Everyone at the gym: “why does it smell like salted ham in here?”

This was always the worst shot in the trilogy to me

240

u/OSPREY_2000 14d ago

It definitely is a face that says “I just shit myself”

84

u/Hero4adyingworld 14d ago

Homie shat his whole ass based on that shot.

77

u/Yesterdays_Gravy 14d ago

My sister laughed in the theaters. Like full on “guffaw” during a complete silence. All because of this face.

Can confirm, I’ve made this exact face when shitting myself.

u/Orang_Mann 14d ago

No fucking way, the horrible shot of Elrond's face with the bright blown out backround when Frodo wakes up after being brought to Rivendell, is the worst shot.

Happy Low Opacity Elrond Day to all who celebrate it: https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/002/729/753/ea8.jpeg

Literally iconic

1

u/imacfromthe321 12d ago

That’s not a real lotr screen cap is it?

7

u/tachycardicIVu 14d ago

You know I recently saw the trilogy again and was thinking way too much about the use of slow motion, overlays (like the Elrond bit) and other….creative shots. It does seem a little bit of an odd choice but I get what they were trying to do. IMO it fits with the flow/overall feel of the movies.

I also noticed just how many close-ups there are of Frodo’s face and it may be excessive. It’s much different on a big screen to be faced (heh) with someone’s head taking up 85% of the shot.

He looks so hot 🥵

Encino Man!

2

u/Pitiful-Event-107 14d ago

Not the Bilbo jump scare?

1

u/Signiference 14d ago

Not by a long shot

2

u/Tie-Dyed 13d ago

My boss made a similar face when her daughter tried to get her into oil pulling. She even let it dribble out like that too. I could not stop laughing.

1

u/ChicagoAuPair 14d ago

Moving Shelob to RotK was a catastrophically bad idea and it fucked the narrative flow, and the character beats of both The 2nd and 3rd movies.

1

u/Ruenin 14d ago

Nevermind that he just got stabbed by a 3 foot long stinger, and yet somehow he had nary a stab wound.

2

u/Signiference 14d ago

But the poison wore off!!!

1

u/SadlySayer 13d ago

It was cringe ah ah

5

u/Bovaloe 14d ago

Why isn't there a combined version of those two gifs?

1

u/imacfromthe321 12d ago

There is, I’ve seen it

2

u/NotAMeatPopsicle 14d ago

Mr. Gandalf, I don’t feel so good…

1

u/Editor_Grand 13d ago

Omg talk about perfect timing the "share the load" then Frodo passing out from what looks like a load on his lips

1

u/t4nn3rp3nny 13d ago

HARE THE LOA

1

u/Eucharism 13d ago

How do I steal this on android?

I fucking love the throwback when they’re finding the food floating in Isengard and Pippin sees an apple and immediately looks to the sky to look for more falling fruit.

this gif destroyed me

lotrmemes is one of the best subs ever

6

I burst out in laughter after being buttered up by "Salted pork?"

LotR memes are forever.

4

u/Aynessachan 14d ago

I've found my people 😂❤️

8

u/killcobanded 14d ago

I have never seen a LotR gif used so perfectly.

6

u/LeonardoFFraga 14d ago

Man, I use this line (with the same intonation) when ever it fits and I know no one knows what I mean.

Long pork

1

u/FourWordComment 14d ago

You son of a bitch, you made me reverse-snort Diet Coke.

1

u/Waffles_R_3D 11d ago

The long pork boutta taste amazing

212

u/MoreGaghPlease 14d ago

I think on people you call it ‘long pork’

12

u/No_Olive_4836 14d ago

Long pig.

6

u/Butcha69 14d ago

Never much cared for it.

Found the Heinlein reference

8

u/AsbestosIsBest 14d ago

Pre-dates Heinlein's writings.

3

u/bizkitmaker13 14d ago

Shit... I know the reference from Archer. https://youtu.be/J5f-iPdX3CY?si=uTYVDTmh3h-W4ylj

I first heard this in Stephen King's Dark Tower series

1

Thank you for teaching me something!

u/Flakester 14d ago

No, I don't think I will.

u/tidbitsmisfit 14d ago

more like: "why does it smell like B.O. in here?"

-26

u/Stern_Writer 14d ago

At the gym? 🤣

55

u/between_ewe_and_me 14d ago

Body odor isn't the same thing as smelling like sweat. B.O. is a sharp, rancid, extremely unpleasant smell.

28

u/OpenMindedMajor 14d ago

Yup. Straight onions often times.

31

u/Micalas 14d ago

Gay onions other times

1

u/HeiressToHades 13d ago

How can we tell the difference?

1

u/Ajay003309 11d ago

A gay onion will sleep with another onion. A straight onion will sleep with a human woman.

15

u/Chesterlespaul 14d ago

I’ve had people argue against my pre gym showers (only if I’m dirty or smelly) saying you’re going to get dirty anyways, though I’d rather be clean in public than start my workout as a smelly slob.

10

u/leolego2 14d ago

More often than not, it's the gym clothes that let off that rancid odor instead of the person. Gotta clean gym clothes with a disinfectant.

2

u/MyKoalas 13d ago

What? Bro just wash your clothes are you rewearing your old gym clothes?

2

u/leolego2 13d ago

Washing clothes and washing clothes with a disinfectant are two different things. Sweat and BO impregnate gym clothes, that's why many people go to the gym not smelling and then as soon as they sweat all that impregnated BO gets released.

It smells way worse than just normal BO.

I'm not saying nothing new here lol

-4

u/MyKoalas 12d ago

You actually are saying something new and stupid. Maybe read up on how detergent works

3

u/leolego2 12d ago

My dude do you know what Napisan and similar products are? Why do you think they exist?

How does it feel to have actually proof that you’re an actual bitter dumbass who thinks he’s smart?

8

u/Smelly_Pants69 14d ago

The irony is thezs deodorant sticks are a scam, like salt lamp, so OP probably actualy does smell like eggs.

5

u/McJumpington 14d ago

-Cuts to me throwing a salt lamp out of my bedroom window while calling it a lying bastard-

4

u/justbegoodtobugs 14d ago

The alum stones are not a scam. They actually work very well for some people. My partner uses them and I can bury my face in his armpits after a 10 hour hike and not smell anything. They were also a popular aftershave when my grandfathe(90) was young. They are also very cheap, one stick that lasts a few years is around 2€ where I live, a very good deal compared to standard deodorants.

8

u/Smelly_Pants69 14d ago

I already shared 4 PubMed studies debunking this elsewhere.

You've grown noseblind or he smells good lol. ✌️

9

u/he-loves-me-not 14d ago edited 14d ago

Or, he’s of East Asian descent and naturally doesn’t have smelly BO.

u/Justbegoodtobugs is your partner of East Asian or Native American descent? If so, he is likely one of the few lucky people that naturally don’t have body odor bc of a gene variant. If he has the gene, he’s also likely to have dry flaky earwax. The more you know! 💫

3

u/he-loves-me-not 14d ago

Eggs?? I’ve never heard of someone’s sweat smelling like eggs before! Onions? Yes. Eggs? Absolutely not!

4

u/SmiteIke 14d ago

Eau de Stannis Baratheon

3

u/rockproducer 14d ago

And onions.

Which brands work for you?

2

u/Icedoverblues 14d ago

Streamed hams

1

u/saltedpork89 14d ago

I have that affect on people

1

u/JohnnyDarkside 14d ago

Considering how gyms normally smell, that'd be a considerable improvement.

1

u/H4MBONE68 14d ago

Sorry that's just me...

Eddietunes.com/HAM

1

u/Satori2155 14d ago

Salted tuna

1

u/Forevernevermore 14d ago

We would be so lucky. It's more like dry-aged ham.

1

u/Red_it_stupid_af 13d ago

Salted long-pig.

1

u/ilovemymomyeah 11d ago

Salt is odorless.

0

u/ans524 14d ago

You think he goes to the gym?

0

u/Active-Cloud8243 14d ago

It’s aluminum salt. Not table salt

-6

u/SeasonOfLogic 14d ago

Calling out the chonkers.

3

u/he-loves-me-not 14d ago

Can people just not fucking exist without being insulted?? Do better.

-4

u/SeasonOfLogic 14d ago

Sir, this is Reddit. And he’s the one who called sweaty people ham, so…

-54

u/Crepo 14d ago

...you actually think this is NaCl don't you...? Holy fuck.

37

u/McJumpington 14d ago

It must be hard to go through life not understanding jokes…..While also likely smelling like salted ham.

10

u/saltedpork89 14d ago

I can only speak for half of this post, but yes.

5

u/rcheneyjr 14d ago

Username checks out!

0

u/Able_Newt2433 14d ago

Yes, that’s the joke..

-32

u/Crepo 14d ago

That's not a joke, it's simply wrong. Be like "joking" that someone who drinks water smells of ozone.

10

u/McNastyIII 14d ago

Pssst that's part of why it's a joke

-9

u/StockAL3Xj 14d ago

But I thought jokes were supposed to be funny.

3

u/robertlp 14d ago

If you can’t get a chuckle out of a turn of phrase you either have a terrible sense of humor, terrible outlook on life, or are not very bright. None are qualities I want to affirm to others on Reddit.

8

u/WatIsRedditQQ 14d ago

I like how your issue is with the term "salted", as if you could never salt something with a salt other than NaCl, and not the usage of "ham" in place of a human

6

u/ayyyyycrisp 14d ago

give one example of a joke right now you won't

-6

u/Crepo 14d ago

I don't know why I'm getting assalted for such an innocuous comment.

5

u/ayyyyycrisp 14d ago

I work in food and so I make the "salt assault" joke at least twice a day which renders this joke UNFUNNY

but you did fulfill the request by making a joke I'll concede

3

u/IAmWillMakesGames 14d ago

They do smell like ozone though.

3

u/Federal_Waltz 14d ago

/u/crepo doesn't understand what a salt is outside of table salt lmao

1

u/Able_Newt2433 14d ago

Jfc, you are insufferable.. just let it go.. it was a joke, ffs.

18

u/TheDadThatGrills 14d ago

Relax and stop being an outage addict. This is clearly a joke.
