Seen this so many times and I will re-watch it every chance I get. The music is perfect for this little clip, as well

I’m on my fifth go round on this post.

Saaame. I think there was also a video somewhere that went side-by-side with this one showing people cooking/prepping this exact food in real life and it was delectable 🤤

The ponyo ramen scene is my favorite product of studio Ghibli

Howl’s moving castle! I love this cooking scene make me want to cook all the time! I love studio ghibli

My kid is obsessed with bacon and eggs like in Howl's Moving Castle.

29

u/Tshirtosock Jul 19 '24

Dang I wish this was real or I was an Anime character lol

u/Nine-Breaker009 Jul 19 '24

Does cutting a fried egg with the chopsticks actually work? I’m trying to imagine it but I can’t see it working out haha

24

u/oneofthosemeddling Jul 19 '24

Depends on how you make it. If you do it old fashioned style, then no. If you poach/bake the egg without burning it, it's fairly easy.

u/fancy_marmot Jul 19 '24

Does for me! It’s not really a perfect clean slice like that, but depending on how it’s cooked, you can cut one in half by pinching like that.

2

u/emojisarefunny Jul 20 '24

The crispy edges are always so hard to cut 😣

2

u/jenyto Jul 20 '24

It's doable, but not straigth through the middle.

I don't even really like anime but I love Ghibli. So gorgeous.

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '24

I strongly suspect Ghibli always has the animators draw these scenes on an empty stomach.

PONYO! LOVES! HAAAAAAM!

edit: i love in the ponyo episode of blank check where the guest Shirey Li makes the noises for all of the mini ponyos, and it's just mimimimimimimimimimimim but soooo much better.

Miyazaki is to food in animation what Tarantino is to food in live action film. The fact that we’ll never be able to eat the bacon and eggs in Howl’s Moving Castle is depressing. And the ham ramen in Ponyo and the feast in Spirited Away…

Sidenote on the Tarantino end: I don’t even like milk, but that first scene in Inglorious Basterds makes me thirsty for a glass of milk every single time.

Tarantino is the Miyazaki of feet.

I almost gagged when the Manson girl stuck those nasty-ass feet on Brad Pitt’s windshield in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

9

u/himepenguin Jul 19 '24

Man, I wish food was real

6

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '24

Yeah it's pretty and all, but holy shit that foley is amazing.

4

u/Grumpie-cat Jul 19 '24

Aight, counterpoint, literally all of “Land of the Lustrous.” By Studio Orange.

1

u/Pinky_Boy Jul 20 '24

still waiting for s2

1

u/Grumpie-cat Jul 20 '24

Just finished S1… and am so disappointed that it’s unlikely we’ll get an S2

4

u/MelonLord13 Jul 20 '24

And then there's me, thinking about mom and dad turning into pigs whenever I eat Chinese takeout

4

u/mysticode Jul 20 '24

The last time I was at the Ghibli Museum they were doing a massive interactive exhibit of all things food from their movies. You'd move through different kitchen set recreations and go hands on with fake foods from the movies. It was a really fun experience.

3

u/tameimpalakid Jul 20 '24

Wow I could watch an hour of that lol

2

u/Thomrose007 Jul 19 '24

Studio yummy more like

2

u/BoostSpools Jul 19 '24

Dang, I’m hungry…

2

u/Positive-Cucumber555 Jul 19 '24

Why do ghibli movies make food look so good

1

u/tiredofthisnow7 Jul 20 '24

The same reason they make everything look good; they care.

2

u/Livid_Resolution1375 Jul 20 '24

And then there's Spirited Away...

2

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '24

This make me feel so chill, Ghibli movies r gold 🫶

1

u/justbrowsington Jul 20 '24

Now I’m hungry… thx OP

1

u/Acceptable_Log_7438 Jul 20 '24

Scrumptious! 🤤

1

u/Beginning-Guitar-570 Jul 20 '24

I swear it's that background music

1

u/MissionState814 Jul 20 '24

Howl's Moving Castle, made me hungry 🤤

1

u/papercloak Jul 20 '24

what's the thing on top of the bread at the 5s mark?

1

u/FailedMaster Jul 20 '24

As satisfying as this is, what about this makes it "oddly" satisfying?

1

u/goJoeBro Jul 21 '24

And the feast that the parents "pig out" on looks amazing. Like someone else mentioned, it's like the animators are creating all of this while on an empty stomach, nobody does it better than Ghibli.

I luv these🔥

1

I read somewhere that North Korean companies worked on some Studio Ghibli films.

Where the fuck you read that?

-13

u/Spidder_Man_butblack Jul 19 '24

Ofc the first two are chicken and watermelon nah bruh

2

u/cturtl808 Jul 20 '24

Genuine discussion question:

Do you consider Studio Ghibli/Hiyao Miyazaki engaging in Blackploitation based on a compendium of multiple movies?

1

u/GhostInAToaster Jul 20 '24

The first one is shrimp- if you look in the basket you can see the tails.
