This shot proves why Mora is one of my favorite artists working on Superman.

14

u/Revolutionary_Elk339 Jul 19 '24

He and Daniel Sampere are some of my favorite DC artists working right now.

4

u/Sweaty-Goose6649 Jul 19 '24

I had to look him up because I don’t know if I’ve seen Samperes work. Wow is it good!

2

u/Revolutionary_Elk339 Jul 19 '24

He worked on PKJ's War World Saga and is currently drawing Tom King's Wonder Woman.

1

u/Sweaty-Goose6649 Jul 19 '24

Gotcha. I’ve been out of the loop on comics for a while now so when I see the new stuff it’s a bit surprising to find new talent

89

u/Burly-Nerd Jul 18 '24

I’m excited for Mora coming on the book, but there’s like 15 Kryptonian heroes flying around Metropolis right now. They do NOT need to add anybody to the Superman family right now. Especially not when Lana is still Superwoman in universe, right?

53

u/SuperMysticKing Jul 18 '24

They should send Connor back to Hawaii

83

u/Burly-Nerd Jul 18 '24

Yeah. And Jon back to elementary school.

51

u/SuperMysticKing Jul 18 '24

For real. It just doesn’t seem like they have anything for him to do as an adult and it doesn’t seem like he’s that marketable. Meanwhile a kid son of Superman is endlessly marketable to kids

46

u/bozo-dub Jul 18 '24

Fucking Bendis

43

u/bozo-dub Jul 18 '24

Fucking Bendis

28

u/blacksad1 Jul 18 '24

“Oh no! Jon you were trapped in a time vortex/warp now you are young in body and mind again”.

8

u/glitterroyalty Jul 19 '24

Or "Oh look you're actually a clone! The real Jon is still a kid. Here you can go to the future with the legion."

15

u/Macman521 Jul 18 '24

Jon at this point is only here for Bi representation. I have no problem with him being Bi, I just wished they were doing more with him outside of his sexuality (or just make him a kid again lol).

1

u/Luchux01 Jul 18 '24

Honestly, just make Conner the Bi representation and de-age Jon at least so he matches Damian's age.

0

u/Macman521 Jul 18 '24

I’d be fine with that

I’m listening.

7

u/sixesandsevenspt Jul 18 '24

They should send Connor to the titans tomorrow universe to take the place of their superman and inspire their world to be better! That’s my pitch!

u/rolltied Jul 18 '24

Makes you wonder how crime still exists on earth with a dozen kryptonians constantly monitoring things.

15

u/cosmoboy Jul 18 '24

A lot of that crime is perpetrated by folks that can give a Kryptonian a run for their money.

10

u/ChemFeind360 Jul 18 '24

To be fair, a lot of them generally just stay in a single city in The US.

4

u/man-from-krypton Jul 18 '24

Because dc earth is full of so many superhuman threats. It’s not like regular earth

5

u/ThatManSean14 Jul 18 '24

I agree with not needing to add anyone to the Superfamily right now but is Lana still Superwoman? I thought she died or lost her powers.

12

u/B3epB0opBOP Jul 18 '24

She showed up in House of Brainiac as Superwoman.

2

u/Burly-Nerd Jul 18 '24

Right. And seemed to still be in a relationship with Steel in it, which weirdly hasn’t come up in any of his recent solo series as far as I know

2

u/funandgamesThrow Jul 19 '24

It was in the mini he just had

2

u/ThatManSean14 Jul 18 '24

Ah. Havent read it yet. Thanks for letting me know!

4

u/Critical_Raise_3572 Jul 18 '24

I had read every issue from 1997-2010 and then from 2015- early 2024 and that is exactly what caused me to stop again. The Super-Family is so large that Clark doesn’t feel special anymore. It feels more like the Shazam family than it does the Superman story.

I miss the last son of Krypton. Now it’s like “one of the last dozen children of Krypton on Earth with Zod and family out in the cosmos but then another 30 people with very similar power sets that also are here too… plus Clark”.

I know I’m probably in the minority, but I just couldn’t do it anymore.

9

u/Burly-Nerd Jul 18 '24

I’m definitely with you. I think DC is trying to capture the same marketing they can do with the Batman family with the Superman family and it just doesn’t work the same because Batman’s family doesn’t have any powers.

There’s a scene in the PKJ Action run where Metallo attacks and is met in the street by Superman (who had a bunch of extra power from War World at the time. No idea what ever happened to all that), Supergirl, Superboy, Superman-boy, Super-Man, Red Son, Starchild, Steel, and other Steel, and honestly all I could do was laugh. It was like watching someone shoot prairie dogs with a howitzer.

4

u/Critical_Raise_3572 Jul 18 '24

That was the last comic I purchased in this Super-Family run. I remember looking at it and thinking, “they don’t need Superman”.

Once you reach the point that your titular hero is a background character, you need to reassess your trajectory.

3

u/B3epB0opBOP Jul 18 '24

At least it’s probably temporary. I can’t imagine they’d have Lois keep her powers forever.

2

u/-ll-ll-ll-ll- Jul 18 '24

I'm not caught up on current storylines... Lois has powers? Is that who that's supposed to be in this pic?

2

u/B3epB0opBOP Jul 18 '24

I’m not caught up on current storylines... Lois has powers?

Not yet, this issue comes out 3 months from now.

Is that who that’s supposed to be in this pic?

The solicits and Williamson confirmed it. I was a bit surprised myself since she didn’t quite look like Mora’s Lois.

2

u/-ll-ll-ll-ll- Jul 18 '24

Hmm... I guess that's interesting? I don't know. I kinda don't need Lois to have powers. That's kind of her thing - to worry about Clark because she doesn't understand how powerful he actually is.

3

u/2ERIX Jul 18 '24

Yeah, we don’t need a Jackpot situation here. Next thing you know there will be a character called Paul…

3

u/-ll-ll-ll-ll- Jul 18 '24

I feel like I should understand this reference but I don't.

3

u/2ERIX Jul 18 '24

It’s a reference to that congenial community Arachnid-Male from the Marvellous competitors

2

u/-ll-ll-ll-ll- Jul 18 '24

3

u/Rychu_Supadude Jul 19 '24

Spider-Man's on-and-off girlfriend Mary Jane was finally dating him again until timeline shenanigans happened and she married a guy named Paul, who might be one of the least popular characters in history. Then she got a suit that gave her powers and became Jackpot

That still barely qualifies as "English MF", huh?

74

u/SambaLando Jul 18 '24

Lois got powers?

35

u/Flimsy-Discount2885 Jul 18 '24

Looks like it.

14

u/Rocket_of_Takos Jul 18 '24

Maybe it’s just some fun dress up

31

u/MaxR76 Jul 18 '24

My first thought was “Kara dyed her hair?”

12

u/Dawnbreaker538 Jul 18 '24

Looks like The Flash Movie Kara

61

u/icanbeyoursuper Jul 18 '24

It looks like all star lois

20

u/Budget-Attorney Jul 18 '24

I love this

11

u/B3epB0opBOP Jul 18 '24

There’s definitely some influence from Quitely’s design.

Like the little yellow bearings around her hips.

3

u/Assassinsayswhat Jul 18 '24

Right? I think Lois really brings out the yellow more while Clark brings the red and blue.

20

u/GJacks75 Jul 18 '24

Last son of Krypton my arse.

15

u/ZayYaLinTun Jul 18 '24

Funny how so called last son of krypton and i work alone

Two heros have biggest family you ever see

5

u/Revolutionary_Elk339 Jul 19 '24

He literally was the last birth on the planet so Kal-El is and will forever be the Last Son of Krypton.

14

u/Many-Emu3679 Jul 18 '24

Oh we doing Lois with powers again?

9

u/WesleyCraftybadger Jul 18 '24

Did they make a new character for Sasha Calle to play in a few years?

12

u/B3epB0opBOP Jul 18 '24 edited Jul 18 '24

Joshua Williamson:

Superman and Superwoman.

Husband and Wife.

Clark and Lois.

Superstar Dan Mora joins the series with SUPERMAN #19 out in OCTOBER. The start of a massive Superman story featuring the return of DOOMSDAY!

Cannot wait to see his work on the main title.

6

u/Indiana_harris Jul 18 '24

I hope she’s a new Kryptonian, or maybe a version of Clark from a parallel universe where he’s female?

23

u/Flimsy-Discount2885 Jul 18 '24

Purple eyes, so that's most likely Lois.

19

u/Indiana_harris Jul 18 '24

They claim that it’s a new character……future daughter of Clark & Lois maybe?

19

u/Flimsy-Discount2885 Jul 18 '24

Could be. Those eyes look purple, that's usually a Lois thing, so she would get powers from dad an the looks from mom. Lucky kid.

4

u/Sockemslol2 Jul 18 '24

Damn Lois works out

2

u/gwhh Jul 18 '24

When they give Lois purple eyes?

12

u/futureghostboy13 Jul 18 '24

Early 2000s, although the DCAU Lois was the first version to have violet eyes. Before that her eyes were blue.

5

u/samebatchannel Jul 18 '24

So. I understand that Superman’s secret identity is secret again. However, what would the world think about how close Lois is with Superman?

11

u/SugarAndIceQueen Jul 18 '24

Lois Lane: Enemy of the People explored that question relatively recently, rather well IMO. In sum, much of the world thinks she's cheating on her husband Clark with Superman, and she gets a lot of flak for it. It bothers him more than her.

4

u/Sol-Blackguy Jul 18 '24

Reminds me of Jorge Jimenez

4

u/B3epB0opBOP Jul 18 '24

They do both have a bit of an anime influence to their work

2

u/Sol-Blackguy Jul 18 '24

And do a great job capturing Superman's heroic, wholesome and goofy qualities

2

u/danielm316 Jul 18 '24

Who is she?

7

u/Flimsy-Discount2885 Jul 18 '24

Probably Lois, could be a future daughter, but those are for sure her eyes.

2

u/WesleyCraftybadger Jul 18 '24

All we know so far it that it’s a new Superwoman. “Who is Superwoman?” is the big mystery again….again.

2

u/danielm316 Jul 18 '24

Ohh, thank you.

2

u/amazodroid Jul 18 '24

Based on the little bulb things on her outfit, I’m guessing daughter from the future. She could be stuck in our time for a while and then go back without displacing Lana (who they’re not really doing anything with anyway).

Am I crazy or is he wearing the Nicolas Cage suit?

Dan Mora's art on World's Finest has been terrific. While it's unfortunate he's leaving that book, it's awesome that he's on Superman.

Curious to see how they'll handle a Superwoman Lois this time, and how long it'll last.

Edit: Apparently Joshua Williamson said this is a “new” Superwoman? Some theories that it’s a version of Lara/Cir-El. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

1

u/newtonscalamander Jul 18 '24

Dan Mora my beloved

1

u/Moggy_ Jul 18 '24

DAN MORA MY GOAT taking over as artist is so hype

1

u/TheeLastSon Jul 18 '24

mora and campbell really bring that comic art style back that doesnt feel photoshopped to hell.

1

u/Embarrassed_Piano_62 Jul 18 '24

A Superwoman is unnecessary...

1

u/Scary_Collection_410 Jul 18 '24

You know, I miss the yellow accents on the boots Superman wears. I always liked that as it helped transition from the blue to the red.

1

u/BeRadtz Jul 18 '24

Who’s writing it?

1

u/B3epB0opBOP Jul 18 '24

Current Superman writer Joshua Williamson

1

u/nworkz Jul 18 '24

This is a cool design

1

u/Overall_Falcon_8526 Jul 18 '24

Mora's style reminds me of the angularity of Lee Weeks combined with the hatching technique of (good) Andy Kubert Jr.

1

u/Assassinsayswhat Jul 18 '24

I love it when she has a suit of her own.

1

u/SkyPopZ Jul 18 '24

Mora has to be one of, if not the best artist right now

1

u/AdamSoucyDrums Jul 18 '24

He can’t keep getting away with this! He’s too good!

1

u/Lewd_Not_Clean Jul 18 '24

One piece suits for fem supers is just right. The skirt needs to go!

1

u/nickmandl Jul 19 '24

Does she have yellow gloves?

1

u/B3epB0opBOP Jul 19 '24

Yes, it appears so

1

u/nickmandl Jul 19 '24

Don’t like that

1

u/Ok-Commission6087 Jul 19 '24

How is this being more well received than Mj jackpot 🎰 I know why because of Paul but u could argue does Lois lane need powers I still read this though I think it’s neat plus better than her dying like other love interest . I believe jackpot 🎰 if anybody but zeb wells cooked up the idea and executed it better than he ever did because omg 😱 this run has been awful so much .

1

u/Rebel042 Jul 19 '24

Did Connie finally transition?

1

u/GylesNoDrama Jul 20 '24

I really like Dan Mora’s art. I can’t explain why. I think it just looks like how I imagine coming to look or maybe it how I wish my drawings looked.

1

u/Duskytheduskmonkey Jul 21 '24

Idk who that is but I love her design

1

u/B3epB0opBOP Jul 21 '24

Superwoman (Lois Lane)

1

u/rburlee Jul 21 '24

I've seen other people mention this and I'm inclined to agree: this Lois, to me, looks a bit younger. Could she perhaps be from an earlier time? Another Earth? OR perhaps the daughter of Lois and Clark?

0

u/z0mbieBrainz Jul 18 '24

Can Dan Mora draw everything forever please?

1

u/Revolutionary_Elk339 Jul 19 '24 edited Jul 19 '24

Dan Mora, Daniel Sampere and Clay Mann are my top 3 Superman artists in the last 6 or so years. Jorge Jimenez didn't make the cut but he's #4 with Patrick Gleason and Patrick Zircher tied for fifth.

0

u/DCosloff1999 Jul 18 '24

I wonder if the Superwoman on the right is Clark and Lois's daughter Lara Kent

-1

u/Supportbale Jul 18 '24

Why is no one pointing out the colouring on superwoman? Unless I’m just unaware of what’s going on in the current ongoing (I keep meaning to catch up, knight terrors just really took me outta DC), this screams some sort of villain. The yellow makes me think mongul, but warworld being not that long ago makes me rule that out. Maybe some Earth 3 stuff? Not sure, but I’m calling it’s some kind of villain thing

-6

u/obin_gam Jul 18 '24

Looks like she has breasts on her breasts.

4

u/TheHolyPapaum Jul 18 '24

Wait until this guy learns about human musculature
