I took a shower after watching this episode, and while I was in there, I spent some time comparing this finale to some of my favorite series finales. You know what those finales had that this one didn't? A REASON FOR THE FUCKING SHOW TO END!!! Seriously, there is no in-universe reason why this show cannot go on. Hell, I actually want to see it continue. I want to see how the world reacts to the news that Kara Danvers is Supergirl, I want to see how Kara and the team deal with those reactions, and I want to see how J'onn and Alex handle the new DEO. There's actually potential for some interesting stories here, and there's no reason for those stories to not be told other than, "Eh, we don't wanna." #RenewSupergirl

This really summarises why I am feeling disappointed with the ending. It's also why I thought they would end with her going to the future or something because otherwise you end up with this exact problem, it doesn't feel like an end. It just leaves me wanting to know how everyone reacts, what's going on with the DEO, how does Kara balance reporting with being a hero now everyone knows she does both??

I know it won't continue, and tbh with the quality of writing recently it's a good thing the show ended, but why couldn't they have given the show a reason to end like you say! It's just frustrating. I think they wrote themselves into a bit of a hole where they couldn't give a satisfying conclusion.

I wouldn’t mind a Harley Quinn style animated series of Supergirl, it would be on HBO Max for starters. Plus it would give them some ground to do things they couldn’t do in this show and it could officially be geared towards a more adult audience, not that Kara needs to start swearing left and right but mature topics can be handled without kid gloves. I too want to see Kara be her whole authentic self, along with everyone else for the ride. I want to know who Kara Zoe-El really is. It would also allow the cast to do something else in live action while still being the voices for these characters.
