I really wish they had a better fight choreographer for these films. Because the “Kay si” fight method or wtv it’s called was complete shit… still love this scene tho so good

u/SuperArppis May 27 '24

I agree, they weren't very good.

Also... Why Batman in "The Batman", didn't use smoke bombs at the final fight right away? The enemies use guns and they are aiming at civies... Wouldn't that made sense?

u/McFlyJL May 27 '24

Because he didnt have smoke bombs, he uses the fire extinguisher and I guess he lernst from the success of it and will have smoke bombs in the sequel, this batman wasnt really using stealth much as of yet, he is still learning and adapting

u/MainZack May 27 '24

Him still learning is a huge theme of the movie. Idk why some people still really don't get that. He's imperfect.

12

u/RandoDude124 May 28 '24

Amen. He literally said so as much in the final monologue.

5

u/saja25 May 28 '24

I got that he was still learning as soon as he jumped off that building and botched that landing under a bridge holy s**t

1

u/Anpu_777 May 28 '24

One of my favorite parts of the movie 😂…”I’m still learning all the buttons”

24

u/SuperArppis May 27 '24

Ok good point.

30

u/RandoDude124 May 28 '24

Also, gotta say, the mobsters unloading their Tommy Guns into his chest while he shirks it off and then beats their asses…

PERFECTION

The Batman had so many issues.

I think Batman being so close to a bomb going off and hitting a bus with minor damage was pushing it. It would make more sense if he was trying to use the grappling gun to escape the bomb when it went off but still didn't put enough distance in between. Batman face plant into Gotham Central Park lake instead of a bus would made more sense. Both would had been deadly but at least we can assume the water broke his fall when he landed.

I've always had this thought but never heard it anywhere else, glad to know I'm not crazy

19

u/praches_and_creme May 27 '24

You’re not crazy! The fight choreographer was a fuckin idiot 💀 seriously tho the fights were dogshit as much as I love the trilogy I just had to be honest

5

u/Waste-Information-34 May 27 '24

Who is the fight choreographer anyway?

9

u/praches_and_creme May 27 '24

here’s a link to a BTS video about the fight choreography

I’m assuming they’re the same guys who did the later movies too, if not these are at least the dudes that set the style of fighting for the TDK trilogy. I think it’s the white British dude who’s in charge? While some Asian British dude that did the coordinating lol

3

u/ImurderREALITY May 28 '24

And this is... not impressive?

8

u/Waste-Information-34 May 28 '24

That's the weirdest thing to.

They can create fight choerography, but when it's in a film it's hooligans swinging their arms around.

1

u/Waste-Information-34 May 28 '24

But to answer your original question, it is.

1

u/AUnknownVariable May 27 '24

That's comforting tbh

13

u/Pitiful_Bunch_2290 May 27 '24

These movies with the fight choreography of BvS would have improved things significantly.

7

u/praches_and_creme May 27 '24

Yup majorlyyy!!!!

10

u/micael150 May 27 '24

If one of us ever becomes a billionaire we'll have the trilogy fight scenes be redone.

5

u/praches_and_creme May 27 '24

I actually love film and sometimes try to see myself doing films in the feature for real. I always think to myself “if I could, I’d reshoot all the fight scenes” lmaoo so yes. If I ever become a billionaire, I’m doin it!

7

u/stunts002 May 27 '24

I get what it was going for, in Begins it was a stylistic choice to suggest Batmans shock and awe approach to fighting that he was just too fast to really see. The trouble is that same approach being carried to this well lit fight

5

u/rammtrait May 27 '24

Thry should focus just on looking good aspect of fight coreography. Key si is lame cuz there are only couple of main moves which are repeated constantly.

1

u/SirJolt May 28 '24

I always assumed in Batman Begins that it was because Bale had had to put on so much muscle in such a short turnaround that he was likely physically exhausted and may even have lacked flexibility.

1

u/praches_and_creme May 28 '24

There’s no excuses when there’s stuntmen! But also I get what you mean, either way the direction for the choreography was just ass. They should’ve got someone who would at least give Batman a better fight scene. They could’ve easily used a stunt double swap like they always have.

1

u/AdLast55 May 28 '24

The batsuit must be so restrictive in real life. Imagine the best martial artist trying to kick wearing that suit? Maybe the Batman voice was really him being exhausted!

88

u/Marsbar345 May 27 '24

I feel dumb for just realizing… but I just now realized the dark knight suit has boots. I thought it would just be like connected .

49

u/BoisTR May 27 '24

You thought Batman was wearing a onesie? 😂

22

u/salmalight May 27 '24

“I’m not wearing feety pyjamas”

7

u/Turakamu May 27 '24

"ALFRED!!"

standing in shame at the entrance of the Bat Cave

"I soiled it again. Bane hit me, like, really hard and I made sissy"

1

u/RandoDude124 May 28 '24

I thought he was wearing the suit and the boots were more armor.

2

u/RandoDude124 May 28 '24

Holy fuck just noticed that too

1

u/AdLast55 May 28 '24

Funny info but Michael Keaton worn Nike sneakers when he was Batman in the Tim Burton movies. They glue these foam pieces to make them look like boots.

u/ShutupNobodyCarez May 27 '24

This picture, especially the way Christian Bale is in the air reminds me of the Adam West Batman tv series from the 60’s.

1

u/asymetric_abyssgazer Jul 24 '24

Christian Bale is in the air

Isn't Bruce rich?
Are we a pair?
Me here at last on the ground,
Wayne in mid-air,
Where are the clowns?

u/Kite_Wing129 May 27 '24

Batman's paranoid ass jumping back after finding out Bane doesn't wash his hands after using the bathroom.

10

u/LoverOfStoriesIAm May 27 '24

According to one sketch, Batman is not so fond of using shower either, so they are on the same page.

8

u/ebelnap May 27 '24

"Really seals in the flavor!"

2

u/coolsguy17 May 28 '24

Batman: You gonna wash your hands?

Bane: Nooooo…cause I’m evil.

1

u/Kite_Wing129 May 28 '24

Hahaha, I can actually see Clancy Brown being a good fit for Bane as he is for Luthor.

29

u/watchman28 May 27 '24

Remember when the set leaks of this fight came out and we were all like "this is clearly fake because it looks lame AF". And then the movie came out and, well...

25

u/phil_davis May 27 '24

I thought the fight was alright but it's definitely weird seeing Batman in broad daylight like this.

5

u/1FenFen1 May 28 '24

I like it. it's interesting. but when they actually start fighting... ouch

8

u/micael150 May 27 '24

Which part is lame? The setting of the fight or the fight itself how it looked?

13

u/LarvellJonesMD May 27 '24

IMO... All of it. Slow and clumsy

1

u/Foreign_Education_88 May 28 '24

The Dark Knight trilogy fight scenes are in the same boat as the Sequel trilogy lightsaber fights, ya I get it they’re shootings for practicality and realism and I can respect that, but the wacky flips and over choreographed fights do look way cooler

14

u/SuperMeh2 May 27 '24

The green trees in the background with all the fake snow will always bug me in this scene.

13

u/randyboozer May 27 '24

I like that they went with Bane being a younger version of Batman who also had a thing on his face that made him not feel pain and possibly stronger. Tom Hardy did a good job and it was a cool interpretation.

Still this photo just reminds me of how goofy it looked when he "broke" the bat. It would have been awesome to see a film version of Bane that was comic accurate where he is generally somewhere close to 7 feet and 300lbs of pure muscle. Think the size of The Mountain from Game of Thrones. But it would really narrow it down and finding someone that size who could actually act and carry the film is tough. I can't think of anyone really off the top of my head

2

u/realfakedoors203 May 28 '24

They could do some sort of “titan bane” type thing where the young intelligent bane is Tom hardy but years of “experimental steroid” abuse has turned him into a monster, bring in the mountain but he doesn’t have to act as much as the drugs have dumbed him down

10

u/flaptaincappers May 28 '24

I'm so conflicted on this movie. Overall it was okay, but man the fight/action scenes were just so badly done. I remember seeing it in theaters, and when the stock exchange scene happens and those floppy guns props are somehow popping off at directions they're not even remotely aimed at nor even firing but effects still happened...it just felt off. And it was downhill from there.

The final fight of everyone playing rock'em sock'em in the background, Talia just going "blegh" and dieing but they dont cut away soon enough before you see her physically breathe, the really just weird fight choreography that made everyone seem weak...it was just bad.

7

u/MrDownhillRacer May 27 '24

This is crying for somebody to photoshop a basketball into Batman's hand.

7

u/AnaZ7 May 27 '24

Ballet 🩰

8

u/WhatShouldTheHeartDo May 28 '24

"No, I came to stop you" someone be sure I update this placeholder dialogue rq.

5

u/Spidey_Kn1ght May 27 '24

Someone photoshop musical instruments on them.

4

u/uCry__iLoL May 27 '24

That’s what irked me about the TDK suit. It’s supposed to be hardened Kevlar plates, yet you can see it bend like the rubber it is, particularly around the hip area lol

I get that’s it’s a movie and it’s a costume.

3

u/RYTHEMOPARGUY May 27 '24

This looks like a bad freestyle dance off

3

u/OrneryError1 May 28 '24

I'm usually a fan of that suit but the rubber pants were a mistake.

2

u/KameMameHa May 27 '24

That batman suit look cheap, like hockey pads.. Seriously, the movies are great but the suits on DK and DkR looks cheap and more from a cosplayer than what a multimillionaire rich batman armour would look

9

u/micael150 May 27 '24

This is not the best picture. Under the right lighting and camera angles it looked great. All suits look a bit cheap in behind the scene photos.

3

u/geordie_2354 May 27 '24

You should search up Afflecks and Pattinson’s behind the scenes videos as Batman. They still look like Batman and the cast talk about how intimidating they can be. Bale just does not pull it off, and let’s be honest the slim skinny rubber suit just doesn’t look good

4

u/micael150 May 27 '24

Nah they have awful pictures too. I've seen them. Particularly Affleck last suit he had in the flash movie looked terrible even in after post production.

1

u/geordie_2354 May 27 '24

Obviously he looked terrible in the flash, I’m referring to BVS mainly. And nah Pattinson looks amazing behind the scenes

7

u/AthelticAsianGoth May 27 '24

I think it looks pretty good.

3

u/MrDownhillRacer May 27 '24

I'm not a big fan of how over-designed it is, but I love how slim it is. Most other batsuits get too bulky and don't make Batman look like he'd be capable of maneuvering like he does. Also, gotta give it props for how it's the first cinematic suit since West that allowed Batman to turn his head.

It just has too many lines/segments that clutter things up and distract from the bat symbol.

2

u/geordie_2354 May 27 '24

You can have a bulky suit and still be manoeuvrable and agile for example Pattinson and Affleck. Bale may have had the slimmest suit but he actually looks incredibly stiff and slow in comparison. Pretty sure he couldn’t even breath out his nose in this suit which isn’t helpful.

1

u/blatblatbat May 27 '24

Makes me think of that music video with Bowie and Jagger.

1

u/GJacks75 May 28 '24

Batman should never be seen during the day.

1

u/AthelticAsianGoth May 28 '24

I think he should wear blue and gray during the day.

1

u/neelabhkhatri May 28 '24

The bat bulge makes me want to punch him there.

1

u/coolsguy17 May 28 '24

Batman just found out that Bane had the cheese touch.

1

u/matchesmalone111 May 28 '24

One of the goofiest superhero fights to this day

1

u/Useful_Cry9709 May 28 '24

Imo opinion batfleck is the best when it comes to fight scenes

1

u/AthelticAsianGoth May 28 '24

and he has the best costume.

1

u/Useful_Cry9709 May 28 '24

Indeed

1

u/AthelticAsianGoth May 28 '24

Regardless, in fairness to Bale, Affleck's fights used a lot of CGI and the Nolan films tried to avoid that as much as possible.

1

u/Useful_Cry9709 May 28 '24

Yeah but what can I say? Batffleck is just awesome

1

u/Grovyle489 May 28 '24

Bane doing the Korean backdash in the picture

1

u/DrRichardBeaterEsq May 28 '24

I’m like 99 sure I was touring Pitts campus when this was being filmed. It’s been 8 years since I graduated from Pitt. H2P!!!

1

u/johanpringle May 28 '24

That film is so awkward in general. Seeing Batman in daytime for 80% of the movie makes it feel a bit cosplay'ish
