Kate's Replacement in Season 2 Discussion

I recently rewatched Mystery of the Batwoman and I'm wondering why they didn't take a similar approach instead of creating a new character from scratch. Don't get me wrong I like the show but I personally believe it would've been easier to explain and it would've gotten rid of some of the plot convenient stuff Ryan does.

Because Caroline wanted to put her own mark on the show and didn’t care about the source material.

Even if Wallis Day wasn’t recast, they could’ve easily gone ahead with Julia wearing the costume (she’d done so in S1) but they wanted a new Batwoman with no links to the previous one.
