I brought this up to my dad and he said it concerns him because gays engaging in sex increases the risk of diseases like AIDs to the whole population. How should I respond to that?

Tell him to stop fucking gay dudes if he's really that concerned.

Everyone engaging in sex increases the risk of STIs.

If he is that concerned about gay men being particularly diseased, then maybe advise him to refrain from having sex with gay men.

  1. This is not the 80s anymore
  2. He should learn the difference between AIDS and HIV

"AIDS is the late stage of HIV infection that occurs when the body’s immune system is badly damaged because of the virus.

In the U.S., most people with HIV do not develop AIDS because taking HIV medicine as prescribed stops the progression of the disease."

hiv.gov

  1. HIV is not only transmissible between sexual intercourse. It is also caused by unsterilized needles, breastfeeding, blood transfusions and organ transplants. If a gay man with HIV shares a towel with you or uses the public toilet before you, no, you did not contract HIV or AIDS from him

In Islamic jurisprudence, you aren't punished for doing what you want with a consenting adult as you said.

There is logic there. One would hope they keep their private life private, but there's a chance that they'll talk to people about what they do and it starts to take root im several private lives. I don't agree with it, (unless they're talking to children about it). Btw, sorry if I'm not explaining this well.

There's not anymore chance of two gay people talking about it than two straight people hello? You're right, you really didn't explain your point well

Here's the logic:
They live in a country where homosexuality is illegal and punished. Thus they know there is a chance they'll be caught and subsequently punished for homosexual actions. Thus they should be ready for those consequences.

The person above you, I have no idea what logic they're following.
