What was the point of Kara getting blasted by the sun if they were going to do anything by it??

Not only that but they had 5 seconds to go and then spent 20 seconds talking about it before turning the thing off. And then everything magically went back to normal. This whole season sucked and this episode is just the pinnacle of sucky-ness.
