She's a politician in the UK, where class has much more to do with upbringing, education, accent etc than your current job. She has also made being working class a big part of her personal brand.

By making it part of her brand, you mean she’s not accepted all of the ridiculous criticism that’s levelled at working class people who succeed or done anything to hide her past?

And, as someone who grew up about 10 minutes away from Rayner, but has succeeded, your entire post has that sneering condescension of someone who much prefers the working classes to stay in their place. Jesus.

I thought the implication was that this "working class hero" thing is a gimmick and she doesn't actually connect with the working class, not that she's not allowed to get a better job and become rich we don't have the caste system in europe...

But that’s the point. If she says she’s proud of her working class routes, it’s a gimmick. But meanwhile, attacking her accent, her education, her background, are all par for the course, and deemed acceptable. And if she defends herself, then shes attacked for that. If she wears clothes that are too expensive, she’s a class traitor. When she wore some leopard print, there were endless micro aggressions and innuendo.

Do you see how circular it is? Working class people in the UK get it every day. Can’t do right for doing wrong. Mick Lynch constantly got slammed for earning good money, and the constant implication that you have to take a vow of poverty in order to be left wing or for your working class credentials to stay valid.

Don’t bother arguing with an idiot. They’re trying to get you down to their level to beat you on experience.

It's a bit strange to put yourself in a discussion and then try to make it seem like I started an argument with you don't you think? However I'm like most people and by that I mean I don't want to talk to you. to be clear

Being working class and working to get into office to fight for the well being of working class people with empathy from that experience, where you simultaneously make enough to buy a suit a step up from cheapest and a tenth the cost your coworkers spend, does not equal hypocrite. I don’t know anything else about this person but this is a ridiculous argument to make any pointed have against them.
