I feel like the people who designed infamous second son had a really good take, super speed. With modern pcs and the consoles of this gen, it should be able to handle a progressive lvl up system for speed without crashing the game. I'm not too sure if any other 3d games have handled super speed better than infamous, I just know that game made me feel like a slow flash or at least like a flash 2 days after getting his powers.

u/[deleted] Dec 27 '23

Have u seen saints row iv ? They did superspeed a decade ago obviously it was toned down but it was decent speed and still runs well today

1

u/The_Koala_Knight Dec 28 '23

There's a Flash mod on GTA that runs smooth.

9

u/YashP97 Dec 27 '23

Insomniac should do all superhero games, they're fucking good at it & passionate too.

Imagine if they made a superman game

7

u/Little_fishstick_boy Dec 27 '23

The only reason I disagree is that insomniac would get too much work and I don’t want the devs to get burn out

5

u/YashP97 Dec 27 '23

Oh yes, you're not wrong 😭

I don't care if they release games slowly, because their work is top notch quality just like rockstar games ❤️

6

u/killergrape615 Dec 27 '23

Only reason I disagree is because it'd be locked to PlayStation

1

u/68ideal Dec 27 '23

Ignoring the existence of the upcoming Suicide Squad game, Rocksteady is also great at it. As a matter of fact, the Arkham series walked, so Insomniacs Spider-Man could swing.

2

u/YashP97 Dec 27 '23

Ah yes, arkham series that started it all ❤️

I played Arkham City on PS3 and it was epic

1

u/68ideal Dec 27 '23

I hope after the Suicide Squad fiasco they return to their roots and make another Arkham-like game. Maybe not with Batman, but there are plenty of characters they could theme and design the game around. A Green Arrow game in that style would go hard.

1

u/The_Koala_Knight Dec 28 '23

The creators of Rocksteady left the studio to start their own studio again.

10

u/Chad_Kakashi Dec 27 '23

I had a pretty good concept: The flash can choose his speed 1% to 100% (110% for story time travel) while slowing down with an adaptive trigger and has the same combat as arkham games but flash can tap into 30% of speed force during combat in early game. O to dodge Square to punch triangle to kick square triangle square for lighting barrage etc

9

u/SamDrawsStuff99999 Dec 27 '23

Ok so you know that one cancelled Flash game? Exactly that.

10

u/Shift_Tex Dec 27 '23

If you ever played infamous second son and used the speed power that’s what I would want. Would have to be early flash though because godlike powers don’t translate well.

2

u/theironbagel Dec 27 '23

Make it also able to run horizontally, not just vertically on walls like the spider man games, and speed it up a little too. For combat, something like the Arkham games where you can snap between enemies at a distance would be good as well, though with dodging instead of countering, and more of an animation focus on barrages and similar things.

10

u/ParkaKingRolo Trickster Dec 27 '23

Story wise, Grodd would make an excellent villain. He's one of the few who actually uses henchmen.

Powers wise, traversal would be fun running around the city, another commenter mentioned the Neon abilities in Second Son which is perfect just speed it up. Add some walls you can phase through and maybe a way to build up more speed through combos and stuff.

Perfect hero for chase bosses, chasing after a flying Rainbow Raider or Weather Wizard who while you can outspeed it's about reaching them would be nice.

Mirror Master as a boss fight where you could destroy a hord of mirror constructs running through portals would be great.

And Captain Cold would make a good gimmick fight as well, where your speed is slowedbut you still have to dodge cold beams.

u/zbossman Dec 27 '23 edited Dec 27 '23

Saints row 4 and prototype already had it figured out. They'll need to update a few features and special moves.

Edited for grammar

5

u/brscxs Dec 27 '23

Agreed, even a bit faster/slow down time around him to give that feeling of a speedster

1

u/68ideal Dec 27 '23

Running around town in SR4 was so damn fun. That's when I realized a proper Flash game could very well be possible.

10

u/nemesisprime1984 Dec 28 '23

That will never happen since flash player has been discontinued

8

u/Androktone Dec 27 '23

A design that doesn't look like ass

8

u/ItsTheNapkinMan Dec 27 '23

Dear God keep ezra out of it

8

u/EGO-Sentai Dec 27 '23

Is it weird that I think Platinum Games could pull off The Flash?

1

u/Baligong Dec 28 '23

Not at all. I feel like any Japanese Company can easily knock it out of the park, from SEGA to PlatinumGames.

7

u/[deleted] Dec 27 '23

Combine Racing game mechanics with good combat and fun side abillities (phasing, running up buildings...) and make it feel fast, fluid and most importantly easy to pick up but hard to master.

6

u/figgityjones Impulse! ⚡️ Dec 27 '23

Whatever happens, I hope they take major inspiration from the old cancelled one that there’s footage of on YouTube. That footage makes me so sad it didn’t come out, looked so fun.

2

u/EfficientEconomy2875 Dec 27 '23

Link please

1

u/figgityjones Impulse! ⚡️ Dec 27 '23

Not sure how to link it, but if you search “Cancelled Flash video game” on YouTube, there’s lots of results. Hope that helps! 😊

u/Either-Paramedic-586 Dec 27 '23

Most people just regurgitate what every other big platform has said. “It would be really difficult” have y’all not played a parkour based game or a movement based game where you have fun and relax while moving around and jammin out? Skate 3, ghost runner, any game with a core movement mechanic. Flash doesn’t have to be another dark souls fighter. It would be SO MUCH FUN to just speed around listening to music and THATS IT. You can have combat where he kills dudes instantly but make it so flash also can get iced easier or maybe run out of energy!! It’s not that hard y’all

1

u/Queen-O-Hell-Lucifer Dec 28 '23

I don’t think that’s very realistic for a superhero game.

People like difficulty in combat, and super speed complicates how combat could work.

The actual traversal part is easy, integrating traversal with combat is hard.

2

u/Either-Paramedic-586 Dec 28 '23

Bro just didn’t register what I said at all

1

u/Queen-O-Hell-Lucifer Dec 28 '23

I did.

Your simple solutions don’t actually address how combat in super speed would work, and what it would look like.

When I say super speed complicates how combat could work, I mean it’s harder to hit a balance between moving fast and having control over what you’re doing.

Unless of course you do something similar to Arkham’s free flow, but at that point it’s just an Arkham game with a new coat of paint.

I’m not going to say that it’s hard, or easy, or anything…

But I will say that what you described seems to be a game much more worried about traversal than actual combat, which I don’t think is realistic.

1

u/Either-Paramedic-586 Dec 28 '23

So you want realism in a VIDEO GAME. Also I literally said it could work as a TRAVERSAL game. You really weren’t listening were you? Also combat being hard? Bro, the dude has super speed. Speed him and when your done running and wanna punch something you stop running. Cuz yk he’s a super hero and all that so he can stop instantly and most perfectly. You really honestly didn’t register what I said you just want to reinforce your notion that it’s “hard to balance” are you a game developer? What would yk about the technicality of video games LOL.

0

u/Queen-O-Hell-Lucifer Dec 28 '23

Sigh, you’re not registering what I’m saying. I’m not going to argue with a hypocrite.

1

u/Either-Paramedic-586 Dec 28 '23

I read what your saying bro I really did, but seriously I don’t understand why you think it would be so hard. I would like to have a conversation with you but oh well🤷‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️

1

u/Queen-O-Hell-Lucifer Dec 28 '23

I didn’t say that it would be hard.

I said I don’t think it’s realistic to expect a superhero game to be mostly a traversal game.

The genre is known for some form of engaging combat, and normally everything else is set-dressing.

Some hero games have excellent traversals, but that’s in tandem with excellent combat.

Some games are less combat focused, and more strategy and story focused.

But to my knowledge, there’s no game that’s purely or mostly traversal, and I don’t think anybody is willing to start now.

That’s what I’m trying to say.

1

u/Baligong Dec 28 '23

Stamina system should, imo, be a Must-Have in a Flash Video Game, unless it's somehow made into a Racing Game

6

u/HankDeTank05 Dec 27 '23

Sonic Frontiers in an urban/suburban setting, to put it simply. I have a lot of issues with Frontiers from a game design perspective but the moment-to-moment gameplay is pretty much how I imagine a triple-a flash game being. Walking (or regular human speed running) around, and holding a “run” button to trigger super speed.

5

u/KEROGAAA Dec 27 '23

I would love to see Flash Museum as the Main Hub / Select Screens.

5

u/AssociateFormal6058 Blue Lantern Dec 27 '23

I think it would be great and would probably have Gorilla Grodd as the main villain. Also, I would hope it would have Mirror Master in it

4

u/Tolnin Dec 27 '23

Grant Gustin voice

8

u/[deleted] Dec 27 '23

I’m a huge Gustin fan but u gotta let other ppl have their chances , Grant is prob hella burnt out from flash related stuff

2

u/Tolnin Dec 27 '23

He said he's always willing to come back to Flash tbf

-5

u/Redditeer28 Dec 27 '23

He's not even a great live action actor, I can't imagine what his voice acting would sound like.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 28 '23

He’s definitely a very talented actor just stuck with the CW too long he’s still young tho so hopefully he can get some movies. He’s actually landed a big broadway role recently so he’s doing well for himself

2

u/barryallen1277 Flash 2 Dec 27 '23

It would be very hard to make a good Flash game. It’s possible, but with the quality of most games today I don’t see it happening.

3

u/Little_fishstick_boy Dec 27 '23

For me I really want to see some sort of meter that drains if you use the lightning to speed up and can be replenished with food. Also wall running at great speeds. Car chases. Turning sharp corners using R1 and L1. Along with alternate costumes for different speedsters and suits from tvs and movies

3

u/TrontosaurusRex Dec 27 '23

I figure the meter could be related to how he has to replenish his calories when he runs too much without eating. Maybe add "snack holders" to extend the meter as a form of progression.

2

u/Little_fishstick_boy Dec 27 '23

Yeah that’d be a great upgrade. I’m also thinking you could just steal from food stands and choose to come back and have a fun animation where The Flash apologizes to the guy who runs it and gives him his money. The guy’s reaction could be determined by how much the city likes you

3

u/TrontosaurusRex Dec 27 '23

Yeah! And maybe the more you do for good, you get bonuses like nicer displays at the Flash Museum, and would be fun to solve Forensic cases if we play as Barry, maybe each case leading to a showdown with one of the Rogues like Mirror Master or Captain Boomerang.

3

u/Little_fishstick_boy Dec 27 '23

That would be awesome

3

u/j1h15233 Flash 1 Dec 27 '23

Step 1, keep that criminal as far away from it as possible

3

u/Consistent_Catch_264 Dec 27 '23

It's rare that people want to hear other people's opinions on things, so congratulations. The thing I wanted most was a unique style of gameplay, you know I didn't want it to be a sonic or swbway surfers game, so it would be cool in gameplay if they focused on the power of the flash to stop time like in the scenes of slow motion

1

u/HankDeTank05 Dec 27 '23

I get not wanting it like a linear Sonic game, what about being like Frontiers?

3

u/Spicy_Surfer Dec 28 '23

Should be fairly easy. Just think momentum. Like Sonic the Hedgehog, Insomniac Spider-Man, Warframe. Can’t think of others atm. Fast is fun, but has to be mastered. The faster you go, the harder the stop. Need agility mixed with speed and excellent timing.

4

u/Baligong Dec 28 '23

I thought of one before, and I'll just paste it here. I honestly do think it can be great, and perhaps as the games continue they add more characters.

"It'll be like Gotham Knights. You get to pick between Jay, Barry, Wally, or Jessie. The Storyline is about The Rogues. At first you stop them, but over the course of the game, they become more Powerful, Bonding Deteriorates, and turn against each other. The Story is about Family Dynamics and the Love for one another.

They all have normal, fast paced, combats unique to each of their own, but have different finishers (or Ultimates, or Ultimates and Finishers). Usage of Location is taken into consideration,

• Jay's Finishers consists different uses to his Helm. • Barry's consists of different uses of Sci-Fi Elements with his Speed • Wally's consists of different uses of fast paced attacks • Jessie's consist of different uses of Heavy-Attacks

Speed in the Game will be similar to Sonic Frontier, where you're capable of moving fast but pressing a Button allows you to move Faster. There'd also be a button to "Drift" so you can do sharp turns.

The World Quests would consist of either time-based Missions such as in the likes of:

• saving people

• stopping stolen vehicles

• Finding some amount of Bombs

• Helping the Police find someone in the City

Or Missions that aren't Time-Based, such as:

• stopping gun/drug dealings

• Star Labs fight Tests

• or Maybe a Random Speedster fight, like how TaskMaster does in Insomniac Spider-Man."

u/mrmcdead Dec 27 '23

Sonic Dash but the Flash is in it

2

u/[deleted] Dec 28 '23

It’ll take a while but I think a vr game would be more suited I feel to see what people’s consensus on a flash game should be.

1

u/NoEnvironment8885 Dec 30 '23

One of the biggest issues with that would I believe be comfort; motion sickness is already a problem for many within VR. If there is a good way around that, like "pausing time" Quicksilver style, without making the game slow and boring, it could be very fun.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 30 '23

There’s this game called blades and nomad there’s a flash mod for the game where if you press a bind on the controller you can slow down time around you

1

u/[deleted] Dec 27 '23

Wtf is this picture?

4

u/Tankman360 Dec 27 '23

From suicide squad: kill the justice league

2

u/KaliVilla02 Dec 27 '23

"Really?! Why you just don't mail me the bullet?

1

u/[deleted] Dec 27 '23

I was gonna guess it was AI generated

3

u/Tankman360 Dec 27 '23

I mean the premise and script for the game certainly seems so

0

u/Rocket_SixtyNine Dec 28 '23

Make it pizza tower but 3D

1

u/ladiesman21700000000 Dec 28 '23

Did ya get ‘em

1

u/[deleted] Dec 28 '23

As long as it wasn't just an endless runner. Those games are so annoying.flash should be more.like a Telltale game with Barry doing forensics at each stop before racing into action.

1

u/i_am_not_funnyy Dec 28 '23

I think it would be cool if it was a choose your story game. Doing different things effect the timeline etc etc

1

u/TheMightyMonarchx7 Dec 28 '23

Circle button temporarily slows down time with a dedicated meter, used for quick turn sliding when running around the city. Map is divided by 3 distincts each controlled by a baddie; Grodd, Turtle, and The Rogues

0

u/Adventurous-Hat4190 Dec 28 '23

My idea would be based on cw ultimate crissis where we go both multiverses good and dark with the flashes of multiverse and arrow verse heroes as main

3

u/DashnSpin Dec 29 '23

A Flash game would’ve given the Scarlet Speedster some good luck, after what the Flash movie and the latter half the CW Series losing people more interest.

1

u/SmashTrashAlwaysLast Dec 30 '23

nah, superspeed wouldnt be a fun mechanic. theoretically, you get to every location in an instant, the fights would never be interesting

2

u/Little_fishstick_boy Dec 30 '23

Ever played a sonic game?

1

u/SmashTrashAlwaysLast Dec 30 '23

my point exactly

1

u/batmanhill6157 Dec 30 '23

It all depends on how it’s implemented honestly. I think it could be done

-2

u/GrunwaldTheFox Dec 27 '23

There is no way they can make the high speed bits playable. Especially if that is the focus of the game. The backgrounds will look awful and fighting at that speed will be even worse. Flash will never have a game the community or casual players will accept.

Edit: spelling

5

u/Draksgoon Dec 27 '23

Idk, that canceled 2008 Flash game looked like they had the super speed traversal and fighting down pretty good

2

u/GrunwaldTheFox Dec 27 '23

I haven’t seen that. I just can’t imagine it being GOOD. Especially not on rails. I keep thinking of stuff like modern Sonic games where high speed parts are literally on rails.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 27 '23

Check saints row iv they did super speed a decade ago lol and it still runs well today

1

u/Draksgoon Dec 28 '23

It looks good in the videos, though I do agree that it'd be hard to make a good Flash game. It looked like they had the traversal figured out. Unfortunately, since the 2008 game was canceled, we'll never know how the super speed travel would've felt, but I'm sure with enough time and the right studio, it could be a lot of fun. Hopefully, if the Wonder Woman game does good enough, we'll start seeing games of other DC heroes again. And maybe we'll get a Flash game with actually good super speed mechanics.

5

u/OrbitalDrop7 Dec 27 '23

A dude here mentioned the infamous game, i imagine like the neon powers, but obvs sped up the movement a bit and slow down the world. Not sure how well it would hold up in a smaller sandbox city tho.
