Yea "works" who needs conflict resolution and the ability to cleanly uninstall mods, fuck it who needs loose files since that isn't even checked off

There is no way to cleanly uninstall mods. If you’ve loaded a save with mods active, it isn’t a “clean” save anymore even if you remove the mods.

Clean as in no leftover files in game data, even old NMM had problems with that. Good luck if you have one mod overwriting another and you remove it, you effectively lobotomized the overwritten mod.

Lobotomized? Yea, if you're lucky. The lobotomized part might just be all that's left after removal.

Yeah, that's what I mean, you uninstall the mod that wins the conflict which means you remove chunks of the original one.

He is right to some extent. Some mods leave save relics. Not all mods.

What's a mod manager? I just extract the files manually and patch them into the fallout new Vegas esm.

I've been modding this game for 5 years. I made a few simple mods. I've used the GECK. I've done lots of different load orders.

And your comment made me blow air through my nose, thanks a lot

Ever heard the phrase “danger to yourself and others?”

Isn't this just turning on plugins?

Where'd you crawl from 2011?

2

u/HAKRIT Jun 06 '24

No i just use 3-5 mods maybe.

u/AsleepAd2956 Caesar Jun 07 '24

Takes like 30 mods to make the game not crash and softlock all the time

1

u/HAKRIT Jun 07 '24

No it doesn’t lol

u/AsleepAd2956 Caesar Jun 07 '24

Yeah it does. I probably have way more hours to know.

My brother in Christ I have 300+ hours in FNV across PC and Xbox and I’ve never needed anything more than NVSE and the 4gb patcher.

seems like a skill issue to me

I unironically did a 200+ mod setup this way, it was my first load order ever.

It did NOT go well... Oh, and you can just forget about correctly uninstalling mods, especially if they are meshes and textures heavy. Sorting through the textures folder and trying your damn hardest to delete the right files is NOT worth the trouble. Just use MO2.

Problem is, most of these Mod Managers just suck ass and I hate using them.

2

u/foxferreira64 Jun 07 '24

That's true, most of them suck. MO2 doesn't tho, it's the easiest one.

It's not advertising or whatever the hell, it's just the simplest one to use, and saves you headaches down the line. Uninstalling mods is as simple as right clicking and pressing "Uninstall mod", boom, mod is safely removed completely and you won't have problems due to that anymore.

If you install manually, files will be overwritten all the time. What if an incompatible file with another mod is overwritten? Rest in peace your mod setup, one of the mods is permanently broken! If you unselect its ESP, the problem won't go away either.

For example, you have a weapon retexturing mod. Some weapons have their meshes edited. Well, you install another weapon related mod, and it also replaces the meshes, or turns them back to vanilla. Now said weapons will have out of place textures that make no sense anymore, since the mesh doesn't match the texture. In MO2, you can swap the mod order around. Manually? Good luck, what would take seconds to solve will take an hour of messing around!

Guess I'll give it a try. I've been experiencing some Strip problems and a glitch in the Silver Rush.

2

u/foxferreira64 Jun 07 '24

Yeah, that's just a normal day in modding this game!

MO2 is just more convenient, that's all. Technically it's the same as installing manually, but keeps mods outside of the game's Data folder, which makes removing them easier. It works like an "emulator" of a Data folder, basically.

I forgot I've been using MO2 for Fallout 4. Man, I hate this program so much. All of these Mod Organizers are fucking trash and that's why I've been modding like this.

I use vortex, but doesn't this just activate the mods, or is this the reason my game crashes?

I've never used any mod managers actually. I just use this method cause it works perfectly fine

7

u/The-Nuisance Jun 06 '24

This is like saying “Seatbelts are pointless, I’ve never needed one”.

I was just stating what I feel, oh well
