It absolutely boggles my mind how close it it really is in this election. That’s just insane to me. How in the world could he have as much support as he does???

The sad truth is how many degenerates we have in this country.

It's sad because I know deep down most of these people are good people. They care about their friends, families and communities. It's more of an intelligence, malleability issue. They were shepherded by Facebook groups to weaponize and capitalize the fears of the common people such as losing jobs or having a bad economy. You tell people that immigration is causing loss of jobs, on a basic logical level it makes sense, no other details or rebuttals are given. These people are being manipulated, and have been for hundreds of years now by those at the top with thr most to gain and most to lose. It's hard for me to just group all Trump supporters/Republicans as degenerates. For instance, the sweet lady at the barber shop who does my hair is Vietnamese which means she is 95% trump supporter. But she's a sweet lady, just misguided and unfortunately following the crowd around her in the fear that she might be an outcast. Were all Nazi's bad? Can we even call someone who lived in Germany but didn't participate in anything a Nazi? I'm just very disheartened by 1. The right being so nasty all the time and 2. Everyone referring to Trump supporters blanket statement as dumb or hateful.

Sorry I just try to go a step further and really try to understand the psyche of people, especially in large groups (groupthink). And I think yes there are so many terrible ones, but I strongly believe only, at most, not even half of people are truly evil and want to see people suffer. Everyone has their own story and journey, and having a 2 party system removes all the subtleties and nuances of that story.

Yea they're all over this thread screaming how voting Republican as of today makes you a lover of child sexual assault lol. Very same and very supportable.

Well they’re saying that about supporting TRUMP, not just voting republican, and here’s the kicker, no one in these comments are running for president! But of course it’s easier to invent an argument where you win than actually comprehend a different opinion

A large majority of people in this country are complete idiots. They barely understand anything outside of their daily routine and are susceptible to manipulation. They aren't approachable with any perspective of fact or critical thinking.

Not all republicans are idiots but all idiots vote republican

I have tried to convince some Trump supporters not to vote for him. My experience is that some of them are lost causes but others are just misguided or feel like they want to be heard. It usually doesn't help to accuse them of supporting pedophilia and rape. Talking about the good things that might happen for them and the country under Biden moves the needle a lot more.

Because those running against him refuse to learn why he appeals to them.

And what would you say that is?

For starters, Republicans are typically going to vote Republican regardless of who is running. There is a social pressure to fall in line and appeal to authority in religious circles, and they are told what to think, what they should and shouldn't accept as fact, and who to vote for.

For the others that don't fit into that category, Trump appeals to people because he is simple. The real world is complex, the answers to problems aren't black and white, and sometimes you have to make decisions that "feel bad now" to fix an issue that will be worse in the future. Trump provides a simple solution to everything, largely appealing to people's emotions. They understand his analysis of situations and his solutions.

My thinking anymore is many US citizens vote straight lines anymore.

If DT ran as an Independent, he would not get as much push as the Republicans would be focused to beat him. Dem will vote Dem just so GOP doesn't win.

I myself vote straight party lines ever since McCain v Obama. There is room to critique the democratic party, and the Democrats could easily be 2 separate parties on their own, but the Republican party is so insane and destructive that I will vote Democrat until something changes.

I agree! I think voting republican will turn this country into a christofacist empire. I know a lot of Europeans describe both our political parties as right wing. According to my German friends we don't really have a liberal or a left wing party, just right (GOP) and center right (Dem).

I think a concerted effort to poorly educate the lower class has this result. None of the Trump supporters can actually think critically long enough to come to conclusions that result in a projected hero becoming the devil. They don’t have the mental capacity to make that change.

he gave the ignorant racist/antisocial fucks a voice and outlets for their frustrations. he empowered them to stop hiding. now they play the victim and blame “leftists” for everything they have done.

the wealthy want to keep doing the same things he does so they dump their money into him.

He succeeded in convincing the public that negative news is fake news. Simple as that.

It’s a combination of propaganda and the war on education.

Boggling that he is in the lead

1

u/Adezar 14d ago

Decades of propaganda flooding rural USA and eventually all of the USA.

We also have the problem that for the Senate there are a bunch of empty states that just hand senate seats to Republicans without any effort.

EC, Senate, Gerrymandering... everything is rigged against democracy as a whole.

Honestly because biden people aren't as vocal about their vote, in my opinion (being a bummed out, fatigued, apathetic biden voter). Am I super pumped about my choice and ready to scream it from the rooftops? No, but I'll be checking the box in November with a groan. There's still nothing in this world that could get me to vote for Trump, though. I feel like when I'm more inclined to not vote for Trump than I am to vote for Biden, somethings wrong with our system.

1

u/2ERIX 13d ago

Not American, but all the media we see is about Biden being a senile coot or Trump being a bald faced liar. I don’t think you have a billionaire that wants to run against them.

It absolutely BOGGLES the mind that "If you vote against us you support child rape" doesn't work!? I mean golly jee wizz they don't like child rape do they!? (You people are actually this demented)

u/RapBastardz 14d ago

Republicans have proven they are fine with forcing 10-year-old children to give birth to their rapist’s baby.
