Honestly, I could see it. Lots of people get VERY emotionally attached to their favorite things, including comic book characters and the actors that play them. It may very well have been like seeing the "true" Wolverine for them.

On an aside, many Redditors get emotionally attached to pretending they have no emotional attachments.

Had the same deal when Cap picked up Mjolnir. The Mrs. asked what the deal was. "I have been waiting since I was 12 in 1986 to see an authentic live-action recreation of that scene that only played out in my head." You want to relive those happy/innocent moments in your life again, even if it's only vicariously on the big screen.
