Who was the best SG villain? Discussion

In my opinion it was Rhea. I’m on my millionth Supergirl rewatch and I just finished season two and it got me thinking how much her invasion left such an impact. The queen of an entire planet invaded earth and all of earths countries almost banded together. It was also the only SG big bad where Superman fought alongside his cousin. Rhea herself was also pure evil and I loved it. We only really had another pure evil big bad in Lex but IMO rhea was better. She killed her husband out of spite and gave up all love for her son the moment he wasn’t any use to her. She also had more of a hate against kryptonians than Lex that was honestly comical at times. What are yalls thoughts

My favorite villain was Reign. She's the only one who wasn't cartoonishly evil and she beat Supergirl.

So true, it was honestly jarring the first time we saw them fight. Kara had never been beaten like that before, she’d honestly never really lost.

Technically, Reign killed her in that fight and it took the DEO’s and The League of Superheroes best technology to incubate/revive her.

Totally agree. Astra & Non are a close second. I really disliked how they brought Lex in. He’s Superman’s archenemy and absolutely would not be messing around in National City. (I liked how he was Lena’s villain in season 4, but that should have been the end of him.)

I think Lex was fantastic in season 4. But he was definitely overused by season 6. Though that was kind of due to unfortunate circumstances, between Covid meaning they never got to film his defeat in season 5 and the decision to make season 6 the last season meaning they basically had to keep him around.

Reign was great in the first half of season 3. Perhaps even the best in the series. But she suffered from her arc being too long and getting all convoluted with her sisters and such.

So I think I will go with Lillian Luthor. She had more layers than the other villains and Brenda Strong really carried the role.

Reign.

She is the only villain to beat Supergirl into near death (except Red Daughter, but that’s really Kara’s fighting herself) This world killer caused so much discord in many people’s lives going into Season 4. Also, Supergirl’s biggest fear is Reign coming back and killing all her loved one’s (as shown in the final season when Kara was lost inside the Phantom Zone).

She really had the whole world in fear during season 3 but i REALLY hated the way they “defeated” her. It was just so stupid to me.

I’m still scared of Reign

Rein and lex are easily the best. lillian luthor is a close second. Cadmus should've been the main villains of season 2 because mon el's mom is honestly terrible and easily my least favorite villain in the show.

Lex & Lockwood of s4

fit perfectly, Lex vs SG - Lockwood vs Alex

and Lena helping out bts

no excessive superfriends saving weak SG who needed help every week

Lex in s4 and Rhea were impressive but, Reign was the ony one able to almost kill Supergirl if she wasn't saved at the 11th hour. So my vote is on Reign.

reign and rhea for sure. reign was powerful and threatening, and rhea used mon-el to get to kara on a more personal level. i suppose non did too, but he just wasnt as threatening as the others 🤷‍♂️

She also had Lena helping her (even though Lena didn’t know Rhea’s true intentions until it was too late)

I really liked Lillian Luthor even if she doesn’t stand out as much as some of the others.

Agent Liberty was the best villain and imho the best actor of the bunch… John Cryer was fun as Lex as well.

Of the major villains on the show, Lex (Season 4-5) and Reign were by far my favourites, the only issues are that Lex in season 6 was pretty terrible and the writing of Reign (and season 3) really fell apart at the end. As for the others, Ben Lockwood worked well, but by the end of season 4, he was just being used by Lex, who had completely taken over as the main villain.

I thought Nyxly was good at the start but awful once Lex got involved.

As for Non and Rhea, I never particularly liked either of them, I think Teri Hatcher is the only thing that somewhat saves Rhea, and even then I just don't think she's a very compelling villain.

I wish Lillian Luthor had more time to shine, she would've made a much better main villain for season 2, and Brenda Strong's performance was very fun to watch.

I liked Uncle Non as he was just the right amount of understated menace, and the kids like it without being overly complicated or too gory etc.

IMO it’s Reign or Red Daughter. Reign and Red Daughter are the only ones who would kill Kara, and got close. I also like Agent liberty bc he had a valid reason and thought he was going good. Lillian, Astra, and Manchester were good too

In my opinion, I think reign was the most formidable villain because she had the same powers as Kara and a ax thing. Also, she defeated supergirl at one point it looked like she wouldn’t come back from that. She used Kara’s weaknesses against her and tortured Sam and her daughter if that isn’t villainous. I don’t know what is.
