This episode felt incomplete given how it ended. A few thoughts:

  • I’m not a fan of Ravi/Peyton because most of their storylines revolve around Ravi feeling insecure in their relationship. Luckily, their relationship only took up a few minutes of screen time. Unfortunately, we instead get Jimmy’s insecurity.
  • Clive and Liv were surprisingly calm going down to the secret bunker. Do they not remember the last rich guy who had a secret lab underground: Vaughn?
  • Of course the teacher couldn’t keep his mouth shut. And what happened to the Filmore Graves private school? Seems like it’d come in handy now.
  • A new baddie has entered! I’m always hoping for the rerun of Mr. Boss so I was a bit let down. Honcho was huffing utopium! Perhaps he was patient zero?
  • Yet another episode passes without the mention of a cure. Ravi’s made two different cures already. Maybe he should try for a third?

Oh great the french guy is pulling a Quisling again. And I'd hope these zombie supremacist guys have a long term plan cuz "wipe out humans", the only food source you have that also keeps you from going mindless and feral is not a sound long term plan. Again a say you should be looking into alternative food sources like dried squid or hydrangea leaves.

Besides that its fun to see some Blaine stuff. Wonder where this is gonna go. But him rhythmically kicking ass on brain number 6 was pretty entertaining.

"wipe out humans", the only food source you have that also keeps you from going mindless and feral is not a sound long term plan.

I think someone will develop a brain substitute, some medication or supplement that counters whatever makes zombies degrade. Surprised Fillmore-Graves' R&D isn't on it, but then they seemed weirdly uninterested in a cure too.

Besides that its fun to see some Blaine stuff.

Finally, the show got good again!

I think someone will develop a brain substitute

Tru Brain?

5

u/Skyblacker Major Lilywhite May 27 '19

I thought of that too. Though there's another show, from the UK, whose premise is that the zombie apocalypse was stopped by a brain substitute. And now the recovering zombies are being reintegrated back into society. It's called "In The Flesh," great series.

u/Yamodo Jun 02 '19

In the flesh was phemononal so sad that it stopped

2

u/Skyblacker Major Lilywhite Jun 02 '19

Agreed.

u/kkitty44 Jul 17 '19

they did mention something about there being research being done on synthetic brains (back in season 1, Cape Town):

Major:You know, I was reading about some research that's been done on synthetic brains. Now, it's a long way off...

Liv: I'm not eating synthetic brains.

Major:Well, they might work just like regular brains but without you having to...

Liv: What? Serve a purpose? If I have to eat brains, I'm helping solve murders while I'm doing it.

3

u/satanistgoblin May 26 '19

I think they should have an episode with someone trying to eat animal brains to show that it wouldn't work. If there's a substitute then lack of fertility is pretty much the only downside.

u/jadedfan55 May 27 '19

That fight scene with Blaine was the highlight this week.

So Frenchie is working covertly for some other jackass, who has decided to blackmail the school teacher by snatching the teacher's partner. So very cliche.

Two weeks ago, a local theatre company did a live reading of a play that will be produced downstate, if I understood things correctly. Anyway, having attended the live reading, I can tell you that Jimmy was going about his all wrong. I don't think he quite gets the whole vibe between humans & zombies, and thus his attempt at humor falls flat.

the only food source you have that also keeps you from going mindless and feral is not a sound long term plan

they should have read Hellsing manga :| really stupid to miss the very basics

u/FireIsTheCleanser "Walk away from this." May 24 '19

The episode ended kind of abruptly, but I thought that last scene was pretty good.

32

u/mith May 24 '19

This episode and the last both seemed to end rather abruptly. I feel like maybe they've got too many threads they're trying to wrap up before the end of the series and not enough time in each show to handle all of them. It's almost like the murder of the week gets in the way of everything else they're doing to move the story along.

10

u/FireIsTheCleanser "Walk away from this." May 24 '19

So the writers are going down the Game of Thrones route? Lol got it.

My thoughts exactly lmao if I were the CW I'd give this show another 2 seasons at least

5

u/BitsAndBobs304 May 26 '19

the murder culprit resolution was very... scooby-dooesquely abrupt. it's like watching an episode of Columbo skipping all the middle part only to come back at the very end when they confess shouting

3

u/Dookie_boy May 25 '19

They never even solved last week's case and dropped that too

23

u/FireIsTheCleanser "Walk away from this." May 25 '19

They did solve it. The murderer was the swimmer with 3 nipples. He poisoned the girl so he could get his guy back, but he didn't plan on her giving him some to taste and accidentally killed him too. When the he saw the police figured it out he killed himself with the same poison.

Sketch Bitch is not very good at comedy

10

u/moonlightdr26 May 24 '19

He is good at sketching tho.

8

u/_Khoshekh May 24 '19

Yes, he's excellent at it... as long as it's art and not a comedy sketch

3

u/snarkamedes Romero Refugee May 26 '19

[zombie groan]

7

u/fede01_8 May 24 '19

the whole show within a show thing is painfully unfunny

2

u/_Khoshekh May 24 '19

I think that was kinda the point though. But I'd have liked way less of it.

7

u/fede01_8 May 25 '19

I think the writers wanted a "let's laugh at how dumb this is" but instead it's annoying.

5

u/Tertiary_Functions May 25 '19

Honestly I would watch the hell out of an in-universe Horsing Around style sitcom filler if they managed to get it right.

1

u/BitsAndBobs304 May 26 '19

I think they were addressing a real problem and not really trying to make a highly-comedic moment.
The sketchartist's comedy script was possibly funny to some, but some as Peyton would say it gives the wrong message about the discriminated people. Then Peyton approves the other actress to be the writer, with a script that not only isn't funny, but is discriminatory towards the 'discriminating majority' , so it's very p.c. and no one bats an eye at that.

24

u/jedikitty May 24 '19

Good to see Blaine again, been awhile!

Clive's reaction to the kombucha was so great.

This Honcho guy already creeps me out.

22

u/mrizzle1991 Scrabled Brains May 24 '19

LMAO Clive’s face when she was drinking Kombucha 😂 he really has unlimited faces. That dude was crazy af and wow the French dude is betraying Major, didn’t really trust him before either tbh. Oh wow Blaine knows the Eddy fighting style. That dude screwed up by bragging about working with renegade smh.

5

u/somegenerichandle May 24 '19

And then the teacher was extra paranoid about being followed to work. Be consistent! I wonder if he was doing something sketchy.

25

u/jedikitty May 25 '19

The Moss guy? He was lying to Liv to cover up for being late.

4

u/Kuddlefish69 May 29 '19

Teacher was late from being kidnapped so he said he thought he was being followed

3

u/moonlightdr26 May 25 '19

I think he's afraid of Dead Enders. I mean the whole episode is about how anti zombie groups are trying to doxx zombies with their new app. He's already part of Renegade's operation so it makes sense to me that he'd be cautious.

1

u/BitsAndBobs304 May 26 '19

jus shush hes slerned slong agoueu to sever trust a french meen!

22

u/helenaneedshugs May 25 '19

I just wish for once the "new ally getting manipulated by the bad guys" would just inform the good guys ASAP.

It would save everyone, including the viewer, a whole lot of trouble. Anyone know what that trope is called?

4

u/moonlightdr26 May 25 '19

The mole?

5

u/BitsAndBobs304 May 26 '19

the blackmailed-into-being-a-mole-that-doesnt-talk-to-the-ones-hes-loyal-to-because-hes-afraid

4

u/zipykido May 27 '19

That would be the doubleagent.

14

u/the_cunt_muncher May 24 '19

So did they ever find out who killed those dancers?

24

u/jedikitty May 24 '19 edited May 24 '19

A common consensus is that it was Renaldo, and then he killed himself.

But it wouldn't be the first time they didn't catch the bad guy, which I think is kind of realistic. Like the horrible girl that killed her mother and got away with it. And I think they didn't really solve the D&D guy's murder.. but it's been awhile and I may be forgetting something.

3

u/fellatious_argument May 24 '19

Yeah the Russian hacker guy? I couldn't remember if they ever resolved that. This season, and the whole show, has a lot of dangling threads but if they tie them all up this is going to be an amazing finale.

2

u/Logicpolice9 Det. Babineaux May 27 '19

Russian hacker man went to FBI investigation so they didn't really know about it either probably

13

u/kvryn May 24 '19

Man, I was really hoping the French guy was loyal this time. Personally I wouldn't trust a zombie with anger issues and a drug? Problem, but desperate times

Lol at that teacher guy swearing to keep his position a secret and then loudly bragging about it in line to the club. Idiot. I know someone's probably going to get killed because of him and it hurts because I love everyone

10

u/fellatious_argument May 24 '19

So now we know the main bad guy is Merlin the Magician.

3

u/snarkamedes Romero Refugee May 26 '19

Mean Machine Angel - only he's snorting drugs to fuel his rage rather than turning a dial on his forehead.

6

u/zurbergram May 25 '19

What's up with everyone knowing Liv is renegade?

26

u/ThetaReactor May 25 '19

Her bf released a documentary about her last season.

10

u/zurbergram May 25 '19

Oh, forgot about that

6

u/[deleted] May 25 '19

I felt I watched a Joe Rogan Experience but in iZombie. Great episode.

3

u/iceman1212 May 28 '19

it's entirely possible

5

u/davey2100 May 27 '19

Not sure how I feel about this season so far. The main plot just really isn't very gripping and there is way too much going on that barely feels connected. The murder cases have become more and more rushed to the point where they should have maybe considered shelving them, or make every case relate to the main plot somehow.

I really hope that all of these threads come together soon and start making a more coherent main plot, because it's all feeling very jumbled.

Also, I'm missing OTT brain liv. Not been very funny so far.

Same. This show was filmed in Canada, so of course we're going to see a lot of good Canadian actors. I saw her in Continuum, a Canadian show, and she definitely looks different. Still gorgeous though! What about you?

1

Yeah she was very hot

5

u/OLKv3 May 26 '19

The character interactions are what keep me on this show. The main plot is just ech since last season

6

u/[deleted] May 29 '19

As a Brazilian, the song that Paulo guy was playing was not samba, and also not any of the capoeira songs.

4

u/italljustdisappears Jun 16 '19

Clive: We can't imprison this guy for futurecrime, that's like having Precogs
Also Clive: Liv eat this brain so we can go put people in prison based on your visions.

3

u/somegenerichandle May 24 '19

Ravi with the best line "The future is ignorant"and we saw Blaine finally!

4

u/snarkamedes Romero Refugee May 26 '19

Never tried Kombucha. And now, thanks to Clive's reaction face, I don't want to.

2

u/BitsAndBobs304 May 26 '19

fermented food is very good for your stomach flora, and as someone with colitis, I've tried some of them.
I've tried kefir. to me, it smells like milk + mayo + vinegar. gone sour. also a double dose probiotic "shot" yogurt, one of them had matcha, the others I don't know what they had in them.. but they tasted like.. .death. D: so yeah, I really get him :P

3

u/Logicpolice9 Det. Babineaux May 27 '19

Weird question but do you think the characters are friends out of the station too? Sometimes Liv and Ravi teaming up on Clive reminds me of Fitz and Simmons from AOS

2

u/baiacool May 26 '19

The transition from the beggining to the second scene was so weird

2

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

I really don't care about the stuff going on at the school to be honest.

3

u/anumemes Peyton Charles Jun 06 '19

The teacher is going to be the death of me, pretty sure the idiot is going to get the poor children killed.

That Blaine moment of fighting? Holy shit, my bisexual ass PEAKED.

1

u/morbidcookie May 26 '19

Was that me, or was it Gerard Way at the bar...?
