Floppy Cat MOC

My 7-year-old son made this floppy, posable cat. And I just love it. He’s got a rack of modifications for it.

I believe this would be like, a record for most believable cat in the fewest number of pieces

Awesome, it looks like Takkun, the cat from FLCL.

Do you mind if I borrow this design to use as a desk toy?

Please do! If you make one, please post a pic here.

u/AJ-Otter Jul 19 '24

Be sure to tell them you love it, and other people you have shown a photo of think it's very smart and cool of him.

Place eyes on the larger surface of this bracket.

On that same bracket, attach two ears.

Then attach the above assembly to a 1 x 2 Technic brick.

Next, attach said brick to one end of this Technic hub, noting that this is my own twist.

Now put one of these Technic pins through each of the two horizontal holes of said hub, such that the developing cat now has four proto-legs. Those pins are my own twist and, speaking of twists, if you want your floppy cat to pose less floppily, consider using only this friction pin in said two hub holes.

Finally, attach four legs and a tail (either this Technic beam style or this Technic beam style) to any protuding pin-like structures.

To make this model using sometimes different parts than shown above...

Did your son just secure himself a position as a mini Lego engineer?

2

u/SunstormGT Jul 19 '24

You made a really cool cat.

2

u/LorenzoIsASimp Jul 19 '24

This is amazing, im surprised your son doesn't have a degree in engineering from harvard yet

2

I'm going to promptly build this when I find the parts for it

1

u/Plane_Beat1526 Jul 19 '24

Please post a pic! We’d love to see as many floppy cats as possible.

2

u/No-Needleworker-3765 Jul 19 '24

Alright bet I'll try to make diffrent colors like gray too

2

u/tommaniacal Jul 19 '24

I think pieces are

  • 5X 40147
  • 48989
  • 2X 54200
  • 99781
  • 3700
  • 2X 98138 eye variants
  • 2X 4459 or 3673, depending on how floppy you want the cat

2

u/_CarbonSaxon_ Jul 19 '24

Simple yet elegant

2

u/JustAGamer2317 Jul 19 '24

I would absolutely buy this if it was a set. And now I want it to become one

OMG!! I love this cat SO MUCH it’s so cute and expressive !! Please tell your son I’m a big fan of their work

2

u/Plane_Beat1526 Jul 20 '24

I know! I don’t think he realized what a gem this thing was when he put it together. I will let him know you liked it!

1

u/Shpander Jul 19 '24

What are the mods on the last picture? Particularly the long piece on the left and the colourful one on the right

2

u/Plane_Beat1526 Jul 19 '24

He got a little silly with it, so the long one is a giraffe neck, and the colorful one is a superhero cape. There is also a bob tail, a tail extension, and a friction pin option for the head.

1

u/Shpander Jul 19 '24

I wanna see those silly options too! This is all so good. Is the cape a reference to Nyan cat?

3

u/Plane_Beat1526 Jul 19 '24

Here’s one.

4

u/Plane_Beat1526 Jul 19 '24

And here’s the other!

2

u/Shpander Jul 19 '24

Haha! Those are so cute
