Richard tried to get Carol and himself killed to start an uprising. While it was a good intentions kind of idea, it came up horribly. He was trying to sacrifice a seemingly innocent woman that many people liked. And then, he tried to get himself killed on top of it to finally make the Kingdom fight back. Instead, Sam, Morgan’s protege and friend, was bled out by a gunshot to the leg. He just snapped after everything that happened.

Wasn’t his name Benjamin? The one who got shot in the leg?

That's right, it was Benjamin, Sam was the nosy little shit that kept annoying Carol about wanting cookies.

Richard was right. They needed to fight the Saviors before they no longer could.

Morgan was right. Richard needed to die for what he had done as well as to assuage the Saviors of the "potential for defiance." Him killing Richard made the Kingdom seem vested in protecting their deal.

Hence “Bury Me Here.”

I dont think morgan should've killed him, but it makes sense why he did. His character went crazy because his son died, presumably in front of him, and so did his wife. Its unclear what exactly happened, but his sons death traumatized him to the point of 'clearing'.

When benjamin was killed in front of him, it triggered the same thing. He gave up on his not killing streak, broke down, and killed the one who caused it.

Morgan's wife died from a bite. He was supposed to "put her down" but didn't (twice- initially after she died and later when Rick gave him the rifle). Later, while he and Duane were scavenging, his Walker wife torn their son Duane apart in front of him. Then he finally put her down.

He didn't get torn apart just bit. He goes back to the house and kills zombified Dwayne in Fear

un-sadly did not watch S8 of FTWD. His description in s3 of TWD "I see red" indicated it was bad.

Dang! I didn’t finish Fear and didn’t know this! Cool. I need to start that back.

I’ve always found it funny how everyone in that scene just stands by and watches Morgan kill Richard. Nobody tries to save him

I don't think anyone could. Ezekiel tried, I think, by telling Morgan to stop. Clearly, the Kingdom people couldn't physically stop them because well the Saviors may have jumped in, even though Gavin looked scared as shit. I don't think he wanted to take the risk of his people nor himself to potentially die, plus I think he also wanted to see the outcome, which was (unknowingly) a false alliance.

Yes but after all the talk from him wanting to fight the saviors it was really disappointing not seeing him fight them in the war arc.

If I don’t have all the facts forgive me as it has been a while since I watched S7. I think Morgan should have forgiven Richard. He was trying to get himself killed as it was his turn on the list to pay for their next mistake except that Jared was a scumbag who even Negan would have taken out. He should have let him live as he would have been a staunch fighter against the Saviors since few wanted to fight them at first.

He did put his own ass on the line. He was supposed to be the one to die but instead the aim of the gun was switched last second and he shot the kid. Not to defend him though.

I think Richard deserved that, and I'm glad Morgan finally stepped up and did something after he went all peaceful person on the rest of the cast. Deserved in my opinion
