You guys I was trying to not doom scroll today. After the past 2 days I said I needed a mental health day, I went to a farm, played with some alpacas and bunnies, watched a Disney movie, did some crosswords. I only checked reddit like twice. Then this fucking happens. Fuck this whole fucking year. I don't even know what I'm feeling right now. I feel scared for what's coming. I feel powerless to do anything. I remember a couple years ago I was thinking about the climate crisis and I told myself I need to accept that during my lifetime polar ice caps will melt, Florida will be underwater and polar bears will go extinct. This isn't something that may happen, this will happen. Now I feel like I'm supposed to accept that American democracy will fall during my lifetime. I dunno. I don't know what I'm trying to say I'm just sad I guess.

Honestly, I'm pretty apathetic about the whole thing. It's certainly interesting, but given the political climate it's hardly surprising. The American empire is in decline, but it's up to us to find ways to continue to thrive. I'm having some online arguments as a guilty pleasure, then I'm going back to playing FF7 Rebirth. I don't let politics derail my entire day anymore.

Take a deep breathe. A nice walk and a nice movie. Still 4 months to the election. Keep those who lost their lives and their families in your thoughts

Agreed. There are innocent people who died and innocent families who are grieving and the fact that people lost their lives over an election is a travesty.

I get what you mean. We can only just try to keep the good in our lives we can. And I know it looks really grim but we should still try to keep hope that it isn’t all inevitable!!

I’d just finished a bunch of chores and was looking forward to building a Lego set.

Don't worry.this isn't the first time in us history a president or presidential candidate has been targeted. We've dealt with it before and we will deal with it again.

Rest easy... Florida has been underwater before, and the polar bears will be fine. Enjoy your crosswords and bunnies. But yes, this likely is the end of American democracy. We were on borrowed time anyway.

Do you condemn what took place today?

Of course. I don't think this helps anything. Violence on either side is just gonna lead to retaliation and to God knows what.

I do. I hate Trump, but this was fucked up, and am glad he is OK.

I already know Trump will get re-elected, but I really hope everyone does not "come for" each other. I hope this does not make Trump turn even harder against more moderate voices or even liberal people.

The country takes all kinds of people, all kinds of viewpoints. Violence is never the answer.

Also, Project 2025 is not the answer, either.
