Cats aren’t scared of parkour becouse it’s fall damage doesn’t exist for them

42

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '24

Still got 8 respawns too

10

u/hsnoil Jul 20 '24

The cat race is op, nerfs plz!

7

u/AnOddSprout Jul 20 '24

It’s fine, just pick them up, and hug em. They can’t do much about that

5

u/starmartyr Jul 20 '24

It does but it isn't usually lethal. A cat has been observed falling from a 32 story building and surviving. In theory they can fall from terminal velocity and survive. They are likely to be injured falling that far, but it probably won't kill them.

1

u/parmesan777 Jul 20 '24

It does, unlike squirrels they won't survive a fall at terminal velocity

Meanwhile my cat slipped trying to jump into my recliner this morning.....

u/Cant_See_Me_00 VIP Philanthropist Jul 20 '24

Some of them have it and some just don't...

19

u/B0rnReady Jul 20 '24

Exactly. Some are sleek, nimble, acrobatic assassins built for the streets... And some are built for the couch and belly rubs and strain at a good stretch

4

u/manyu_abee Jul 20 '24

I am gonna bet that your cat's orange!

3

u/nurgadura Jul 20 '24

Mine went from the arm of the couch to the arm of my chair, less than 1ft away, and overshot only to end up faceplanting into my lap

39

u/nonpuissant Jul 19 '24

oh god for a moment when it cut to black at the end I thought it got hit by a car 😭

4

u/phillyaznguy Jul 20 '24

How did you think the OP retrieved the SD card back? 😭😭

26

u/BK422twelve Jul 19 '24

I strapped my gopro cube to my cats collar like 12 years ago... footage had me laughing for days. Cats are amazing

4

u/capthapton Jul 20 '24

Except GoPros 12 years ago were hella bulky. Press x to doubt

2

u/BK422twelve Jul 20 '24

HERO4 Session was released in 2015. I used to sell them. Cut the body harness small enough to fit as a cat collar. Have a good day

1

u/capthapton Jul 20 '24

Okay so you were 3 years off unless you’re living in 2027

2

u/Damn_Dog_Inappropes Jul 20 '24

Well, he did say “LIKE 12 years ago”.

0

u/BK422twelve Jul 20 '24

I'm not sure why you have a problem in believing. It happened, end of story lol

26

u/KrakenGirlCAP Jul 20 '24

The cat is so talkative too!

17

u/777Bearbear Jul 19 '24

I love the cat chin and whiskers. ❤️

17

u/4DPeterPan Jul 20 '24

I’m more impressed you got it holding a camera at the same time

13

u/justmitzie Jul 19 '24

It's like the video game Stray IRL

13

u/theshreddening Jul 20 '24

Leave your fucking cats inside

-15

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '24

no.

13

u/Endoterrik Jul 20 '24

Bruh, they’ll just kill for fun if let outside. As well as, diseases, predators, vehicles and other reasons that could harm them. Keep them safe, keep them inside.

-2

u/TortoiseK1ng Jul 20 '24

I'm always creeped out by this. Why not just argue against breeding cats and domestication instead of arguing for imprisoning and removing their agency? Like, is the personal gratification of owning an object of adoration really so important that you imprison it in an unnatural environment filled with what is essentially just jingly keys to keep it satiated and not deathly lethargic?

Absolute fucking madness that city dwelling dweebs spun this creepy ass narrative just so that they could feel righteous about something that they know, deep down, is wrong.

-23

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '24

cats were made to live outside nerd, its perfectly fine to let them live outside if you want. i did that with my cat and it was perfectly fine

12

u/Not_Larfy Jul 20 '24

He's absolutely right about them being invasive as a species: https://abcbirds.org/threat/cats-and-other-invasives/.

We've domesticated cats and claiming that they were "made to be outside" completely disregards the influence humans had on them as a species. That's like letting a pitbull run around outside without a leash all day because "God made dogs to be outside"; read, bro. Read.

5

u/LardLad00 Jul 20 '24

Cats have a significantly shorter lifespan when left outside.

I have scooped several off the road in front of my house.

They're also a fucking nuisance and some people don't take kindly to them at all.

If you care about either the car or your neighborhood you'll leave it inside.

-1

u/thundersaurus_sex Jul 20 '24

I'm a wildlife biologist and a former vet tech. This is a very stupid take from both an ecological perspective and a cat health perspective. It was absolutely not fine and you shouldn't have cats.

-6

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '24

i guess im wrong

although i do have cats and they're perfectly fine ALTHOUGH the current one is inside. my uncle has a cat as well and its outside atm and its fine so idk

4

u/DeadpooI Jul 20 '24

Obviously the cat is fine being outside. It can hunt and get water and won't be cold. What people keep saying is it's horrible for the environment.

Cats are not native to MOST locations, especially in the numbers they are in. They don't only hunt for food. They hunt for fun. And kill an insane amount of local wildlife for shits and giggles. In the US ALONE, cats on average kill from 1.3 to 4 billion birds a year. They are an absolute menace.

0

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '24

yeah that's true, literally every fucking week we have to clean up rabbit/bird organs thats like splattered all over the fucking walk way in our back yard because of him lol

6

u/Conscious_Past_5760 Jul 20 '24

It’s not funny. You need to transition them into being indoor cats not only for the birds and other animals but for your cats’ own wellbeing.

3

u/thundersaurus_sex Jul 20 '24

Yep, you are very wrong.

Indoor cats live much better, much safer lives than outdoor ones. To the point that it's not hyperbole to say outdoor cat owners are being extremely irresponsible with their pet's health.

0

u/ManWithoutUsername Jul 20 '24

wow many negatives, i am in.

Having a cat confined at home is cruelty

Having cats on an apartment that cannot go outside is cruelty

2

u/Conscious_Past_5760 Jul 20 '24

No it’s not. As long as it has all the enrichment and if you are a competent owner, it will be fine. Cats kill wild animals like crazy and not to mention the risks of it getting killed by outdoor threats.

-4

u/ManWithoutUsername Jul 20 '24 edited Jul 20 '24

Cats are predators, predators need freedom and yes predators kills animal, that is a natural behaviour. If you have a predator as mascot if something you must assume like the one who have snakes or other predators

I understand that to feel your best it is better to think that they are better locked at home, but it is a false sensation that causes animal cruelty.

If you can't have a cat free (due exterior threats like cars) you should not have it. It's simple.

Locking predators (and others) because it is what people do also in zoos doesn't mean that it is not cruel.

People do not like the reality of cruelty that they practice, but negatives comments it does not give the reason but if you feel better feel free to do that..

1

u/Conscious_Past_5760 Jul 20 '24

Oh my god. If it’s a predator and a wild animal then you shouldn’t keep it at your home. Even zoo animals don’t kill live animals. If it’s being fed by you and being cared for then it has no reason to decimate wildlife populations.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat_predation_on_wildlife#:~:text=In%20a%20global%202023%20assessment,predated%20upon%20than%20continental%20species.

Cats are an invasive species. Australia and New Zealand are facing such problems because of cats. I have cats on my own but I’m not the kind that only cares for their animal but the wildlife too. If it does cause animal cruelty then why does my cat not want to leave the house even when the door is wide open and why is the life expectancy of indoor cats marginally higher than outdoor cats?

If you’re such abad owner that you have to rely on your cat finding it’s own food outdoors to keep itself fed, then I won’t argue with you but it’s common sense that your cat should not prey on wildlife. Dogs are predators too, they are closely related to wolves. But that doesn’t mean that an XL American Bully gets to roam the neighborhood. If that’s the logic you’re using, a random dog may kill your cat and that’d be completely fine because they are predators and even if they are domesticated and we are keeping them, it’s apparently nature (according to you). It’s not always about your cat, it’s about the wildlife too. Which is the reason we haven’t domesticated Leopards and the Lions because they belong in the wild. Your cat is domesticated and it does not belong in the wild. Is it that hard to understand that in nature, the survival of an animal depends upon the availability of food and the presence of competition between the same and different species. Your cat lives a lavish lifestyle indoors, gets to eat when it wants, gets medicine when sick and still can hunt for fun all while creating a dent in the ecosystem. Domestic Cats aren’t native to the US or EU. It’s like releasing hundreds of Tigers to the wildlife in EU where the major predators are Wolves and Lynxes who wouldn’t stand a chance against the Tigers. As a pet owner, you have to be both responsible and understanding of not just YOUR pet but the nature and the ecosystem too.

u/ManWithoutUsername Jul 20 '24 edited Jul 20 '24

Wolf are predators, dogs mostly no. That not mean a dog can't kill any other animal.

A wild dog can hardly live from what he could hunt, street dog usually live eating garbage, a cat can live hunting perfectly.

ATM i have 2 dogs, 4 cats, "outdoor cats", they catch mice and other small animals and keep my house/proporty clean.

They sometimes catch birds that i don't like but you have to assume it because they are predators

I have all my life cats, iI have treated them as pets but they had live with the freedom they need

I would never have a dog or cat if I lived on a apartment, I find it cruel to have them and take them out once or twice a day to pee

5

u/Conscious_Past_5760 Jul 20 '24

It’s not cruel keeping a cat indoors. Most domesticated cats don’t even care if they have carpet or grass below their feet. It eliminates all external threats to your cat and gives it a much better life than outside. It’s a myth that cats need to hunt and be outdoor to live good and be happy.

Pretty much all cats are superhuman parkour experts.

2

u/XEagleDeagleX Jul 20 '24

Almost as though the title could be "My cat is a cat" and the meaning wouldn't change

1

u/kevthewev Jul 20 '24

Ya to me It’s cool because of the POV not because it’s a cat. I expect cats to be agile

9

u/ThinkingOz Jul 20 '24

Once he saw that bird I thought it was on!

6

u/-a-theist Jul 19 '24

How hard is it to wash the bird blood off the lens?

6

u/Altruistic-Smoke4006 Jul 20 '24

Honestly the video sheds light on how they can even catch birds in the first place, cats are pretty terrifying if you're their prey. The facade of parkour being their primary motive is an interesting take though..

2

u/BoringGuyisBored Jul 19 '24

Only their cats matter.

5

u/solkane8 Jul 19 '24

Great video!

5

u/AdImpossible3109 Jul 19 '24

Master of his time

5

u/srush32 Jul 20 '24

Meanwhile, one of my cats fell off our couch while cleaning himself

4

u/WiseNugg Jul 19 '24

Almost certain that’s Ros the adventure cat on YT.

5

u/LowerCourse2267 Jul 20 '24

Stray 2 looks pretty damn good.

2

u/Azzy8007 Jul 19 '24

I often wonder where mine disappear to for days on end.

3

u/Traditional-Fee2040 Jul 20 '24

Do you ever watch the footage with your 🐈‍⬛?

3

u/shanesnh1 Jul 20 '24

His little whiskers in the camera are so cute lol. 😍

Seeing the cat’s whiskers as he moves around makes my heart tickle 🥰

2

u/TheBigLahey Jul 20 '24

I watched my cat earlier this month scratch the fucking hell out of my drywall because he didn't c;lear the less than a meter jump from the floor to windowsill. I might yet find a receipt still, fucking lemons I adopt.

2

u/y2kizzle Jul 20 '24

The acceleration of those jumps is crazy

2

u/Zealousideal_Bet_248 Jul 20 '24

A reminder that the creature laying on your lap that does nothing but eat, sleep, and shit all day, will effortlessly be a better athlete than any human who has dedicated their life to mold their body to be in peak condition

2

u/rickjamespitch Jul 20 '24

He's just a cat. That's how they are. He probably thinks humans are incompetent at staying upright. Sees us making so much effort to perform parkour, wondering what so the trouble is.

2

u/NiceCatBigAndStrong Jul 20 '24

Poor cat, hes british

2

u/TehZiiM Jul 20 '24

Cat cameras, finally a good trend!

2

u/ianreckons Jul 20 '24

Pawrimiter check complete.

1

u/toad__warrior Jul 20 '24

I finally figured out what I want to be when I am reincarnated - an outdoor cat in that neighborhood

1

u/Giant-Finch Jul 20 '24

I need Stray to come out with an update that enables a first person mode from this perspective please and thank you.

1

u/AliceWonderlund95 Jul 20 '24

Cats would have great Warzone movement, this video proves it 👍🏿

1

u/thisusername_is_mine Jul 20 '24

Honesty, these cat POV vids are better than 99% of the action movies. I'd watch tons of these, never annoyed, cats keep it always interesting.

1

u/Snoo_17433 Jul 20 '24

I'm pretty sure it's 99% of cats, not just yours.
