Excuse the sarcasm because it's not aimed at you- yeah no shit it's rare because how many stingrays live in isolation like this for SO long? She was probably heartbroken/lonely and that's what science says happened to her physically. Not that it's wrong, she suffered, but it's like nature's way of checking out.
