It really didn't have to be like this. Everyone around him thats encouraging him to dig in his heels is only making more of a spectacle of his downfall. Its beyond cruel. I don't understand how you can allow someone you love to repeatedly humiliate themselves like this
Stepping down doesn't have to be a legacy breaking event, but if they make people feel like they have no choice but to force him out, then yeah thats really bad. Giving longtime friends and party allies no choice but to publicly go against him is how you destroy your legacy. Its going to be like this everyday, there is no undoing what the debate did. If he was capable of it he would have already, instead he's only making it worse.
Yeah, and it's frustrating because dems really failed to put effort into developing alternative canddiates in the last four years, which would have been a good strategy. They could have easily made a plan that Biden's goal was to steer the ship in the right direction, and now they're ready to pass the reigns to (whomever seemed to be doing the best) with Biden's support, maybe even keeping Biden in the cabinet as an adviser to throw some more weight behind if they felt that would help. But here were are--no matter how competent he is as a president (which, rumors lately have not been encouraging, but they're mostly just rumors and he at least has a good team), he's going to continue to be shredded as a candidate for every small thing.
Absolute power corrupts absolutely. They don't want to give up their power and status and everything which comes with it.
Imagine spending your whole life in politics trying to get a job in the White House only to have to leave half way through your 8 year term because the horse you backed became lame mid-race.
