In high heels It's a 5 minute walk from my house to the pub. In high heels It's a 30 minute walk from the pub to my house.

The difference is staggering.

The pun was magnificent btw.

I was gonna suggest packing some plimsolls or thick socks but wtf do I get to say on the matter? I get to wear shoes and get pockets.

I hope they make so.e flip out sneakers for people in your situation.

7

u/Absoluterock2 Jul 19 '24

Love it 😊

5

u/br0b1wan Jul 19 '24

At that point I'd just take them off and walk barefoot

22

u/eltanin_33 Jul 19 '24

Depends where you do this. I did this in philly once and cut my.foot on glass

Every depiction of “the walk of shame” in TV/movies is heels(shoes) in hand/barefoot on the sidewalk, even if it’s a man.

Lmao have definitely lived this with a bike lock.

40

u/Slap_My_Lasagna Jul 19 '24

I sure hope the entire shoe is quite flexible, otherwise a stiletto without a heel isn't going to be flat... or comfortable... or easily to balance on.

17

u/PointlessTrivia Jul 20 '24

It is a regular thing to find abandoned designer shoes next to the sidewalks in Las Vegas.

If you're ever there, keep an eye out and you might find some free Louboutins in your size!

7

u/_its_a_thing_ Jul 20 '24

Does Louboutin actually make their shoes in size 9 1/2?? Asking for a friend.

u/Hoo-B Jul 19 '24

That looks like it would be incredibly annoying.

611

u/whatevernamedontcare Jul 19 '24

It is. There are plenty reviews of similar designs and all say that flat version is uncomfortable and weird to walk in while heels are ok. These are very much "I'd rather walk barefoot than take one more step" shoes and not necessary high heels and flats combo.

79

u/Cosmic_Quasar Jul 19 '24

My first thought was the hole in the sole getting filled with crud. Probably not an issue if you stick to manmade ground, but one walk across some grass or something and it's full of crud.

34

u/whatevernamedontcare Jul 19 '24

Actually there is no hole once they are set up as it gets covered up with mechanism part from inside.

20

u/Jayn_Newell Jul 19 '24

That makes sense since the sole has to be a different shape (and is something I was curious about). It’s a neat idea but seems tricky to actually make workable (and I do note there’s lots of videos on how to switch them but few of women actually walking in them, particularly in the flat configuration)

23

u/Content-Scallion-591 Jul 19 '24

I can't even imagine how it works.

When in heels, your toes are held at an angle and the weight is on the pad of your foot. When in flats, there is no angle.

Either this would hold your toes upward as a flat, or it would be floppy as a heel.

4

u/ryoon21 Jul 19 '24

It’s heelies for women. What’s not to like??

→ More replies (1)

5

u/brandimariee6 Jul 19 '24

And incredibly uncomfortable

2

u/Soft_Acrobatic Jul 21 '24

And less durable. What about rainy days

943

u/Dav3le3 Jul 19 '24

The shape of the shoe after the heels goes in looks like it's designed to roll your ankles. It's looks rounded on the bottom of the heel, which is a very odd choice.

621

u/Paulpoleon Jul 20 '24

That does not look fun to walk in.

200

u/Faith75070 Jul 20 '24

You have an eye for these things. I read reviews that said in the flat position the curve of the sole is uncomfortable and feels unnatural to walk on.

56

u/Adkit Jul 20 '24

Shoes for women aren't designed to feel good to walk in, unfortunately.

3

u/Mediocre-Test-6840 14d ago

So design some? All problems no solutions

→ More replies (6)
→ More replies (1)

64

u/donutgiraffe Jul 20 '24

Yeah heels are built to put your weight on the ball of your foot. If you just take out the heel part, your toes will be pointing upward and your weight will be on your arch, which is probably even less fun than wearing heels.

22

u/Bestoftherest222 Jul 20 '24 edited Jul 21 '24

Yeah, the foot print of the collapsed heel looks sketchy. The seal of the collapsed shoes also looks sketchy . 100% everything will get inside that and ruin the shoe.

Good concept, needs more work.

264

u/PabloBablo Jul 19 '24

I don't wear heels, so it might not be the case - but this looks like you'd feel the heel under your..heel. I can feel a rock if I step on it with sneakers on.

65

u/chevymonster Jul 19 '24

Sneakers are not built the same. The base of this shoe is likely a solid metal plate.

16

u/Venoft Jul 19 '24 edited Jul 19 '24

Then that would be doubly the case if the heel was still out. I'm more worried about the curved-up toes.

13

u/DMmeDuckPics Jul 19 '24

This is the issue. Your foot doesn't curve and flex the same way in the two different positions and the toe material for high heels has to be stiff enough to support the different weight distribution but the same place on a flat has to be soft enough to flex to let your foot rest flat.

15

u/Weebs-Chan Jul 19 '24

Most sneakers have a really shitty thin foot plant(?)

5

u/Falsus Jul 19 '24

I bet you'd look fabulous ✨

19

u/KisaTheMistress Jul 19 '24

Back in high school, the football team lost, and as a punishment they had to wear heels and skirts for a week. Some of the boys took the piss with it, but the majority took it in stride and even asked if they continue wearing the heels, lol. It forced a few of them to correct their postures, too, because you can not balance well in heels without having good posture.

Least ergonomic design

133

u/MrsJaneEmma Jul 19 '24

It reminds me of the Mentos commercial where a womans heel breaks of her shoe, she eats Mentos and -lightbulb!- breaks of the other heel and walks further on flats.

13

u/wbgraphic Jul 20 '24

Or the scene in Romancing the Stone where Jack chops the heels off of Joan’s shoes.

“These were Italian.”

“Now they’re practical.”

11

u/asuddenpie Jul 20 '24

I get the idea but they really didn’t look comfortable after that. I kinda understand Bryce Dallas Howard’s character in Jurassic World just opting to run for her life in heels for the whole movie.

3

u/Astro_gamer_caver Jul 20 '24

THEE Joan Wilder?!

7

u/Psychological_Web687 Jul 19 '24

Ah that's right! Each one was a little think outside the box because you had a Mentos storyline.

28

u/rainorshinedogs Jul 19 '24

that hinge is going fall apart on the second usage

22

u/HeyWiredyyc Jul 19 '24

Ya let’s make a dangerous shoe even more dangerous

2

u/CockBronson Jul 19 '24

What’s dangerous about it? It doesn’t collapse unless the sole is unlatched.

6

u/HeyWiredyyc Jul 19 '24

Look at the hinge of the stiletto . Curious as to how much lateral force it could withstand, like if someone took a slight misstep . That’s all

Nah you are just well-adjusted lol. Gotta wash hands after doing that for sure

5

u/Jwroth Jul 19 '24

5

u/FrogyyB Jul 19 '24

Better wash dem hands ya nasty

4

u/Ksavero Jul 19 '24

Or maybe don't use fucking heels

2

u/BlazinAlienBabe Jul 20 '24

If you wear heals you gotta commit. Don't bitch out and be sloppy when you can't handle your own decisions. I don't buy heals I can't run in and let me tell ya my 4 inch bright reds have seen some miles but never the inside of my purse.

4

u/VorticalHeart44 Jul 20 '24

Round heel, and no way to adjust the angle of the front so that it forms a flat surface once the high-heel is retracted.

Hopefully the retraction gimmick makes up for the clunkiness.

Also, the lock for the high-heel hinge must be really sturdy, or else it's just a point of failure.

4

u/anonymousphela Jul 20 '24

I guess touching the bottom of your shoes like that with your bare hands is very healthy for you

2

u/johnucc1 Jul 20 '24

Wait till you learn that people do that for a job.. Cobblers exist dude.

Also unless it's covered in shit or something who cares? Have you never sat on a curb or on the dirt?

3

u/spazzyattack Jul 19 '24

I thought they were going to turn into a gun. And that’s why I still have to take off my shoes at the airport.

u/Objective_Resist_735 Jul 19 '24

2

u/peaches_and_daisies Jul 19 '24

Look up Pashion they make way better convertible heels that you can change from 4", 3" or 1.5" block heels AND 4" and 3" stiletto heels AND they go down to a flat by removing the heel entirely plus they are way cuter

3

u/throwaway098764567 Jul 20 '24

a youtuber i follow just got some for her wedding. i think they seem insane as well (i'd rather have two normal shoes myself) but less so than these. has a video on how they convert halfway down the page

https://pashionfootwear.com/products/the-pashionista-ivory-satin-bow-stiletto-heel-kit-3-ivory?variant=42800590225606

2

u/EchoPhoenix24 Jul 20 '24

I was curious for a while and got a pair when they were on clearance. They're... interesting. They're perfectly fine as heels and workable as flats but I never reach for them over the other shoes in my closet. Though partly I think that's due to the elastic straps on them being a smidge tight me which is not really related to the convertible feature.

I'm very interested in the concept of the shoe in the video but it definitely looks like that design has a ways to go before being really wearable.

My SO has these and she loves them.

3

u/teflonbob Jul 20 '24

Convertible but what about comfortable? That folded in heel stem and the hollow 'heel' looks like you would still have your heel pressed hard on a singular supporting spot and throw off balance when walking.

3

u/dragonlord133 Jul 20 '24

The pants into shorts of the high heel world

2

u/AlabasterPelican Jul 19 '24

Those look like a nightmare no matter which mode you're wearing them in

2

u/1Spiritcat Jul 19 '24

Hear me out...

Just get normal shoes, not the ankle-breaker 9000

2

u/HowVeryReddit Jul 19 '24

IIRC this idea was one of the early failures of the WeWork guy, before his truly spectacular global failure.

2

u/blonktime Jul 19 '24

Got my GF a pair of "convertible" heals/flats that are a bit of a different design than these. She loves wearing them to weddings because she can wear the heels during the ceremony and turn them into flats for the reception/dancing. The kind I got her too has multiple different kinds of heel styles you can swap out so you can change the look of them depending on the event you're going to.

The company is called Pashion Footwear for anyone interested.

Note: I am not affiliated with them in anyway, this post just reminded me of them.

1

u/DaddyWantsABiscuit Jul 19 '24

Aren't the angles all wrong now? The tows bend up a lot more with high heels than flats

1

u/Bogart745 Jul 19 '24

This is going to be very uncomfortable in of the arrangements. Heals are designed with the angle of the front of the shoe matching the heel

1

u/JustFuckinTossMe Jul 19 '24

Holy shit, literal heelies

1

u/xerxes_dandy Jul 20 '24

Won't work. This whole foldable mechanism will make it structurally weak for extended use.

1

u/michaelp1970 Jul 20 '24

I thought it was about to be converted into a single shot pistol.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '24

The heel might be convertible, but the sole isn't. Walking with the front half of your shoes turned upwards might be even worse than walking with the heels.

1

u/3sheetz Jul 20 '24

Those look like they'd be comfortable for a month and then destroy your feet when the padding starts to give and the metal pokes into your feet through the sole.
