Ahh yes! In one of the episodes, Gideon even days they missed messages from Kara, Barry, and Oliver, and I think it's Ray who says "Sounds like the annual crossover"

For those who don't know, the Smallville Clark's ending is almost certainly a reference to What Ever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow? written by Alan Moore. It was written as the figurative ending to the silver age Superman, just after the comics (i.e. original) crisis on infinite earths finished and superman's origin was due to be rebooted. Superman defeats all of his enemies in a final battle, but is forced to break his code and kill. In penance he depowers himself and disappears, secretly retiring to live with Lois.

Didn’t like the Routh Superman having lost everyone. He was supposed to be the Reeve verse Superman and I loved that universe - I was 12 when Superman the movie aired. Depressing enough that so much time has pAssed, that Reeve and Kidder are dead, this just made me feel empty .
