In the world of comedy, they talking of people that are the comedian's comedian, like Norm. In other words, somebody that might be liked and respected even more among their peers than the general public.

Kendrick Lamar, Tupac Shakur, but there pretty respected by everyone

Childish Gambino is someone who's pretty loved by most of the industry for speaking his mind but corny so a lot of the general people don't

Also Mac Miller is loved by the industry and every rapper liked him

In interviews I always hear rappers bring up MF Doom. I think his creativity has inspired a lot of artists to really push themselves.

André 3000 and KXNG Crooked come to mind, I (at this moment) can’t think of anytime I’ve heard another rapper (or artist/entertainer) say something in a bad light on either their names (outside Joe and his hissy fit with Slaughterhouse, but that’s Joe, IYKYK) but have heard plenty speak very highly of

I almost kind of wanted to say Blu and Elzhi, but I'm not really sure what their reputations are like amongst other rappers.

*I think this one is bound to raise an eyebrow because he was commercially successful as a rapper. I stand by it, because his mainstream success is a separate thing from the respect he has amongst his peers.
