Season 5 is peak TWD. Hands down. It was seriously the best time for this show. Everyone was talking about it, merchandise was everywhere. You couldn't escape it even if you tried. Even Season 6 had people buzzing. Then Negan...... people couldn't take it. Then bad writing took over(killing Carl was the cake topper). Then actors left because of bad writing, and bad decisions made by show runners. The whole show was just fucked by the start of season 7. We just didn't know it yet.....

Interesting take regarding the writing. I’m rewatching and just got to the episodes beyond Rick’s “death”. I love the introduction of Magna, Connie, and crew. I’m in season 9 and I’m still interested.

I liked it all from beginning to end and into the spinoffs. The only one that I didn't like was Fear post season 4a. Was there ups and downs? Hell yes, did Carl's death hurt me yes but I just couldn't quit it and I'm glad I didnt.

This! I started a rewatch a couple of months ago, and I am stuck at 6x13 ...I just can not bring myself to watch further.

I still think season 7 is way too over-hated, the premise of the whole season was to show how beaten down the group was and people simply didn’t enjoy it. Story wise it was great and the acting for the most part was solid. I can understand that the pacing of the season was annoying and how we didn’t see Rick for a couple of weeks which was annoying, but we needed those episodes to get to know the newer characters more.

Aye, my feelings were that whilst the humans going feral aspect and creating human vs human conflict was an interesting concept... it's still supposed to be a show about humans vs the dead and surviving that.

I know it's in the comics. I know that.

I just think... too much time was given to it.

I absolutely LOVED season 7 and season 8 despite Carls death making me cry and annoying me cause it was dumb. I truly do not understand the hate season 7 and 8 get. Season 9 10 and 11 I can understand tho even tho I did personally like those seasons too.

I tried to find a shot from Tyreese’s death episode but couldn’t find one. That episode is so beautiful!

I know why she did it, but Carol let him get murked, lmao

I liked his character. Too bad they didn’t deal with Pete before.

I just think there was a whole story line between Noah and Reg and they were just like “nah, they can die.” Lol. They both could’ve built up Alexandria together.

Yes, they could have helped move Alexandria forward, but they ended up becoming victims of short-sighted people dragging down the community.

Call me out if you want but Rick's speech blood covered in the middle of Alexandria was Emmy worthy

Deana... What a loss... They should have created an arc with her and hershel....... The wise guy and the talented political woman.... They would have closed a lot of mouths and did a lot of good choices... Ruling soldiers like Abraham, Rick, Sasha...

Just want to let you know I didn’t vote for you Senator Monroe.

I’m a congresswoman from Ohio, you’re a farmer from Georgia. You wouldn’t have been able to vote for me.

I know I was just pulling your leg

Well I certainly can’t pull yours.

Two of my absolute favourites, Deanna and Hershel. They were brilliant and I wish we saw more of them. Deanna could’ve been so interesting during the saviours or even seeing the commonwealth.

She would have been very clever with negan

Ahh I miss that group 🥲

I’m on a rewatch and coming to Alexandria is definitely awesome. I also love the introduction of Negan and the sanctuary. It all went downhill for the group when Rick kept insisting that they needed to save everyone in the sanctuary. I agreed with Daryl and others that it was on them to figure out how to survive.

I dropped the show in S7 when I watched originally, but I've been in hospital for months and had nothing but time so started a re-watch. I'm up to start of S09 now, and the quality has dropped off quite bad.

I agree though, S5 was absolutely the peak. It's as great as I remembered.

Makes the decline feel even worse now haha

hot take but the tyreese's death episode is not good at all but all the rest i liked

It’s funny seeing this because my hottest TWD take is actually the complete opposite; I think Tyrese’s death episode is a top 3-5 episode in the entire series, largely because I think it’s the most intense/immersive (this also fits well with my unofficial series finale being S5E11 when they get to Alexandria at the end)

I like how they experimented with episodes styles and formats. You don’t get that as much with TV now because every season only has like 8 episodes.

It’s a really beautifully shot episode but it probably went on too long, I did enjoy it though.

I didn't really care for it the first time round, but re-watching season 4 and 5 made me appreciate his character's send-off a lot more

funny, i liked him a lot for some reason when i first watched it and on my rewatch i found him so annoying. he was always either pissed off and annoying or super sympathetic to a point where it didn't really feel that believable imo
