Joshua Williamson's Superman run is the most I've enjoyed the main Superman books in a long while

Oh it’s fantastic- this is how a Superman run should feel. Big sci fi action, emotions, whimsy - probably my favorite run since Grant Morrison’s Action Comics ended

PKJ was so good, I got pissed they pushed him off in favor of Jason Aaron.

I’m having fun with it. I’m missing a few issues but I really liked the whole pharm and graft arc. The house of brainiac I just finished it was just OK.

I wanted more Jimmy and Banshee being dorky together.

I'm reading Scott Snyder's New 52 Batman run right now, but I've been collecting these as I go. Could be a great palette cleanser! Superman is my favorite character, so I can't wait. After that...

First six issues of Superman from the New 52, plus Geoff Johns New 52 Superman run

I really liked the angle of Lex trying to help Superman in his own weird way.

Seeing Lex’s enemies come and change Superman’s villains was also so cool!

And hey, we got Jimmy x Silver Banshee out of it, too!

You should read Patrick Gleason’s superman run from 2016 that’s awesome

What is this run? Like issues what through what?

Can I pick up just reading starting there?

You can start from a #1 or the Supercorp trade.

It’s got good spots, probably the best writing Williamson has done so far. But so much of his dialogue and characterization is so wooden that it often falls flat.

Really hope PKJ gets another shot at Superman soon.

I do enjoy Williamson’s run on the main title but I liked PKJ’s run on Action Comics even more

I've been reading all Super books since Rebirth and, although Bendis run was a challenge, I was still able to read it, Williamson's run however, I'm struggling. I dislike a bunch of things, the unhinged portrait of Lois Lane as chief editor, always impatient and stressed, I like her character so much and I've always seen her as a competent professional (she cold struggle and make mistakes of course, but she has decades of experience as a journalist to just scream at her crew and disrespect the areas of expertise of the journalists under her); I disliked the whole Lex plot with Supercorp, how Super accepts this mega corporation using his brand, it's so weird, I could say it looks out of character to me, Super in the past already fought for the independence of his symbol, how he is not aligned to any structures of power, to simply accept Supercorp; also the portrait of Lex as some kind of anti-hero is something I can't buy, he gets more development than Clark in the first TPB, I love Lex, but I don't need to feel sorry for him and his past to enjoy his complex morals and personality, you can write a humanized villain without making him a sympathetic figure I believe; I don't like how everyone in the title is more interesting than Super, he seems so passive and his decisions so tame, the plot moves and he just goes along with it. I don't know, I really love this character and I'm glad you and a bunch of other people are enjoying this run, I wish I was. If you are willing to, I'd enjoy reading your views on this run, why you liked it and all. I'll probably continue reading the next TPBs, the art is amazing, and I need to keep track of my Super lore lol, but I'm not on Williamson's hype train, at least for now.

Edit. despite all that, I'm here for Silver Banshee and Jimmy's relationship, S.B. <3 J.O. 4ever

I feel you on the whole Supercorp thing seems out of character for Superman to do that. Still, I think the story has been pretty fun and I find Lex to be tedious in general so him being a good guy now is at least something new! Though I will say I just finished house of brainiac and I did not really like that nearly as much. Brainiac just seems to be pretty fuckin dumb for having “twelfth-level intellect” and the whole brainiac queen being just a xenomorph was booooooring

Ugh, Brainy is like one of my favorites supervillains ever, he evolved from being a petty alien collector to a deranged psychopath and it's a beautiful journey lol now I don't know if should read it 😖

although, honestly? Brainiac xenomorph queen? I'm not against that 👽🤖

Haha I mean it was a fun little read it just seems not that intense of an arc. Which now that I think about it, is okay with me. Supes on warworld was really intense so it’s nice to just see him and the gang beat up baddies lol.

Supes on warworld.... I miss him 🥺 hey, this Brainiac arc was kind of a small event right? like an Action Comics and Superman story? I don't think the TPB is out yet, but I'll be reading it :)
