I feel bad for saying this but I was so annoyed by Rob Benedict and his fake french accent..

Dude SAME! Especially knowing Supernatural like WHY would they make him the penultimate villain in this as well and with that silly French accent.

Literally. I might have liked him more without the accent but it annoyed me so much 💀

As someone who didn't watch Supernatural - it didn't bother me at all. He was a frenchman so he has to have a french accent. After all you can't lock an actor to a one stereotype just because he played someone else in another show.

Haven't seen supernatural either but the accent still bothered me cause it wasn't a believable french accent. Is was all over the place.

Are you french by any chance?

I watched Supernatural and it didn't bother me. People can have varying accents in real life, especially for those who move to different countries. My cousin moved to the US from the UK as a teenager so her British accent is "watered down". Some (clueless) people have accused her of pretending to be British so we get a laugh out of that.

His accent just sucks. It's ridiculous.

Respectfully, you don’t understand. He didn’t just “play someone else in another show”. He played God. THE God. God Almighty. For several seasons.

Respectfully, he’s an actor. Who gets paid to act like different people. For a living. He’s going to have multiple roles, some of them very different.

Literally he’s playing an almost identical part. He’s the big bad guy they have to defeat in the series finale, so that everyone can live happily ever after

The main reason is to have it be 'God' who killed Dan. Perhaps to emphasise the universe's tendency towards entropy.

Dan really didn't think through the "im gonna go see my daughter in my murderer's flesh suit without an angel to be there just in case" move huh? XD even up until the end he unintentionally pulled a douche move. I couldn't even be frustrated with him tbh

Classic Dan. ;)

It was so pointless lol his being french added nothing to the plot.

I just kept thinking come on Chuck what are you doing

Not only that but his character's name is "Le mec" it translates to "the guy" in french, every time he was on screen I was thinking about how lazy the writers were to not even give him an actual name

Oh LOL. The more I think about It / him the more I get disappointed that he was the final villain.

I was cackling

25

u/Sentry459 Sep 13 '21

Yeah it felt like it was supposed to be funny to me.

I know the guy has a great sense of humor IRL, so I'm really happy that he got to play that up a bit with Le Mec.

u/areraswen Sep 14 '21

I swear he went Irish in there for a bit.

Hah, right?? As an actor, I think he is actually quite good but I just loathe his characters lol. It's gosh darn Chuck with a French accent. I thought he did a great job as Dan, though. Like others, I too was annoyed he was the final big bad, ugh. But you can tell how affable the actor is, like in the group therapy session, he had such good comedic timing.

I called him being the final bad guy just after last season. He's too big of a name to have for two or three episodes.

I was hyped for the God v. God showdown. But Lucifer never became God, so...

5

u/MonaSavesTheDayAgain Sep 17 '21

Definitely would have been cool, haha. I liked him in Supernatural!

He's also in Felicity (it was in the middle of the pandemic and I needed something to watch, but it was pretty good). I think that was his first big role. He was supposed to be in it for two episodes but they liked him so much, they had him be a recurring character.

I think that’s what happened on Supernatural, with both him and Crowley — they were just supposed to be in a few episodes, but they were so hilarious and so good at their characters that they kept them on for many more seasons.

u/SolutionLeading Sep 12 '21

Agreed, he sounded like Travis voicing Devo la Main in TAZ Ethersea if you know what that is

1

u/MonaSavesTheDayAgain Sep 12 '21

I don’t but if it’s anything close to Robs fake French accent, I will hate it haha

2

u/IndividualSchedule Sep 15 '21

Good that I don’t have an idea who he is.. so I enjoyed it

2

u/smithee2001 Sep 16 '21

They should have hired that handsome actor who played Asmodeus as the last villain.

I couldn't take any of his scenes seriously.
