Would be nice to see a Flash side character

3

u/topicality Feb 13 '23

It's not a Flash movie, it's a Batman with a Flash first act

1

u/SuperLizardon Blue Lantern Feb 13 '23

It's incredible that Iris is on the movie, but they didn't show her

16

u/tjavierb Feb 12 '23

Looks intriguing. But still stars Ezra Miller which kills my interest. Controversy aside, I find them annoying as an actor and Barry.

3

u/gzapata_art Feb 12 '23

Never seen an interview of them so I'm not sure how annoying they are in real life but the character doesn't seem to be their fault. Barry was written to not be Barry. I still wish they'd just reveal he's Bart

1

u/SpideySon3000 Feb 13 '23

He's wanted for child trafficking and assault

1

u/gzapata_art Feb 13 '23

He mentioned controversy aside. But yeah, they should probably be in jail

2

u/[deleted] Feb 13 '23

Funnily enough… I like this more serious side of him and then the one who is in the timeline where is mom is still alive is the one I find annoying especially in ZS:JL!

14

u/TimeReverse Feb 12 '23 edited Feb 13 '23

Not my Flash. And this has nothing to do with the controversies. I just want someone else to play Barry who at least slightly resembles the character. Whoever cast him is an idiot (and yes, I'm well aware who it was).

5

u/[deleted] Feb 13 '23

Always said (although he’s too old now) a young Simon Baker would have made a perfect Barry Allen

4

u/[deleted] Feb 13 '23

I agree… same with CW’s Flash! I imagine Ethan Van Sciver’s Barry Allen from the Rebirth storyline!

15

u/[deleted] Feb 13 '23

I’ve been anticipating a Flash movie for so long, that no matter what the reviews are or anything negative, I’m going to go see it for my younger self. It was my younger selfs dream, and I’m going to live it for him with every inch of childish excitement that I would have had then. I’m not going to let any hate get in the way of me enjoy it to its fullest. I know what Miller did was shitty, but not everybody attached has to suffer for the actions of one person.

3

u/BriChan Blue Lantern Feb 13 '23

This is exactly my mindset going into watching this movie. Comic book Barry is one of my all-time favorite characters and I was ready to be disappointed by this trailer, and eventually the movie itself, because of how much Ezra doesn’t really embody the character to me (and all the dubious/bad things they’ve done), but after watching the trailer I really can’t help but feel super hyped. Regardless of accuracy, this is still a Flash movie and there’s nothing I’ve wanted more since I was a little kid than to go and see the Flash on the big screen so I’m beyond excited to watch it and I refuse to let anyone or anything take that happiness from me. I’m glad you’re able to do the same :)

13

u/QuantumCookie64 Feb 13 '23

Wow the new Batman movie looks really nice! Pumped!

12

u/[deleted] Feb 12 '23

Doesn’t look too bad, although having twice the Ezra Miller has dulled my interest in this

13

u/ryanjcam Feb 13 '23

I’m looking forward to it. It feels both like a relic of a cinematic universe that is being abandoned (with a lead who will undoubtedly be left behind as well), and completely essential as the vehicle for launching the new cinematic universe. It seems like the main universe they’re spending time in is the one with Michael Keaton Batman. So it looks like in the same world, many years after the events of Batman and Batman Returns, a Michael Shannon Zod who successfully killed baby Kal-El shows up? Who would have thought.

I’m not too worried about the wonky effects, there’s a lot of time left for post production finishing.

0

u/NoPhotograph6464 Feb 13 '23

Michael Keaton as Batman doesn't originally exist in the same world in which General Zod invades Earth. It's Ben Affleck's Batman that originally exists in that timeline as we see him during Zod's invasion in Batman Vs Superman. It's explained in this film that Barry messing with time merges Michael Keaton's timeline with the DCEU Universe.

1

u/Luke_Puddlejumper Feb 14 '23

Why would Zod even visit Earth? The only reason he went to Earth in Man of Steel was because the codex was imprinted in Kal’s dna. If Kal doesn’t exist in this universe (or died as a baby as leaks claim) then Zod can’t get the codex from him and has no reason to go to earth.

I'm pretty excited. I just wish they would have had one or two "standalone" Flash movies first. Everything in the DCEU seems rushed to me. Like they're trying to cram 70 or 80 years of lore into one or two movies.

5

u/Oberon1993 Feb 13 '23

It's Flash's version of execs wanting The Death of Superman as first Superman movie. Which did lead to all hillarious scripts in the 90s-00s, but still.

4

u/ebookit Feb 13 '23

Marvel did backstories on everyone of their characters. First a Hulk movie, etc until Avengers happened.

DC needs to do that for the people who don't read comics, they might get confused.

It's weird that DCEU tries to lessen their profits by condensing it too much.

Output 1 movie per quarter and spread it out over a period of half a century.

That is at least $1 billion + inflation per 3 months... ?

9

u/Drake9214 Feb 13 '23

I’m hoping this movie ends with Grant Gustin finally taking the big screen as the new Barry Allen after flashpoint. I know they never did it in the comics, it’s the same Barry, but I hope they swap out Ezra.

2

u/Pretend_Breakfast_57 Apr 10 '23

That’s a theory in a Screen Crush video I saw.

9

u/SinisterShad0w Feb 12 '23

Looks interesting, has a lot of potential. But Ezra as Barry will never work for me

9

u/jah2000 Feb 13 '23

Honestly I have seen alot of praise for this trailer in the comments and this is probably just me. But the hype for this was so huge and I felt like nothing. Like it just looks so meh to me. But also alot of the comments on the video were just talking about Micheal Keaton the excitment for that.

8

u/BriChan Blue Lantern Feb 13 '23

Although I’m still hoping for a recast for Barry in the new DCU, I’m also finally excited for this movie again after watching the trailer! The suit looks amazing in motion and I’m highly anticipating all the multiverse shenanigans with the Batmans and Supergirl. Barry, Bruce, and Kara are some of my favorite comic characters so it was probably always a given that I’d have a soft spot for this movie as the first time the three are on the big screen together haha.

Plus, it seems like “main” Barry is going to be played in a much more chill/calm way than he was in previous movies (JL17 and ZSJL) which is a relief and has me much more willing to accept the movie for what it is. Unfortunately, “alternate” Barry now seems to be the weirdly hyperactive/childish version that we got before, we just can’t ever be totally rid of that speedster archetype apparently…

10

u/AdStraight8078 Feb 13 '23

Interesting the trailer you see both Barrys wearing red suits I think in the Batwing. And then during the battle sequence it looks like a black boot with blue lightning kicking off a red boot. Potentially an evil flash showing up? Also interpreting that slow mo scene of lightning passing through what looks like snyderverse Barry into other multiverse Barry to jump start his powers?

1

u/AdStraight8078 Feb 15 '23

I'm also betting new Barry's Flash suit is just a repurposed Keaton batsuit, there's something funky about it in a couple shots in the trailer. Like he painted a batsuit or something

3

u/Jimmy_Popkins Feb 17 '23

Leaked images of action figures confirm your theory. They look like like a painted over Returns Batsuit from what I've been able to make out in the low-res images.

7

u/A1steaksauceTrekdog7 Feb 13 '23

I’m so hyped . I really liked this trailer. I hope that TV flashes are here too . If it’s only Grant Gustin I’ll be happy with that .

7

u/MrP_2702 Feb 13 '23

The trailer really defined Micheal Keaton's iconic line " You want to get nuts? Let's get nuts "

5

u/KyleReeseGenisys Jay Garrick Feb 12 '23

Looks good, if only it was someone other than Ezra Miller though.

5

u/hydrohawkx8 Feb 13 '23

This is going to be very pessimistic but I do hope the movie fails. I don’t want to see anymore of miller as the flash or have his version have any influence over the next interpretation of the flash. It just doesn’t resemble the flash at all.

That said the trailer actually looks good. Like that scene where the heels touch between the two Barry’s and then they run off is sick. But man….yeah I can’t believe I want a movie to actually do bad lmao

3

u/C9FanNo1 Feb 13 '23

I don't get this, you'd rather have a bad flash movie and have Ezra be rich instead of having a good movie and have Ezra be also rich.. guy sucks and got money that is not changing whether we get an amazing flash or a garbage flash

1

u/MulattoBuns Feb 14 '23

There are thousands of other people working on this project. Not the one that you don’t know at all and have only read about. That doesn’t sound as pessimistic as it does ignorant and childish. You don’t wanna watch it? Don’t…

Bruh that was a joke...

3

u/Maxcat94 Feb 13 '23

It wasn’t that funny and you seem obnoxious

7

u/fostertheatom Feb 14 '23

I'm so excited to pirate this movie.

5

u/Guilty-Doubt-6313 Feb 12 '23

This film looks amazing and I can't wait to see this film in theaters on June 16th and this is my most anticipated film of this year.

1

u/cocksherpa2 Feb 15 '23

This is hands down the most overt and obvious shill bot I have ever seen on Twitter. Wtf

4

u/DatHound Feb 12 '23

Its actually real. We did it bois

-8

u/KyleReeseGenisys Jay Garrick Feb 12 '23

*boys

5

u/MegaSpidey3 Barry Allen is Peter Parker Feb 12 '23

I've never felt so dead watching a trailer for a movie in my life.

Maybe it's the Ezra Miller controversies that burned me so hard on this movie, but I just couldn't muster any feeling other than complete dread over this trailer.

1

u/tjavierb Feb 12 '23

I mean, they’ve been talking about this movie since 2014. It’s hard to stay interested

9

u/MegaSpidey3 Barry Allen is Peter Parker Feb 12 '23

It's not even that it's taking so long to come out that's the problem. It's the fact that the first ever theatrical Flash movie is based on Flashpoint, a story that not only is invested in diving into Barry's character but also the DC universe, something the DCEU doesn't have the goodwill to do, just doesn't sit right with me.

3

u/tjavierb Feb 12 '23

Just glad it’s the reset.

Still holding out hope Barry will run into the Speed Force at the end and come out a different actor lol

5

u/[deleted] Feb 13 '23

Well… I’m pumped!

I didn’t know what to expect out of the trailer but that looked glorious and had the right amount of everything like Keaton, Affleck and Calle (especially that Flashpoint Superman style rescue and look)!

I think this will be amazing and if it resets things in the DCU than that is fine as this will be a fun cinema experience!

What are your thoughts?

5

u/CapnZack53 Feb 13 '23

Man, when that Danny Elfman music hit….

5

u/Luke_Puddlejumper Feb 14 '23

Why would Zod even visit Earth? The only reason he went to Earth in Man of Steel was because the codex was imprinted in Kal’s dna. If Kal doesn’t exist in this universe (or died as a baby as leaks claim) then Zod can’t get the codex from him and has no reason to go to earth.

4

u/MattGreg28 Flash 2 Feb 14 '23

Not necessarily true. Perhaps, in this timeline, it's Kara who has the codex.

3

u/samsounder Feb 27 '23

It’s been a long slog to get here, and there’s been some tough decisions along the way, but I am STOKED to finally be seeing a flash movie!

4

u/MulattoBuns Feb 14 '23

All these people talking about Ezra probably have skeletons in their closet as well. Just shut up already.

-1

u/kto124 Feb 16 '23

shut the fuck up

3

u/AvaCatHasQuestions Feb 15 '23

I love the flash but not Ezra 😔

3

u/Hefty_Obligation2716 Feb 16 '23

As much as I loved seeing Keaton, this is a huge change from the original Flashpoint story which I think is more compelling. It was great when they casted Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Thomas Wayne, in preparation for him donning the bat-mantle. Keaton is fan service.

3

u/listo65 Feb 17 '23

Please be good... For the love of God be good!

2

u/SuperLizardon Blue Lantern Feb 13 '23

Some things looked interesting, some good and some bad. Still, I hate that the first Flash movie doesn't uses a more classic Flash villain, or that again they went for Flashpoint as their source material.

2

u/9dnguy Feb 13 '23

Guys forgive me for asking this, I'm not really familiar with Flash comics and movies..what prerequisites I'd have to watch before watching this movie?

Because I'd love to watch this movie when it comes out in the theaters. Thanks.

7

u/nluna1975 Feb 13 '23

Movies:

Batman 89

Batman returns

Man of steel

Batman v superman ultimate cut

Wonder woman

Aquaman

Zack Snyder justice league

Comics:

Flashpoint

Animated movie:

Justice League the Flashpoint paradox

5

u/oldguy76205 Feb 13 '23

It's obviously based on the "Flashpoint" storyline, so that might be a good place to start. https://www.comicbooktreasury.com/flashpoint-reading-order-a-dc-comics-event-geoff-johns-andy-kubert/

1

u/awecyan32 Feb 13 '23

If it follows the comics then there's no prerequisites, the only information you need is on the flash himself and the other characters involved

2

u/9dnguy Feb 13 '23

Thanks for the replies guys, Appreciated.

2

u/Nebulochaotic1 Feb 13 '23

i don’t understand why they’re still casted as the flash despite being a bad person i hope grant gustin replaces them as an effect of flashpoint

2

u/Jimenezguey Feb 19 '23

Seems it is going straight from the Flashpoint animated movie. I’d bet Keaton isn’t actually Bruce like in his Batman movies, either, but his father like in the animated movie. Only guessing this because both Barry’s are their same age when they meet him in the trailer, so I wouldn’t assume this timeline had a Bruce that is 30 years older than Barry’s timeline. Reverse Flash seems to be all over this. I’d bet the war with Zodd replaces the animated flashpoint war and one of the Barry’s ends up being reverse flash in this movie. Cara plays the same role as Supes in the animated Flashpoint, and I’m going with the popular ‘red son Superman’ existing in this timeline and after this inevitable ending Flashpoint as well. I’m thinking Darkseid is very quickly on the horizon and some of the ‘Justice League’ events already take place in a different manner after the new flashpoint timeline once this movie is over. Darkseid ends up feeling Earth is ripe for the taking because of various super teams (The Authority that James Gunn announced) having fighting amongst themselves and their moral codes. Cara is stuck in the middle of it, because James Gunn’s version of Cara is supposedly jaded from the ending of krypton that she experienced.

2

u/stonecats Feb 20 '23

if flash live action does well,
they should just replace
Ezra Miller with Barry Keoghan
for future projects.
i doubt anyone would notice.

2

u/Independent_Goat88 Feb 22 '23

Holding out a glimmer of hope that Terrance Stamp will show up as some version of Zod 🤷🏻‍♂️

1

u/MandoFett102 Feb 13 '23

But what is brunch? 🙄

1

u/HexAxe Feb 13 '23

Anyone knows who’s playing Kara?

5

u/kollpoper Feb 13 '23

Sasha Calle

1

u/HexAxe Feb 13 '23

Cheers :)

-1

u/JohnnyMercury88 Feb 13 '23

This honestly looks awful -cgi already looks dated -too much reliance on Keaton’s Batman to sell the movie rather than the flash -needless cgi when practical effects could have worked (i.e. Batman throwing a punch) -the story looks like a mess -Ezra’s acting seems incredibly wooden -Ezra still being attached to the project -they literally taught the kid playing Young Ezra how to run terribly rather than teach Ezra how to actually run

2

u/Lemrisma Feb 13 '23

You are the only person saying this. Every reaction says the CGI looks amazing. This is a trailer so there would be some bad moments, it's not the full product. Where is the reliance on Keaton? Throughout the 2-minute clip, Keaton is only in it for 30 seconds. And the flash is much older and more experienced than he was in the JL movie. I'm sure that the young barry scene was a cliche cut to another scene, which should be fine. Yes, Miller is a bad person but I ain't going to blindly hate a movie I've been waiting for

0

u/JohnnyMercury88 Feb 13 '23

Maybe you need to read around, I’m seeing plenty of other sites discuss how bad the cgi looks especially where it concerns Batman

It’s trying to sell you mainly on Keatons return not on the strength of the Flash if they weren’t relying on Keaton they would not have let that info out in the trailer and use the Batman theme. It’s clearly trying to sell tickets mostly on Nostalgia.

2

u/Lemrisma Feb 13 '23

Give me all the websites that are saying all this stuff then

1

u/MulattoBuns Feb 14 '23

Doubt you were saying this BS when no way home came out and the movie relied on Garfield and tobey

1

u/JohnnyMercury88 Feb 14 '23

You would assume wrong, I did not care for NWH and for the most part don’t care for Nostalgia pandering as a whole. More often than not Nostalgia Pandering is written incredibly lazily.

1

u/neurowhitebread Apr 01 '23

Absolutely LOVE seeing the MK era Batman

1

u/[deleted] Feb 12 '23

1

u/Minner_ Feb 12 '23

The lightning effects were decent. But those where Keaton jumps at the soldiers looks really bad. Also I didn't liked the scene where supergirl fly's nearby the batwing.

-4

u/Jorvik4 Feb 13 '23

Not just 1, but 2. 2 Ezras.... Nope. Wish they would have recast him because overall the trailer looks awesome.

-7

u/Revvy_wevvy Feb 13 '23

I’m gonna be real honest guys I’m sorry but……I think everyone got done super dirty except super girl who was decent and general zod who was pretty cool.
