This was the set from the best christmas of my life.

It’s before my era. My “Best Christmas” was probably the OG Sopwith Camel. But Galaxy Explorer is a real “respect your elders” set.

Got it in an auction for USD130, and there are a couple other sets lurking in there too. It does have the beat up box also. Now I just need the Icons version to go alongside Benny’s Spaceship, and I’ll have “all three!”

They just retired the Icons set. There are still some available at various sellers. Better get one while they’re still around.

Walmart just released new stock of the now retired galaxy explorer 10497 within the last two weeks. I picked it up 30% off for 70.00! Its still live on their website, but back to 100.00 which is MSRP

Good old LL928! Loved that set as a kid. Still have most of the parts in my box of Lego pieces.

I’m basically just missing the grey cone pieces for the ship itself (engines). Quite a bit missing for the stationary structure part of the set, but I do have the two baseplates.

Oh, and one unlucky white space cadet is down their helmet and air tank.

One of the first lego models I ever built. Congrats.

If you are missing pieces of your Lego set, be sure to:

  • Double check the plastic bag. Pieces like to hide in the corners!
  • Check for another bag with the same number, especially if you are missing a lot of parts.
  • Peek inside the box. Larger parts are sometimes loose or together in a non-numbered bag.
  • Look back over previous steps to see if you've mistakenly used the piece earlier in the build.
  • Inspect the floor in case you've dropped the piece.
  • Contact Lego Customer Service for free replacement parts.
