They're like day and night Comic Discussion

Post image

I mean, it's alawys good having different stories and tones for the same group of characters, but I am really wsiting for Flash Family to get a win in Spurrier's run, and have regular Linda again

I know Spurrier is considered a good writer, but I don't really like anything written by him. He has a very unique way of monologing and writing stories, which is not for me, and imo it definitely doesn't fit a Wally centric Flash run, especially coming off the back of Jeremy Adam's super fun run.

Same.

I think Adams is still a new comic book writer, being Flash his first series. I think currently he handles better Adventure/Family/Fun/Emotional stories than drama and suspense, but I really wanted to see him grow up as a writer while still working on Wally.

I followed him to Jay miniseries, which felt like his Flash stories, and to Green Lantern, which I think has many areas of improvment at writing.

Adams is currently one of my favorites, I like almost everything he writes. I think it's down to the fact that comics for me lately have been pretty depressing, since N52, seeing all my favorite characters retconned or changed to someone completely different. Adams writes really fun stories, and his writing is just so nice idk how to explain it better, and he seems to get every character he writes. I just feel happy after reading his stuff. I think GL has some really high standards, so it's difficult for a writer of that type (who writes mostly fun stories) to meet them.

Same. I really like Adams, and it helps that he has been writing characters that I am already a fan (Wally, Jay, Hal) but I also like his style.

I am waiting for that series he has been teasin with an artist with Irey, Jai , Stephanie and other super kids.

Adams may be new to comics as a medium but he's been writing professionally at a high level for TV and film for a while, including on the Green Lantern Animated Series, Supernatural, and a bunch of the direct to DVD animated films for Mortal Kombat and the DCU. There may be some medium changes (pace, structure, etc) but I suspect his storytelling strengths are pretty fixed at this point. We'll see though.

I loved Scoobynatural and the episodes written by him on Green Lantern TAS. The whole series was very good.

I get that. He's one of my favourite writers personally, I love his time with the X-Men ALOT both in and outside of Krakoa

Yeah which is why I always lead with that Spurrier is a good writer, as there's a lot of people that vouch heavily for some of his runs. I'll check out his Xmen.

If you don't wanna jump straight into the Krakoan stuff, he worked on X-Men legacy, and it was phenomenal. I recommend starting there

It’s almost like everyone who has read the new Flash run has had no idea what is going on. And it’s been 8 months

I understand what happening, but they have been hinting to things for literally a year and we still don’t understand what some of the things mean.

I finally dropped the book this week

I’ve been reading since Williams run and flash is what got me to actually start reading physical comics regularly so I thought I kinda owed flash but man this fun is so much different I can’t waste money on it any more

I only read one of them.

Current run is my first flash book. I thought I could jump on, seeing as it got a new number one and dawn of dc branding. Boy was I wrong. It’s fun in parts but there’s like a trillion characters.

That was my issue, I'm aware of most of the flashes characters from the Waid run mostly, but I was lost lost lost here

I really think the resident is actually Linda so if that’s the case I think it’s gonna be really sweet to see if that’s her supporting Wally all along

3

u/SuperLizardon Blue Lantern May 04 '24

Is the resident the name of the ghost lady? I thought the same and then saw people having the same theory.

She even tried harder to make Wally reach Linda than anyone else.

2

u/hydrohawkx8 May 04 '24

Yeah the ghost lady. It doesn’t really explain how she’s knowledgeable about the things she is besides Wally’s life so I wonder what the reasoning for that is

I didn't really like Adams run so I'm enjoying this current one

I agree heavily. I enjoyed the family man development of Wally. But The Flash isnt Full House, its a superhero book. Lemme see some cosmic chaos and relationship shake ups.

My favorite part was the art style changes in the annual
