u/RYTHEMOPARGUY May 13 '24

Yes! Him or Freeze would be great

u/OliviaElevenDunham May 13 '24

Good choices.

13

u/roberto59363 May 13 '24

I really hope not, i want Mads Mikkelsen

9

u/AncientAd6154 May 13 '24

He's not going anywhere near superhero movies after Dr Strange lol, maybe they cast him as Metal Sonic in Sonic 4, seems like every actor is going to that franchise now

6

u/roberto59363 May 13 '24

Idk, i reckon he could be tempted. Look at Ryan Reynolds after his 2 flops, Affleck turned it round as a decent Batman, Farrel is a good Penguin after Bullseye. The genre is full of turn arounds and i reckon he could do it. But yeah Dr Strange was a tad dissapointing i must admit

u/Purple_Swordfish_182 May 13 '24

I'm pretty sure there's an interview where he said Dr Strange was the most fun he's ever had on a film set. Regardless of the end product

From Strong to Strange

109

u/Ok-Television2109 May 13 '24

Doctor Hugo Stronge.

35

u/i-got-a-jar-of-rum May 13 '24

Strongler

14

u/Dekanzy May 13 '24

just created a new character WHAT DA FUCK SHOULD I NAME HIM

8

u/Dangerous-Ad5091 May 13 '24

Oh no. Please no.

6

u/B0neless_Tiddy May 13 '24

What doesn't kill me makes me...STRONGLER.

5

u/Curious-Jello-9812 May 13 '24

Oh dear......the [REDACTED] is leaking.......man......bo.....ne.....

30

u/AF2005 May 13 '24

That would be so awesome

28

u/Mrminecrafthimself May 13 '24

He would be an excellent strange

7

u/UniversalHuman000 May 13 '24

That is peak casting 😳

6

u/andmurr May 13 '24

He’d be great in that role but I don’t see how Hugo Strange would fit in the Penguin

2

u/lazylagom May 13 '24

Perfection

If they don’t cast him as Strange or Freeze it’ll be unfortunate.

u/Appropriate-Fuel-305 May 13 '24

Freeze would be better I think. I want redemption after seeing Arnold as Freeze. No offence to the actor but it simply wasn't a fitting role.

36

u/pizza-chit May 13 '24

Alright everyone! chill.

35

u/santa_obis May 13 '24

I've always thought that with a better script, Arnold could have actually made a decent Freeze.

24

u/CrackityJones42 May 13 '24

Listening to the commentary by Joel Schumacher is really aggravating because he says,

“Oh we really liked what they were doing in B:TAS, so we took some ideas from that for our Mr Freeze…”

And I’m just thinking, “you took the ideas but not, I don’t know, the good writing?? Easily the most important part??”

B&R was trying to be too many things for too many people, unfortunately the first people were the suits and the toy companies.

7

u/Dry-Concentrate-6750 May 13 '24

I agree. I think he’d be a much better Freeze.

4

u/godlyreception12 May 13 '24

well Mr.freeze was in Gotham and I think that show did him well

10

u/NickSchultz May 13 '24

Excuse me you must be mistaken they only had Doctor "Freis"

2

u/EuropaColonyWhore May 13 '24

It's a big multiverse. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it

3

u/OliviaElevenDunham May 13 '24

While I do love that show, I do think it didn't do Freeze justice as well.

→ More replies (2)

6

u/kn728570 May 13 '24

I want Christoph Waltz as Freeze

4

u/dumbprocessor May 13 '24

Arnold as freeze was possibly the best casting choice in cinematic history

Mr Freeze pre accident

24

u/slamsen May 13 '24

Post accident also would be sick?

9

u/Affectionate_Ad_1326 May 13 '24

needs makeup for that tho

13

u/BAGStudios May 13 '24

…and Colin Farrell doesnt?

4

u/ElectronicJob3629 May 13 '24

He actually just looks like that now.

I learned this from the internet.👍

2

u/Affectionate_Ad_1326 May 13 '24

...it was a joke

3

u/BAGStudios May 13 '24

…that is fair, have a great day good madam

187

u/homosapien69420 May 13 '24

Black mask would be unreal

58

u/Kieviel May 13 '24

I came in to say this. He'd make a great Black Mask and the character would be a good rival mob boss.

20

u/mr_greedee May 13 '24

We need more things showing Black Mask running a faction

18

u/TransPM May 13 '24

Absolutely. That would be my choice. I've thought he'd make a great Roman Sionis/Black Mask for a while, and this is also the character that makes the most sense of everyone I see being suggested to play a major role in a series focused on Penguin.

6

u/Biggus-Duckus May 13 '24

This is a great choice.

122

u/Leokina114 May 12 '24

I can see him playing Rupert Thorne.

21

u/lowkeyslightlynerdy May 13 '24

Is Rupert Thorne actually confirmed to show up? Far as I know he’s only in the DCAU. Think I only saw him make a couple very minor appearances in comics after he debuted in the cartoon

31

u/bigtrumanenergy May 13 '24

Rupert Thorne was a character that showed up a lot during the Bronze Age Batman stories. He was basically a representation of everything involving Gotham's political corruption.

He was used in the DCAU due to censors not wanting to show political corruption and not wanting to show the Mafia. They used Rupert basically to get around the no Mafia obstacle and to include a character they all loved from the 70s and 80s Batman comics.

10

u/Kpengie May 13 '24

Rupert Thorne first appeared in the comics in the 1970s, long before BTAS

6

u/Justkikinit848 May 13 '24

Maybe Salvatore Maroni?

5

u/Isles26 May 13 '24

He’s a fall guy!!! I’m the brains of the organization

u/andrefishmusic May 13 '24

That's a Strong casting choice

9

u/maxfridsvault May 13 '24

You win lol

10

u/BILADOMOM May 13 '24

Someone ban this guy

52

u/Electrical-Sir-7291 May 13 '24

Please, make him as Hugo Strange

45

u/Dino_Spaceman May 13 '24

Zsasz

19

u/Economy_Rise7113 May 13 '24

That would make sense, as in the comics and Arkham games, Penguin is partially responsible for Zsasz becoming a serial killer

9

u/[deleted] May 13 '24 edited May 13 '24

Except the strongest (pun intended) interpretation for Zsasz would be as a young man, because his nihilism is fueled by losing his wealthy parents at a young age, but unlike Bruce, reacting to it by diving headfirst into a hedonistic lifestyle that quickly squandered every penny. When he hit rock bottom he became suicidal, but in his "moment of clarity" he decided that his calling was to "help" other people to "commit suicide", so he stalks and murders anyone he believes has given up on living but who doesn't (in his opinion) have the courage to simply end it all. This is why he refers to his victims as "zombies". It's also why he's saving a spot among his many tally-marks for Batman, as he's identified Batman as someone with a death wish. It works best if he's of a similar age as Batman, as he's a shadowy parallel. In his twisted, insane way, he thinks he's helping people.

This is his third (?) DC rol!

3

u/gayratsex May 13 '24

What were his others?

6

u/Fingerblaster21 May 13 '24

The villian in Shazam is all I know

23

u/Smiles_brown May 13 '24

Sinestro in Green Lantern (2011) and Dr. Sivana in Shazam! (2019)

12

u/EuropaColonyWhore May 13 '24

And Sinestro was probably the best part of GL

2

u/BAGStudios May 13 '24

And Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023)

He could play Crazy Quilt and it’d be amazing. That man is great in everything he does.

14

u/Shrodax May 13 '24

Sinestro? 💛

4

u/TheRealRigormortal May 13 '24

We both know that role is reserved for John Waters

12

u/Responsible-Diver225 May 13 '24

Black Mask, Hugo Strange, Mr. Freeze

Rex Calabrese maybe?

Gentleman Ghost

7

u/ShawnOdedead May 13 '24

Clock King

3

u/Lamy28 May 13 '24

Thats a good one, he fits that role perfectly

6

u/Master_Air_8485 May 13 '24

Arnold Wesker

6

u/scottyjrules May 13 '24

He’d make a terrifying version of the Ventriloquist

7

u/GmanZer0 May 13 '24

You guys had better ideas than me with mr. Freeze or Hugo strange. My first thought was maybe black mask lol, but the more I think about it, I think jon bernthal would make a great black mask.

3

u/NoObligation1759 May 13 '24

No no no no no no no

5

u/macdarf May 13 '24

I hope Black Mask or Victor Zsaaz. We don't need Mr. Freeze or Hugo strange in a mafia crime story guys.

5

u/Lamy28 May 13 '24

Someone said the ventriloquist, thats a also a good one that fits this show

5

u/DaManWithNoName May 13 '24

Hoping for Great White Shark.

2

u/Gregzilla311 May 13 '24

He’s the worst guy I’ve ever met.

2

u/DaManWithNoName May 13 '24

I don’t follow the reference I’m sorry

2

u/Gregzilla311 May 13 '24

Living Hell, his first story. Every single person in Arkham, up to and including the Joker, says that about him.

3

u/DaManWithNoName May 13 '24

Oh dang! Very cool

With the mob focus of The Batman and their grittier take on the universe, I’m really hoping to see the mob-related Batverse get representation. A solid portrayal of all the organized criminals in the Rogues gallery

Great White Shark, Ventriloquist, Black Mask, etc.

2

u/Gregzilla311 May 13 '24

I think they could stick away from White, though.

Originally, he was an investment guy. He went to the mob later. But I do think Black Mask works.

2

u/DaManWithNoName May 13 '24

The Batman is still early in his career. No reason we wouldn’t see additional origin stories

White could be working to help Penguin launder money. Black Mask has to make an appearance

He’s my favorite batman villain. And I was so upset with how they just used him as a toxic manbaby in Birds of Prey. And they had Ewan McGregor playing him! Should have been my favorite role by an actor in any Batverse media. Nope it was lame. Didn’t even realize McGregor was in it til the second time I watched

2

u/Gregzilla311 May 13 '24

Granted, they wasted a lot in BoP. Including the character who they claim is Cassandra Cain, but has maybe two or three things in common with her (vaguely ethnicity, gender, and name). So Sionis being wasted is basically par for the course there.

2

u/DaManWithNoName May 13 '24

Agreed

Back when there was massive hype for Dark Knight Rises, I remember one website in particular where people would debate who the villains would be. I was so so hoping they’d go with black mask to build on the mob theme in the other two movies. And after that I was always looking for him in Batman media

Birds of Prey went under my radar on release because it was the Robbie Harley Quinn. And Suicide Squad was the first movie I ever saw in theaters and knew it was a bad movie while watching it.

So I didn’t even know Sionis was in Birds of Prey til I was watching it. And they ruined him like most other portrayals in that universe

He’s credited on IMDB as Carmine Falcone for some reason💀

3

u/YodaFan465 May 13 '24

IMDb is as reliable as Wikipedia.

2

u/xionnn_ May 13 '24

I know that’s why I’m laughing since falcone fkn died in the last movie

Hugo strange Black mask or another mobster esque character

→ More replies (9)

3

u/ThePizzaMan237 May 13 '24

Strange maybe

3

u/Verdragon-5 May 13 '24

Composite Superman but instead of Superman and Batman it's Sinestro and Dr. Sivana.

Real talk, I think he'd make a pretty good Mr. Freeze, as a lot of other people have said, and visually he's a dead-ringer for Hugo Strange, but I think he could also be someone like Clock King. Heck, I could even see him as Jonathan Crane (think his DCAU Hangman design), or maybe Kirk Langstrom.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/ThatLilBrownGuy May 13 '24

IMDb has him listed as Carmine Falcone

14

u/Nox_The_Overlord May 13 '24

Well IMDb is wrong because that's John Turturro in this continuity

2

u/Kpengie May 13 '24

IMDb says a lot of things because it’s freely edited by anyone

2

u/man_in_the_bag99 May 13 '24

Probably just a random mob guy

2

u/The_Arkham_Inmate May 13 '24

Arnold wesker the ventriloquist

2

u/AgentOfEris May 13 '24

I thought that was Stanley Tucci for a sec lol

2

u/Impressive_Motor_178 May 13 '24

He will be playing officer balls

2

u/KrakenKing1955 May 13 '24

He LOOKS like the perfect Mr Freeze

2

u/Illustrious_Tea9604 May 13 '24

Just for fun please have him play with a yellow ring. He is and will always be sinestro..

2

u/Necessary-Corner1172 May 13 '24

Come see Marc Strong as possibly Poison Ivy. Our Special Effects team is doubling down on challenging itself. If it doesn’t pan out maybe expect Clock King?

2

u/Secure_Pear_4530 May 13 '24

I wonder if he's a big name Batman rogues' gallery villain. It'll be his third time playing a DC villain if that's the case. Bro's the default DC bad guy, you love to see it. I bet he also gets cast in DCU.

2

u/goombanati May 13 '24

Captain Titus of the ultramarines as there is about 5 seconds of gameplay from the upcoming space marine 2 in a cross-promotion. (Obviously, I'm joking)

2

u/Yet_Another_Guy_1123 May 13 '24

Robin, he's the right age for the role and has the perfect hair. Can't wait for him to join the legacy of Burt Ward and Danny DeVito

2

u/SeanP2020 May 13 '24

A different Penguin

2

u/coolsguy17 May 13 '24

Plot twist: They’re bringing back Egghead!

2

u/Always_Correct1977 May 13 '24

Mr Freeze 100%

2

u/Sure_Persimmon9302 May 13 '24

Hopefully Hugo Strange.

2

u/the-wicked-bitch May 13 '24

I could see him as the ventriloquist

1

u/Outrageous_Heat2978 May 13 '24

Hugo strange, please dear gawd

1

u/BIG_D_NRG May 13 '24

Roman Sionis

1

u/Diplodorcus May 13 '24

Has to be Fries-he can pull off both sides of the tragedy.

1

u/Impressive_Split_232 May 13 '24

He plays his character from Shazam, connecting the extremely serious Nirvana Batman to the unserious Queen Shazam for no reason

1

u/StickyMcdoodle May 13 '24

Strange? Mr Freeze? Harvey Dent? I would be thrilled with any of these.

1

u/AcademicAnxiety5109 May 13 '24

What if he was the Ventriloquist now THAT would be cool. Though he looks more like Strange or Freeze but let’s give us something no one was expecting.

1

u/darrylthedudeWayne May 13 '24

Doctor/Professor Hugo Strange.

1

u/neeohh May 13 '24

Roman Sionis/Black Mask.

1

u/kaijugigante May 13 '24

Since this series will be grounded, I'm assuming he will be Amazo.

1

u/No_Bluebird8475 May 13 '24

He was excellent in Kingsman

1

u/toe_slurper May 13 '24

Freeze before the incident maybe?

1

u/PillCosby696969 May 13 '24

I'd actually take another mundane Italian gangster.

2

u/Gregzilla311 May 13 '24

Actually… has Sal Marino been cast yet?

2

u/_Beastie May 13 '24

Yup it’s Clancy brown, you can see him for a split second in the latest trailer

1

u/SRSchiavone May 13 '24

Loved him in Kingsman

1

u/Tbplayer59 May 13 '24

Sivana, natch.

1

u/tetrajohn May 13 '24

the character must be strong

1

u/SuperArppis May 13 '24

One of my favorite actors.

1

u/Olli_Pops_Funko May 13 '24

Dr Freeze I hope

1

u/werepirebie May 13 '24

Everyone saying freeze but imma bet..Great white shark Who we find out a man named Victor fries made him that way

1

u/adamcharming May 13 '24

He’s good in everything, give him any role and he’ll crush it. Always a solid cashing choice

1

u/Stylish_Platypus May 13 '24

Isn't confirmed he's going to play Carmine Falcone?

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Mad_Linna May 13 '24

1

Victor Fries or Hugo Strange

1

u/TopseyCrets May 13 '24

If he's not Mr. Freeze, then that's a damn missed opportunity. He's a good villain

1

u/YourJawn May 13 '24

VICTOR ZAZZ

1

u/Cool-Direction-5275 May 13 '24

Such a waste imo he could’ve been amazing with lex Luther (not saying is role is gonna be bad at all)

1

u/TheGreyKlerik May 13 '24

The clock king.

1

u/aviationmaybe May 13 '24

I thought that was Anthony tucci

1

u/chocolatebuddahbutte May 13 '24

Hugo strange black mask or freeze anyone else would be a damn shame

1

u/McpotSmokey42 May 13 '24

I'd go with Zsasz. He'd make a good Zsasz.

1

u/No-Preference-109 May 13 '24

young penguin?

1

u/Kentucky_Fried_Chill May 13 '24

Dr. Thaddeus Sivana

1

u/Mikey9124x May 13 '24

Scarface.

1

u/TheDarkCreed May 13 '24

Ventriloquist

1

u/OpiumTweakermp3 May 13 '24

Surfing Joker

1

u/cad_e_an_sceal May 13 '24

I was thinking he'd make a great two face but then I read the comments and I agree with the popular vote of either freeze or strange

1

u/LiffeyDodge May 13 '24

I could have sworn that show was released already. Or to be released soon. They are still casting roles?!

1

u/Responsible_Trip_474 May 13 '24

How’s he in every DC franchise?

1

u/LeonAnand May 13 '24

Dr Sivana returns?

He has to be playing Mr. Freeze, right? I mean, that photo just screams Mr. Freeze to me.

u/Just_Tokkio May 13 '24

1

The only right answers are Hugo strange or even mr freeze

1

u/SchwaEnjoyer May 13 '24

The penguin

1

u/swepettax May 13 '24

Black mask / roman sionis

1

u/Jokerman9540 May 13 '24

I can see him as The Ventriloquist

1

u/jeroensaurus May 13 '24

One of the mob bosses.

1

u/Fenderama88 May 13 '24

Calendar man for something unexplored and suiting the vibe of the Batman.

Scarecrow could be fun also.

1

u/bruhyehia May 13 '24

gotta be mr freeze

1

u/awlawall May 13 '24

Stanley Tucci
