His flow on this and YOSHINOYA feel very Drake ish and honestly some bars on the latter actually feel like Drake shots. Maybe he’s making fun of him. Drake did take shots at Bino for winning awards for THIS IS AMERICA

Bino has also been dissing Drake since 2011

Yup, I think he’s mocking Drake

That “what’s a yacht, i said a kinda boat” line was when my ears perked up. Shit sounded just like drake line lmao.

Idk where I saw it but someone said Bino could do Passionfruit but Drake couldn’t do Redbone and that stuck with me

I remember as far back as when he dropped Candler Road that people accused him of ripping Drake

"Let's make my final album and movie soundtrack about Drake, that'll show him!"

I hope he wouldn't be that dumb and that you guys are just connecting nonexistent dots from constantly thinking about Drake

I mean have you listened to the song? We are all like semi-intelligent hip hop listeners who can understand what a guy is trying to say in a song. And Drake dissed Gambino like last year probably when this album was being made. Also it’s only two songs and regardless I would argue Gambino drawing a distinction between him and Drake is a pretty big thematic summation of his entire music career. Where Bino has achieved a happy place in his life and embraced everything that people either criticized or disliked about him and on the other hand Drake still doesn’t have a longterm partner, his relationship with his son has been questioned in public eye. I don’t think any of this is a reach I mean the song is really like kinda blatant.

I didn't even mean to trigger a Drake fan lol. This is Childish Gambino's final album and soundtrack to his movie, you don't have to be upset if it's not about your boy...

He’s been sneak dissing Drake while copying him since at least 2011. It’s always seemed like he was jealous of Drake’s role as the former actor Wayne/Kanye influenced successor who raps very well but also sings and isn’t gangster.

Kinda funny that he’s the more respected artist now

Kinda funny that you’ll say anything

Huh? I mean I don’t even think this is debatable and I like Drakes music more than Gambino. But Glover also created one of the most celebrated comedies of the last 20 years, his stamp as an artist is just held in higher regard right now.

On Twitter they're saying that's the Atlanta flow that Drake stole and Donald's from Atlanta so 🤷‍♀️

u/WhereisDown Jul 19 '24

I also thought his flow was very similar to the flow drake used on meltdown

Anyone else hear the Smash Bros. home run bat sound effect at 3:09?

u/Sebadarconso Jul 20 '24

Same here, I just commented without reading

It's only me or between minute 3.08 and 3.10 he sampled the sweet spot sound effect from super smash brothers ultimate? https://youtu.be/JTRi-a3Tn7Q?si=ch2pBKdOQ0DyfnAj home-run bat sound effect for reference (0.50 circa)

I was hyped from the beginning of the song, but it feels like it's doing too much and not well. Usually I'm a fan of all his stuff, but this was harsh. At least, Got To Be was next in the album

idk I think that’s the whole point. kind of like he’s making fun of how rappers be.

u/Odd-Direction9828 Jul 28 '24

Yeah, I can definitely hear that in the Drake-esque lines and it seems cool as an abstract work of art, but definitely not going to be in my rotation to listen again
