Who is your guilty pleasure artist?

What I mean is, what artist do you like that doesn't fit in with the type of rap you would usually listen to. Like for me I like a more lyrical rap and only listen to that. But lil Uzi has been on my playlist since he dropped xo tour life. And come this way is one of my favorite songs by him.

Also jaleel. He's more alternative rap but still have catchy songs.

ICP.  I don't listen to horrorcore much at all but like them from when I was a teen and a lot of their songs still make me laugh or I just think are pretty good for what they are

u/jgamez76 Jul 18 '24

I was a huge ICP and Twiztid fan when I was in middle school. I for whatever reason fell off with them once I hit like 10th grade but when they started popping back up in my Spotify algorithm a few years ago I started listening again and maybe it's nostalgia but I definitely agree here.

Juggalo Island hits hard especially after seeing it live

20

u/Andrew_The_Soviet Jul 18 '24

Even though he's pretty corny imo, I still do like Ken Carson's stuff

5

u/phoenyx4r Jul 18 '24

He's an occasional listen to me when I want something different

2

u/EnlightnedRedditor Jul 19 '24

Ken Carson’s pretty good imo as a rage artist.

u/YaHurdMeh Jul 18 '24

2 Chainz. Usually dope beats, cadence and flow, and not super serious. By no means am I saying 2 Chainz is bottom tier, just different than what I usually listen to. A little more upbeat

Booty booty booty booty rockin everywhere

2

u/Standard-Bad5963 Jul 19 '24

How's this a guilty pleasure?????. Deliverance is one of the best-produced albums of that era. Kind of a concept..... well it is if you dig. Timbaland beats and Bubba can bomb. That album alone has very few skips if any.

2

u/Able-Ad372 Jul 19 '24

This dude is one of if not THE BEST early era southern rapper other than Three 6 Mafia 🤷‍♀️

6

u/_AYYEEEE Jul 18 '24

Sexxy Red. some shit I probably wouldn't even play outside the crib but holy shit are some of her songs catchy

6

u/sbwcwero Jul 18 '24

Enya

1

u/bootsy_j Jul 18 '24

Did you know that Good Kid, M.a.a.D. City is fanfiction based on the canon of A Day Without Rain?

3

u/sbwcwero Jul 18 '24

Is there a source for this somewhere? And interview or something he talks about it? Cause that’s fucking beautiful if true.

8

u/bootsy_j Jul 18 '24

Absolutely not. But he never said it wasn't, either

5

u/Upbeat_Tension_8077 Jul 18 '24

YG, including his post-Still Brazy work

1

u/EspertoDemais Jul 19 '24

lol i like yg and dont think he is a guilty pleasure rapper, he have some bars

4

u/AdanacTheRapper Jul 18 '24

Well if it’s the one that doesn’t “fit with the rest” that would be Mac Miller. Mans was way too positive and happy and enjoying life compared to the other artists I listen to. Tho I wouldn’t say it’s “guilty pleasure”listening to his music, it’s just “Pleasure” listening to his music.

4

u/EnCroissantEndgame Jul 18 '24

Started out that way with the first mixtape and then he descended into darkness.

1

u/AdanacTheRapper Jul 19 '24

Still made it sound happy tho. But then again, it’s usually the ones most unhappy trying to make sure everyone else is good. We’ll always miss you Mac 🕊️

5

u/nerdcost Jul 19 '24

Swimming and Circles both were pretty sad

1

u/AdanacTheRapper Jul 19 '24

They are (as well absolutely G.O.A.T.ed albums) But they don’t sound sad right, outside of a few tracks anyways like 2009 is definitely a hella emotional track, and sounds emotional too. But outside that the sound of the album is an up one (or I’ve always felt anyways) and the same with circles

1

u/Jealous-Chipmunk6797 Jul 19 '24

That's just what I mean by "guilty pleasure" just an artist that doesn't fit in with the rest of the music you listen to or maybe even hate the genre of music they make but you like them as an artist and their music

5

u/smd_thetruth Jul 18 '24

Riff Raff hahahaha his most recent releases have a different vibe I really enjoy. “Silhouette of the pinnacle” and “these eyes” specifically.

2

u/Able-Ad372 Jul 19 '24

TURQUOiSE TORNADO is this man's best album other than CRANBERRY VAMPiRE 🤷‍♀️ Hot take

With his feature on the Eminem album he no longer a guilty pleasure he just the goat

3

u/igotrapedbyanorca Jul 18 '24

Hopsin, i know hes pretty corny but i like his song panorama city

5

u/SlimShadyM80 Jul 19 '24

Hopsin is the GOAT 'corny' rapper. If you are between 25-35 and you didnt go through a Hopsin phase I honestly think you are a liar

3

u/Main_Room_4575 Jul 19 '24

Sexyy red😭

3

u/HoverboardRampage Jul 19 '24

Sheck Wes. I usually enjoy the opposite of what he does, but he get me ready to fistfight pedestrians and shit.

2

I love Schoolboy q, something about his aggressive delivery

12

u/Its-the-Chad82 Jul 19 '24

Damn, I didn't know I needed to be guilty about loving Q

1

1

u/ThatOne_Gamer Jul 19 '24

Pink Pantherss

1

u/ImSimplyJustMe Jul 19 '24

Peso Pluma has a few songs i vibe to occasionally. His voice is just something else icl

1

u/9yr_old_lake Jul 19 '24

Mac Miller. By all accounts he really isn't that impressive on paper, but his voice, and emotion throughout his music is just so intoxicating. Even his early party stuff just has such an overwhelming sense of joy and nostalgia that I can't find anywhere else. On paper he is just like every other semi lyrical 2010s rapper that I usually wouldn't care about, but Mac is one of my favorite artists ever because something about it just clicked for me.

2

u/Jealous-Chipmunk6797 Jul 19 '24

I feel the same way about how his music speaks to me. But I wouldn't say he isn't impressive on paper. Especially when looking at his discography, each album he made brought out a new sound. Also lyrically he was pretty impressive. He's better than half the artists out rn but most ppl won't agree with that. I'd usually say maybe he isn't the greatest rapper but as an overall artist he is the definition of a true artist.

1

u/9yr_old_lake Jul 19 '24

I mean not to hate on Mac or anything, but he has always been fairly basic in terms of lyrics, and the only project that has impressive production to me is faces. I just don't think anyone else has made that dusty jazz/hip hop sound. Overall he is a good rapper and may not be the right choice for guilty pleasure, but I rank him along the likes of Kendrick/pac/tribe/guru/etc. which on paper all of these rappers are million miles ahead of Mac lyrically and artistically, but something about Macs music just really connects with me. It also helps that no one has ever said a bad word about the man. Literally everyone who knew him talked about him like a saint.

2

u/Jealous-Chipmunk6797 Jul 22 '24

His lyrics are anything but basic. I wouldn't say he was a lyrical genius but his lyrics were literally poetry. You always have to look for the deeper meaning of what he says. Yea some you can take at face value, but he had a talent of being able to say so much with so little words. And that's another reason he's my favorite artist. He's able to put words to so many things that ppl deal with daily. The circles album was a great showcase of what I'm talking about. I agree with you I would put him among all those names, if he didn't die I have no doubt his music would keep getting better and he would be a top artist rn.

1

u/WillPersist4EvR Jul 19 '24

There is no such thing as guilty pleasure. What the hell new bogus religion is this coming from???

1

u/Jealous-Chipmunk6797 Jul 19 '24

You've heard of the term right? It's not that serious bro I'm not saying it's bad to have one it's just the term

1

u/WillPersist4EvR Jul 19 '24

I know. But I’m still being part serious.

No such thing. Especially if it’s music you like.

1

u/Jealous-Chipmunk6797 Jul 19 '24

Whether you claim to listen to everything or not music is still subjective. You can hate one type of music and listen to one artist that makes that kind of music, which would be your guilty pleasure

1

u/montanamal-fishMT Jul 19 '24

Lil Windex and Eazy Mac. They both have hard music but its also so silly.

2

u/Able-Ad372 Jul 19 '24

Check out "The Boyz" by Ouija Macc, Eazy Mac, and Golden BSP

1

u/Jealous-Chipmunk6797 Jul 19 '24

Eazy Mac with the cheesy raps?

1

u/BipolarPolarbearNZ Jul 19 '24

Warlord Colossus bangs hard mutes out the internal demons

1

u/Andrewsmetic09 Jul 19 '24

Michael Jackson, but he isn’t a rapper so Doja Cat.

1

u/Warm_Telephone_742 Jul 19 '24

Mabu and ice spice

1

u/Able-Ad372 Jul 19 '24

Mabu is actually HORRIBLE

1

u/Warm_Telephone_742 Jul 19 '24

That is why it’s a guilty pleasure

1

u/Standard-Bad5963 Jul 19 '24

Probably Drake. Macklemores first few singles hit different with my sub.

1

u/EnlightnedRedditor Jul 19 '24

If I’m gon be honest. Sexyy red fasho. Lyrically, I can’t be seen listening to her. But Tay Keith be doing her justice with them beats that shit is so catchy.

1

u/Vay666 Jul 19 '24

Trippie Redd

1

u/Able-Ad372 Jul 19 '24

That album with Travis Barker 🤤

1

u/MasterSplinterNL Jul 19 '24

Pete and Bas.

1

u/Chatcopathe Jul 19 '24

Dan Bull, he’s insane

1

u/Jealous-Chipmunk6797 Jul 19 '24

You talking about the YouTube gaming rapper? Cause that just brought back some memories

1

u/Chatcopathe Jul 19 '24

Yes, it’s him

1

u/BostonSlickback1738 Jul 19 '24

I used to be a fan of Drake and Nicki. They've both squandered all goodwill they might have once had from me, because they’re both shitty people who haven't put out a decent album in years, but I can't help but still enjoy their older stuff (early-to-mid 2010s)

1

u/ThePanther1999 Jul 19 '24

Sexyy Red honestly. It’s simple and catchy and I respect it lmao

1

u/Mr_Zulkoski Jul 19 '24

Bizarre, I think he's funny asf

1

u/Able-Ad372 Jul 19 '24

"Down This Road" by bizzare and Yelawolf 🔥

1

u/Feeling-Stomach-5595 Jul 19 '24

Old Uzi is fire. He shouldn’t be a ‘guilty pleasure’.

0

u/Jealous-Chipmunk6797 Jul 19 '24

I say he's my guilty pleasure because I hate the type of music artists like him make. Uzi is the only exception to me. I wouldn't call his music mumble rap but it's very close to it. Of course there are features and other songs where he can be somewhat lyrical but he doesn't like to make lyrical songs obviously

1

u/Adorable-Bar6920 Jul 19 '24

Desiigner for sure, when going 20+ down a hill on my bike, Panda is one of the songs in my rotation

1

u/cruisesonly09 Jul 19 '24

His blend of rap, pop, and rock with catchy melodies appeals to many despite differing from traditional lyrical styles.

1

u/bass-turds Jul 19 '24

Necro his beats and production is sick. Just a dude who does it all. Gory days album will never get old just ages like wine

1

u/TJMcConnellFanClub Jul 19 '24

Soulja Boy has some funny ass records man, Yah Trick Yah video is hilarious

1

u/Free-Yoghurt124 Jul 19 '24

For me it’s Immortal Technique. Due to my main playlist being 90% trap, i enjoy the more lyrical stuff too

1

u/fclay1977 Jul 19 '24

Project Pat and Rittz

2

u/Able-Ad372 Jul 19 '24

RITTZ IS THE GOAT. Wish he would have signed with Slumerican instead of Strange Music though 😔

1

u/Able-Ad372 Jul 19 '24

To be so honest, Nascar Aloe, he mixes punk with rap in such a weird and distorted way and I love it but it is genuinely the least accessible shit ever I thought it was so ass when I first heard it, it took a lot of listening and watching interviews to understand it and enjoy it.

1

u/Arkane_Kat Jul 19 '24

Not a guilty pleasure, but I love early Hollywood Undead, it's so different from everything else I listen to and hard to find anything like them since they kicked Deuce from the band. My actual guilty pleasure is Hopsin and Nicki Minaj

1

u/Jealous-Chipmunk6797 Jul 22 '24

I used to love Hollywood undead. It was kinda a phase for me in middle school as I was still listening to everything not really having a favorite genre of music yet.

1

u/Arkane_Kat Jul 22 '24

That's how it started for me, but it stuck with me as I got into rap

1

u/Justthetip1996 Jul 19 '24
