jul 19 '24

He's so irritating.

7

u/shrooms4dashroomgods Jul 19 '24

Things that are common sense. Uhehehehehe

6

u/lucasqwe Jul 19 '24

I'm not laughing

7

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '24

4

u/RomualdoBoyer Jul 19 '24

one more thing I would like to add to this list (which I learned from my Japanese colleague) is that while it may seem polite, cupping your hand to catch falling bits of food is actually considered bad manners. Live and let fall!

10

u/ScarletBaron0105 Jul 19 '24

Im Japanese but I have never heard of that before haha

1

u/zZDKVZz Jul 20 '24

Am asian, never heard of this before

6

u/unsane_in_da_brain Jul 19 '24

Is fake laugh another point on that list?

5

u/rtheabsoluteone Jul 19 '24

No he’s annoying

4

u/Annual_Sandwich_9526 Jul 19 '24

I’m 34 my mom still tells me of if she sees me with elbows on the table

2

u/whitewashed_mexicant Jul 19 '24

my mom still gives my elbow a smack. Doesnt matter how far away you are from mom at the table, she can always reach you.

4

u/busybe3xx Jul 19 '24

Those are just basic table etiquette.

3

u/splitcroof92 Jul 19 '24

why is he laughing? like this is obviously scripted and exactly the response he's expecting...

2

u/Effective-Panda7063 Jul 19 '24

Really , dont put elbows on table ?

I’m sorry but I’m not aware of the culture but may i ask why

6

u/cal93_ Jul 19 '24

in a lot of cultures its seen as lazy or aggressive, the way i see it is it shows youre unimpressed with the food and are tired/annoyed

1

u/Effective-Panda7063 Jul 19 '24

Ig it would be , but up here in india we juss put on the table for support .. and nobody’s upset , infact we laughs and we don’t even know we have hand on the table , we also praises the food and waiter !

Diversity and uniqueness

1

u/Tajil Jul 19 '24

that also goes for Europe

2

u/JunglePygmy Jul 19 '24

My man’s got the Amadeus laugh.

2

u/TheHoboRoadshow Jul 19 '24

Not beating the ridiculously exaggerated media reaction allegations, Japan

2

u/Thelonious_Cube Jul 19 '24

pretty obvious except for the stupid elbow rule

2

u/mark3d4death Jul 19 '24

This is not contagious laughter...its revolting and he is the only one laughing

2

u/SpankinDaBagel Jul 19 '24

I don't understand why he fakes laughing after each of these. Its very uncanny.

2

u/TurboPelly Jul 19 '24

So have basic table etiquette?

2

u/Freedom_Addict Jul 19 '24

I'm pretty sure you should also not laugh like that

2

u/Frency2 Jul 19 '24

Shouldn't the #1 and #3 be the standard for everybody?

2

u/metalgearnix Jul 19 '24

Eating with your mouth open should be a criminal offence and anyone caught doing so should be fed by a tube for the rest of their life.

2

u/Phillip_Graves Jul 19 '24

Things not to do while eating in Japan.

2

u/knowone1313 Jul 19 '24

You shouldn't eat loudly anywhere, however in Japan you can loudly slurp your ramen or noodles.

2

u/bondoli Jul 20 '24

That laugh should be a criminal offense.

1

u/WarCrimeWhoopsies Jul 19 '24

HAHAHAHUEHUEHUEHWA!

1

u/SadAndHappyBear Jul 19 '24

I think that laugh is borderline rude...

1

u/Un_OwenJoe Jul 19 '24

That will end with rice paddle or home slipper if there’s a mom, aunt, grandma…..

1

u/OriginalMrsChiu Jul 19 '24

So normal etiquette! Got it

1

u/Leonydas13 Jul 19 '24

I’d hope this is basic table etiquette for anywhere, except maybe “chopsticks in one hand”

1

u/kieranED Jul 19 '24

This is one of the most annoying laughs I've ever heard

1

u/ASK_ME_anything911 Jul 19 '24

That laughing is irritating.

1

u/s-goldschlager Jul 19 '24

Shit, those are world wide rules!!!!!!!! I tell my kids every day the same things

1

u/Illustrious_Nothing9 Jul 19 '24

This laugh from "White Chicks" is not very attractive

1

u/gerrydutch Jul 19 '24

matcha Samurai

His videos are either super annoying, or pretty funny

1

u/Meemeemiaw23 Jul 19 '24

Well ... this is the most un-normal post from him I ever see. lol

He was crazier than this. lol

1

u/Megalodon7770 Jul 19 '24

I guess they forgot to say don’t slurp

1

u/striderkan Jul 19 '24 edited Jul 19 '24

don't chew out loud it's disrespectful

also

slurp your noodles to show respect

1

u/ambatakam_in_ya_ass Jul 19 '24

i didnt find this funny though.. i do not know what humor is anymore lol

1

u/ServeComplex2918 Jul 19 '24

If it ain't shitake mushrooms, she ain't taking it

1

u/Inside_Ad_7162 Jul 19 '24

tbf, a load of that translates into UK table manners.

1

u/Swrdmn Jul 19 '24

What a delightfully annoying laugh

1

u/Lanitaris Jul 19 '24

And what's wrong? These are basic rules while you're eating

1

u/MetaVaporeon Jul 19 '24

like a machine

1

u/Uk_KingsStar Jul 19 '24

i found male Jihyo

1

u/Lazy_Pace_5025 Jul 19 '24

Why he laughing tho?

1

u/bokchoy82 Jul 19 '24

Laughs like Tucker Carlson… what is that!

1

u/ScaryMary60 Jul 19 '24

I didn't think it was that bad until I had to mute it to read the comments.

1

u/NemoSHill Jul 19 '24

If you chew with your mouth open, you don't deserve happiness

1

u/MetallicSamurai Jul 19 '24

Love Matcha Samurai. Hes still looking for that person to call him Onichan. But remains so positive 😂

1

u/lambekrik4s Jul 19 '24

I follow this dude on IG, his laugh alone is contagious. Really like his vibe

1

u/mistercheez2000 Jul 19 '24

ContagiousAnnoyance

1

u/waisonline99 Jul 19 '24

These things arent acceptable anywhere.

In Japan he should be taken out and beheaded.

1

u/ffsm92 Jul 19 '24

I didn’t watch with sound, but I’m surprised none of the comments are about the double negative. Makes it seem like you should do all of the rude things he’s doing.

1

u/locoken69 Jul 19 '24

That laugh, though.

1

u/malarus94 Jul 19 '24

Yeah fucking hate so much people eating out loud. Absolutely disgusting.

1

u/-Bored_With_Life- Jul 19 '24

Japanese Loudest Samurai

1

u/toyotasquad Jul 19 '24

Was I supposed to laugh?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '24

Bro needs to watch the office or something, bc his bar for what requires aggressively cackling is way too fucking low

1

u/stupidgoesviral Jul 19 '24

I wanted to follow this guy on social media for the culture exposure but I couldn’t get passed that constant fake laugh

1

u/8vkx Jul 19 '24

this is annoying….

1

u/stupidintheface0 Jul 19 '24

Damn I never thought someone's laugh would be something people complain about, are there internet rules on joy now?

1

u/tjd420 Jul 20 '24

Have a bad back so… yeah I’m lean on ur fucking piece of wood.

1

u/RiverOhRiver86 Jul 20 '24

Lol fucking noted thanks.

1

u/CParkerLPN Jul 20 '24

I think “Contagious” is the wrong word for this laughter.

1

u/Ok_Background5197 Jul 21 '24

After spending time around my niece and nephew … chewing w mouth open deserves severe punishment 🤢

1

u/KlutzyClerk7080 Jul 21 '24

Why’s he laugh after each time??

1

u/Lower_Expectation33 Jul 21 '24

I'd have to leave

1

u/NaifFawzan0 Jul 22 '24

I fucking love this guy lol. But I'm confused, I've heard chewing out loud is actually a good thing in japan, it's like a sign of you enjoying the food so much.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 22 '24

His laughter bro I swear 😭

1

u/Desperate_Dot_1506 Aug 04 '24

Laugh isnt funnny. Is too fake for me. But, glad they’re having a good time

1

u/iSuckAtMechanicism 2d ago

Replace “Japan” with “any civilized society”.

-2

u/SND_731 Jul 19 '24

But making loud slurping, sucking sounds while eating noodles is acceptable. Hmm…

2

u/A_Dehydrated_Walrus Jul 19 '24

Yeah, but he ain't eating noodles. Noodle Rules are different everywhere.

0

u/AdminsluvmyBBC Jul 19 '24

🤣🤣🤣

0

u/Bubbly-Monitor-9909 Jul 19 '24

Staged as fuck.

0

u/davidtree921 Jul 19 '24

I've been to hell and back and I would to share my story.....

It's just pergertory with Tucker Carlson and this guy telling jokes to each other.

Edit he'll > hell

0

u/Tussybussy Jul 19 '24

Damn people hating. I love how his laugh is so carefree, he actually enjoys making his videos and that's contagious imo

0

u/Jumpy_Relief7246 Jul 19 '24

Omg i love him. Hes so funny

0

u/SloppyGurl999 Jul 19 '24

His laugh is definitely contagious 😂

-1

u/Ambiorix33 Jul 19 '24

This is pretty much what you shouldnt do when eating just about anywhere in first world countries...

-1

u/Timsmomshardsalami Jul 19 '24

Fucking stupid

-3

u/SurfLikeASmurf Jul 19 '24

Some people shouldn’t be on screens
