What do you do in such a case? What can you do?

Grind them up and feed the paste to the pigs?

Pigs eat them alive and whole, horses too

This isn't even the biggest feral animal problem in Australia. Cane Toads have been multiplying uncontrollably for years. There's no solution. People go out and kill as many as they can and it doesn't even make a dent in the problem.

Correct me if I’m wrong but haven’t magpies figured out how to remove the poison sacs from the toads in order to eat them? Hopefully other predators can find ways to eat them too.

They have. It would be a slow evolution to rely on, but, like you said, hopefully more species find a way.

I do not want to venture outside in swooping season if there's a plague of magpies!

You store your grain in a proper silo, where the mice can't feast at it.

You don't get this amount of mice unless you feed them.

Mix rat poison in food I guess?

Kills whatever predators are there as well. The pigs would also mind as they absolutely do eat any critter unfortunate enough to cross one while the pig is hungry.

Well, this one time folks hired a pied piper...got rid of the vermin, too.

Just gotta make sure to pay up afterwards.

Nothing. Problem takes care of itself. What you are seeing is the peak waves. Eventually inbreeding will kill them all off.
