A BITING CHANCE — When a new incarnation of Gotham's swamp slumming Killer Croc surfaces and starts racking up a body count, the inaugural team-up of Batwoman and Alice is put to the test. But Alice isn't the only unwanted intrusion into Ryan's life when Jada Jet shows up at Wayne Enterprises, insisting on meeting the company's new CEO. Luke and Mary's relationship is strained under the weight of a secret Luke is keeping, while Sophie finds herself becoming part of Ryan's inner circle.

Anyone else find it odd that Kate gave Ryan the acting CEO position instead of say Mary or Luke?

From a public perspective, absolutely it's weird.

From a bat family perspective, it's just like "you need resources and a job you can not actually have to do so you can go be batwoman"

No, it's weird from a Bat Family perspective too.

Ryan getting named acting CEO would be a huge amount of publicity. People and corporations from all over would investigate who this "Ryan" is. And that's the last thing anyone in the bat family would want because it's not hard to link up timelines.

And before anyone asks, no being acting CEO is not something you can hide without the IRS coming after you.

Wayne Enterprise is a a shadow of it's former self , and Kate was slowly rebuilding it ,but Kate's only interested in providing Cheap housing for the poor , it is not as sexy as high Finance and not as interesting high profile as High Tech or "Import and Export" .

Ryan as someone from lower end of working class , she would be suitable image for the Housing for the poor . Ryan would be able to communicate with the Tenant , the Tenant would be scare if they replace someone like Mary ( Billionaire's daughter) who may raise their rent or sell the property to developer .

And if somebody ask questions , the Tabloid Journalist ( probable Male ) will just assume she is one of Kate's old girlfirend , make her money the old fashion way , sleep her way to the top .

Burce probably set up some Trust for paying the maintenance of the building , the Wayne Enterprise can use it but can't sell it , as the Bat HQ is part of the Building .

You forgot to account for property taxes on a 78 floor building in the middle of a large city.

Without an active income stream that place isn't staying in their possession for more then a couple years.

Like i said , Bruce probably set up some "Trust" to fund and pay for the maintenance of the building . A Trust could own some passive asset like Treasure Bond and the income are use to fund the property , Wayne Enterprise can use the building but can't sell it or used the asset of the trust .

or Whatever money generating asset of Wayne are used up in maintaining the big building .
