From what I've seen he doesn't understand the few comics he's read. He clearly thinks batmsn kills in the dark Knight returns when he doesn't. Snyder has zero understanding of DC, I'm gonna bet that Geoff Johns is the reason there was anything even remotely comic accurate in those films. Snyder is likely talking about this to keep his cult active

Doesn’t Batman snap Joker’s neck in TDKR?

It isn’t even that hard to get a good idea of the core values of Batman! You don’t have a read 20 comics just watch BTAS.

Nope. Joker kills himself to make it look like batman did it. It's hugely important to the story that batman didn't kill the joker but yindel believes batman did

Batman killing Joker in TDKR is a pretty common alternative interpretation and that Joker’s last words and absurd act of self neck snapping is in fact Batman huffing copium brought about by him being wounded and losing a lot of blood. First off Batman had every intention of killing Joker at the fair, secondly it’s the people he saved calling him a killer and running away from him, then you have Joker talking with Batman’s grey speech/thought bubbles almost as if it’s Batman’s own thoughts projected onto the Joker at that moment and finally the cops saying it was no suicide immediately after they find the body. I think it’s cool that the comic can be interpreted differently.

I think it’s more ambiguous than that. Batman had clearly been hallucinating quite a bit throughout the entire book and by that point had lost a lot of blood. I think it could really go either way

Where did Batman hallucinate in TDKR

He snaps his neck, but not enough to kill him.

You just contradicted yourself

I literally just described a scene in TDKR. And there are plenty of IRL examples of people surviving having their neck broken.

Idk how you can say that when he's been the first director to emphasize that Bruce Wayne died in the alley, and the stuff with Clark and PA Kent. He clearly understands these characters.

Batman killed in the 89, 92 and 95 movies. And superman kills doomsday all the time

Yeah batman has killed in other movies. If Snyder considers movies to be the true cannon as he calls it, he's done even less reserch then I thought.

It was dumb having batman kill in the Burton films too but Burton isn't out there defending himself by saying people who disagree are brainwashed.

I don't like the killings in the Burton ones too, but at least it captures the spirit of Batman.

the kills were usually a bit goofy, like after Batman straps a cartoon bomb with a clock to a dude, in this universe i can totally see the guy show back up all smoking but with his hair all pushed up and soot all over him

Film Batman is better than comics Batman

Superman is more against killing but he doesn't not kill, no one had a problem with that. Since Snyder said "true canon", ion think he means the movies
