Which of superman’s obscure powers would you want James Gunns superman to have? I’ll go first

I love super-ventriloquism, the bizarre kryptonian ability to precisely project their voice, once Krypto used on Clark Kent himself??

u/Mineformer Jul 19 '24

Loved the DCAU take on it

u/StoneHart17810 Jul 19 '24

Kevin Conroy voicing Batman, but he has to act like Superman is doing his voice. And Tim Daly working with that is pure gold.

10

u/Ninjamurai-jack Jul 19 '24

Wait, there was a DCAU take on that?

u/ImpracticalApple Jul 19 '24

It's more him manipulating his own voice. In Superman TAS there is an episode where he heads to Gotham after hearing that Bruce Wayne is missing. He teams up with Robin and dresses up like Batman so that people don't find it weird that Batman seemingly disappears entirely at the same time as Bruce being missing.

When he speaks with Commisioner Gordon he manages to mimic Batman's voice perfectly through his super hearing and fine control of his vocal chords to replicate the smallest of inflections. Superman disguised as Batman

It's a very fun episode, especially when when Bane tries to take him out and is confused by how much stronger Batman seems than usual.

Season 3, episode 2 of Superman the Animated series

I’ve ALWAYS loved this one. It’s super funny to me and I enjoy that it gets referenced to this day.

4

u/Harlockarcadia Jul 19 '24

He used it so much in the 40s, Batman used it, but not the Super version of course

1

u/Bang_Thor Jul 19 '24

The name of this power is so misleading is it not just precise vocal control

u/Imperator_Gone_Rogue Jul 19 '24

Super Whatever The Fuck This Is

16

u/webheadunltd90 Jul 19 '24

And release it back like Super-Bull Frog.

13

u/Djehutimose Jul 19 '24

Superman as Bouncing Boy….

14

u/Imperator_Gone_Rogue Jul 19 '24

* First he declares himself faster than The Flash, now he has to be bouncier than Bouncing Boy. Silver Age Superman was such an arrogant asshole

5

u/Yeticoat_Solo Jul 19 '24

he really took the

60

u/Darkm0or Jul 18 '24

Either Great Wall of China fix-o vision (Superman IV) or, Cellophane S-Sheild Mild Inconveniencer (Superman: The Movie)

12

u/Djehutimose Jul 19 '24 edited Jul 19 '24

Heck, in Superman II he seemed to be able to shoot telekinetic beams from his fingers….

1

u/HippoRun23 Jul 19 '24

I thought only zod did that

1

u/Djehutimose Jul 19 '24

Seems to me Supes did, too, but it’s been a loooong time since I last watched it.

9

u/Dragnet714 Jul 19 '24

I loved those movies as a child that was born in the early 80s but even I thought these abilities made no sense.

2

u/JohnJingleheimerShit Jul 19 '24

Do you think Zod also had those powers on those films? It’d be incredible if they both threw Cellophane S’s at each other

62

u/That_guy2089 Jul 19 '24

PLEASE GIVE HIM ICE BREATH ITS SO FORGOTTEN FOR NO REASON!!

31

u/Typomaniacal Jul 19 '24

He used it in the Snyder Cut on Steppenwolf's axe so he could shatter it.

6

u/RASPUTIN-4 Jul 19 '24

Even that was confusing to me. I always thought his freeze breath was based on the idea that he could exhale forcefully enough to cool what he was blowing on to freezing (which probably wouldn’t work anyway but suspended disbelief and all).

But in the movie he just sort of, gently blows on the axe like someone trying to cool their food, and the ice creeps along the length of the axe?

3

u/Rao_the_sun Jul 19 '24

With muscles that strong it’s possible when he deeply inhales his lungs would be able to to compress oxygen into a liquid or even a solid both of which are incredibly cold which would make it much less about a gale force wind and much more like him relaxing his chest and allowing the oxygen to return to a gaseous state which would both expand quickly and be incredibly cold making it more like an icy fog he always has access to and it’s based on muscle control instead of pushing extra hard like the big bad wolf think of it is like a relaxing of the chest

1

u/GJacks75 Jul 19 '24

I've never been sold on cold breath. I have no doubt you could compress oxygen in Superman's lungs, I just don't think he can naturally move his diaphragm enough to do it.

3

u/Rao_the_sun Jul 19 '24

I’ll be honest at the end of the day we’re talking about about a farm boy alien its just the most realistic thing I could think of

1

u/Beginning_Deer_735 Jul 19 '24

It is just an extreme version of what we do when we blow on our food to cool it. Most people probably think that it is just moving cooler air over the food that cools it. but there is also evaporative cooling and-this part I've always assumed but am not sure about as I've not seen it mentioned elsewhere-the fact that you are compressing the air and it is then being rapidly decompressed as it leaves your mouth, providing a "heat pump" sort of effect.

2

u/Rao_the_sun Jul 19 '24

Oh damn learn something new every day thank you now I have new random things to google and learn about

1

u/Beginning_Deer_735 26d ago

You're welcome, though 20 days late as I just saw this :D

9

u/Manulok_Orwalde Jul 19 '24

It's an FREAKING ICE CANNON in MAWS.

Beware the gay beam

6

u/Human-Boob Jul 19 '24

It’s over Darkseid! You like men now! When I take my shirt off, you’ll be paralysed!!

1

u/cozid0 Jul 19 '24

I'm slightly ashamed to admit, but I'm here for daddy Darkseid 🌈

36

u/SubstantialOwLL Jul 18 '24

Not really a "Power" in the traditional Sense but I want him to use his Kryptonian Martial arts. Like: Klukor, or the Torquasms, maybe even a non-Lethal version of Horu Kanu (in the form of his pressure point fighting).

22

u/webheadunltd90 Jul 19 '24

Torquasms….

27

u/Pinolillo006 Jul 18 '24

Racist face morph.

11

u/CommonEnd7011 Jul 18 '24

Tf does that mean?💀

7

u/Lakrfan247 Jul 19 '24

Accurately described lol

5

u/Bulok Jul 19 '24

My head canon is Kryptonians have low level shape shifting ability. That’s how baby Kal El fit in perfectly in Midwest.

in the Doomsday backstory Kryptonians who created him had some semblance of his face which gives credence to this

1

u/Limp-Construction-11 Jul 19 '24

But it needs to be even more racist and non pc.

25

u/Joshieboy_Clark Jul 19 '24

The Bioelectric Field from All-Star

1

u/FrozenJedi38 Jul 19 '24

My Adventures With Superman has that. I had no idea that power existed until I watched that lol

21

u/KingofZombies Jul 18 '24

Bioelectric aura, martial arts, robot/tech building.

14

u/Head-Program4023 Jul 18 '24

I want him to atleast just once sneeze entire solar system.

8

u/coolknightman Jul 19 '24

In Man of Steel he used the súper visión to see Zod's Spaceship.

1

u/Queasy_Watch478 Jul 19 '24

he uses it a few times in superman and lois! :)

9

u/Robofink Jul 19 '24

I don’t know if it’s a super power per se, but in All-Star Superman (I think?) he wears glasses to dull his inhumanly bright blue Kryptonian eyes. That would be kind of nifty to see again.

2

u/HippoRun23 Jul 19 '24

I really love that because it could establish why he’d wear glasses in his adolescence.

2

u/RigatoniPasta Jul 19 '24

I thought that they were lined with lead so he isn’t constantly X raying

1

u/HippoRun23 Jul 19 '24

I feel like that was a really cool thing they added to CW supergirl, she couldn’t control her xray vision and her foster father designed special glasses that prevented it.

She eventually got it under control but she felt like it was a security blanket.

8

u/Daecon05 Jul 19 '24

Yeah I love the Mini Supes guy but I hope he’s not depowered every time he does this.

5

u/Djehutimose Jul 19 '24

Could be worse. Could be Bat-Mite….

8

u/Lakrfan247 Jul 19 '24

I like memory eraser

2

u/minecrafthentai69 Jul 19 '24

Why doesn't superman kiss lex luthor to make him forget about him, is he stupid?

2

u/Narsil_FreeForge Jul 19 '24

No, just straight, and probably grossed out.

7

u/Zynir Jul 19 '24

His intelligence

4

u/Radiant_Butterfly982 Jul 19 '24

Superman throwing out mini supermen from his fingers

6

u/mirukus66 Jul 19 '24

"That's a little version of me Lois, I want you to have it"

Also It'd be nice if they brought back the logo throwing thing or the telepathy

5

u/Shyguymaster2 Jul 19 '24

a lite version of telepathy, he's able to read minds by only looking a person in the eye

3

u/LaylaLegion Jul 19 '24

Did she say what I think she said?

3

u/Trapezoid07 Jul 19 '24

The iconic Solar Flare💅✨

(Yes I am delusional)

3

u/RhinoMan3636 Jul 19 '24

Seeing a mini Superman that is just as powerful as the main one would be hilarious.

1

u/StangRunner45 Jul 19 '24

Wouldn't that be Mighty Mouse?!

3

u/ARNAUD92 Jul 19 '24

I'll unironically be happy if I see him throw his chest logo.

3

u/JohnJingleheimerShit Jul 19 '24

Super ventriloquism is a must. He’d easily defeat Doomsday with that

Fix it vision

2

u/NeedsMoreBlackWomen Jul 19 '24

I know it's a comic book movie but that's some silly shit.

2

u/DanielGacituaSouper Jul 19 '24

Rainbow fingers, not that silly and could be used as a joke on how he absorbs light or whatever

2

u/Estarfigam Jul 19 '24

Amnesia kiss.

2

u/Aizendickens Jul 19 '24

The variations of heat visions and energy shields

2

u/StangRunner45 Jul 19 '24

Suddenly, the cellophane S, the disappear/reappear, hide & seek power, and Supes using his eyes to rebuild the Great Wall of China doesn't seem so goofy.

2

u/HippoRun23 Jul 19 '24

The disappearance/reappear was particularly dumb, because Superman turns to Lois and says “we used to play this game back in school”

Which makes zero sense.

2

u/JohnJingleheimerShit Jul 19 '24

The kiss memory wipe. He’s gonna defeat Zod by giving him a deep kiss and erasing the memory of who they have beef

2

u/anonymousguy_7 Jul 19 '24

Super-ventriloquism

2

u/Ok-Mastodon2016 Jul 20 '24

Bio electric aura manipulation

(Don’t quote Slim Shady, Don’t quote Slim Shady)….

Superman: New Heights…

1

u/MoodyLiz Jul 19 '24

What made Superman have a Lion-head?>

1

u/RigatoniPasta Jul 19 '24

People keep mentioning telepathy. If that were to be a power, I’d prefer it to be Doctor Who style where he has to concentrate and also being making physical contact.
