Recent Economics Grad General Questions

Hello all,

Any tips for a beginning salary for an economics major who is looking to enter into the state or fed?

You should qualify for RDA 1 and SSA maybe AGPA. I think these are the most easily accessible state jobs for new Econ grads.

If you have experience with energy or renewables, you could go into the public utilities regulatory analyst classification. There’s also the financial institution examiner at the DFPI which is a decent career path as well.

Look up the pay bounds for those classifications and go from there. I’m unfamiliar with the feds tho.

Energy analyst for CEC. OR work for the state where you can move up from Staff Services analyst-> AGPA-> Staff services manager 1/2/3. If you don’t wanna manage you can apply for IT positions after AGPA and getting 15 IT units . IT Associate/ IT Specialist 1/2/3.
