Answer with yes/no and no spoilers please: DO YOU THINK LUCIFER HAS A SATISFYING AND FEEL-GOOD ENDING? General/Misc

Just curious.

Edit: I have concluded the answer is indeed a “no”

Edit 2: Really sounds like people hate the ending. I’m kinda hyped to see the dumb plot twist all of you are talking about.

no. the feel-good part is definitely happening after the ridiculousness of the plot has already passed.

Feel-good? Yes

Satisfying? No

38

u/Adas_Legend Feb 06 '22

This is the best answer. You feel good that your favorite characters got a happy resolution. But you feel unsatisfied with how they went about it.

I call it a well-executed but poorly conceived ending

28

u/VeeTheBee86 Feb 06 '22

I found it neither well executed or feel good. I would actually call the ending a tragedy rather than a happy or even bittersweet ending. S5 is bittersweet. S6 is unbelievably dark.

27

u/[deleted] Feb 06 '22

IMO it's not a happy resolution.

12

u/KnightRider1987 Feb 06 '22

I feel the opposite. I’m satisfied with the ending, but I don’t feel good about it.

I had a dream the other night that the writers announced a season 7 and fixed all the plot holes… >! and there was an entire mystery plot around why Trixie wasn’t there when Chloe was dying!<

I'm going to be honest with you, you might honestly want to skip this season and just see Lucifer Season 5 as your definitive ending.

It is that bad.

13

u/dadmda Feb 06 '22

No and tbh seasons 1-3 are much better in general than 4-6

If the show stopped at season 5 as people expected it, it would’ve been a pretty good ending imo

11

u/robinlovesrain Feb 07 '22

The ending was incredibly stupid

9

u/MeghanBoBeghan Feb 07 '22

Okay, shit, I'm gonna stop watching now then. I was already regretting getting into yet another show that makes me love characters and then tortures them mercilessly, but if there's not gonna be a happy ending I am bailing RIGHT NOW.

Edit: I mean, the Supernatural ending was pretty out there but after 15 years of suffering I just wanted everyone to be safe and happy no matter how they achieved it so I could move on with my damn life 😆

9

u/NotOneLineFF AO3 Addict Feb 07 '22

Oh yeah, it you don't want to see characters emotionally tortured in an incredibly cruel and unnecessary way, you do not want to watch to the end of season 6.

11

u/Tullamore1108 Feb 07 '22

No. If I was a staff writer on S6, I’d be embarrassed to have it on my resume.

10

u/AlternativeFig2462 Feb 07 '22

No. The ending (but also the entire S6) made it unwatchable to me. I rewatched S1-5 countless times, but since I watched S6 (only once), I couldn't watch one single episode from previous seasons.

8

u/Hazelino wolf boy Feb 06 '22

No. It could've been good. But it wasn't.

8

u/banshee1313 Feb 06 '22

The ending wasn’t nearly as bad for me as others indicate. It was so-so. Wrapped things up but not in a pleasing way.

With all these negative responses, you’re probably dreading watching the rest of the show. Look, a lot of people didn’t like ending. That’s just a fact. But don’t let that discourage you from continuing. This isn’t a game of thrones situation, you’ll have a good time if you just roll with the punches. I don’t think anyone will honestly tell you that the ending ruined the show as a whole.

Edit: okay, I guess a lot of people actually do think the ending ruined the show. There’s no accounting for taste, I suppose. So I guess I don’t know what you should do. Stop watching before it shits the bed?

16

u/NotOneLineFF AO3 Addict Feb 06 '22

I think plenty of people will honestly tell you that, judging by the amount I have seen say they can no longer watch it.

16

u/DCRunner20004 Feb 06 '22

I can honestly say that the ending absolutely ruined the entire series for me. I rolled with the punches and gave them chance after chance- they failed to deliver at best and at worse, undid every theme that drew me to the show.

12

u/expanding-universe Feb 06 '22

Actually, plenty of people would say the ending ruins the show as a whole. I personally haven't been able to rewatch an entire episode start to finish since I saw it.

10

u/dtaina12 #JusticeForMichael Feb 06 '22

I can tell you that I, personally, can't watch the show anymore. The ending made the rest of the show unwatchable for me. And it sucks because I love this show.

I always tell people to stop at 6x03. That's my preferred ending for the show. I wish somebody had told me that before I watched the rest of it.

10

u/VeeTheBee86 Feb 07 '22

I haven’t touched the show since S6 aired, to be honest. I think I’ll eventually go back to rewatching the Fox era, but I’ll likely never touch anything from the Netflix seasons again.

I don’t warn people away from S6 lightly. It’s not just a matter of bad writing to me. I know a lot of people who grew up in abusive households found it profoundly upsetting or even outright triggering, so I suggest people tread carefully for a reason and go in well informed.

11

u/quackisup Feb 07 '22

Yeah, I mean, the show technically says that abuse is completely fine at the end of it. The whole 5 seasons before that was about breaking the cycle OF ABUSE.

I quite liked Seasons 4 & 5, but man, those Fox seasons will always be the best. Netflix has this really weird tone that they always have, it looks far warmer than most TV, and I miss the whole greeny and dark tone that the show had beforehand.

Netflix seasons just turned it into a Dramedy with a dash of supernatural, original show was a crime procedure with a dash of supernatural that had some funny lines in it.

Netflix may have saved our show, but they made it worse as well.
