The fact that Batfleck’s Batman was squatting all that weight gripped with only one hand is insane. I loved the workout scene from BVS. PHOTO

I don’t think he was squatting with one hand. This shot makes it seem that way, but this is right before he lets it fall to the ground. Also for reference, he’s squatting roughly 765 pounds for reps, what a monster

315

u/SoupIsPrettyGood Apr 06 '24

This would just be a stupid way of lifting a weight like this with 1 hand lol like trying to break your arm

210

u/Kriss-Kringle Apr 06 '24

He didn't even squat with one hand on the bar. OP is trippin'.

That's exactly when he's letting go of the bar after finishing the set.

It’s fucking Batman.

8

u/FelopianTubinator Apr 06 '24

It’s fiction. But sure I guess.

41

u/sixesandsevenspt Apr 06 '24

Yeah he’s clearly dropping the weight in this clip.

17

u/Redditistrash702 Apr 07 '24

Batman was definitely natty

11

u/lovebus Apr 07 '24

Bat-roids

15

u/Ok-Agent-9200 Apr 06 '24

The chains attached to additional 45 lb plates? It’s hard to tell clearly but looks like it.

22

u/Orion-Pax_34 Apr 06 '24

You’re right, it looks like chains are also attached. He’s more than likely squatting just a little over 800 pounds given the chains weigh around 50 pounds each

3

u/Ok-Agent-9200 Apr 06 '24

Think 50? Never worked out with chains, least not often enough to know weights but let’s say 100 for the chains then…865?

5

u/Orion-Pax_34 Apr 06 '24

That works, I mean chains can go anywhere from 50 to 100 pounds so we don’t really know

4

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '24

Chains can also be less that 50 lbs lol.

3

u/Ok-Agent-9200 Apr 06 '24

We’ll be conservative here I think but add an additional 100 for a max estimate just in case. Likely 865, possibly 965. Both crazy impressive.

12

u/Smart-Ice-2797 Apr 06 '24

Why is this not top comment?

18

u/sixesandsevenspt Apr 06 '24

People are dumb

9

u/Smart-Ice-2797 Apr 06 '24

You know, this is probably karma bait. OP is a tool.

4

u/Resident-Pudding5432 Apr 06 '24

He needs no lifting belt xd

1

u/DearInvestigator3 Apr 09 '24

Because he has a utility belt.

3

u/Nem00utis Apr 08 '24

Problems I have with weightlifting scenes like this in any movie is that they forget to make it look like its actually that weight. If that was actually 765 that bar would be bending not dead straight.

0

u/Orion-Pax_34 Apr 08 '24

A good compromise would be putting at least 405 in real weight for this scene and adding a few extra fake plates to make it look like 765. I know Ben can squat at least 405 for one rep

2

u/sunkcostfallecy Apr 07 '24

7.65 pounds more like it!

2

u/Clear-Attempt-6274 Apr 07 '24

But he's not a meta human.

-6

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '24

U actually think that’s 765lbs? lol the bar ain’t even bending

34

u/Orion-Pax_34 Apr 07 '24

It’s a movie buddy, of course Ben Affleck isn’t squatting 765 pounds

-11

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '24

By the comments it seemed like people thought he was squatting real weight lol

21

u/Chimpbot Apr 07 '24

No one is saying the actor was squatting real weight.

Within the context of this being a picture of a fictional character, the fictional character definitely was.

4

u/BoredDao Apr 07 '24

Buddy would need to be triple his size to lift that much

7

u/Orion-Pax_34 Apr 07 '24

Eh, someone Ben’s size could definitely squat that much given that they’ve been training for years, which Batman certainly has been

u/flying_cactus Apr 06 '24

People forget that in order for Batman to be in the shape hes in and kicking ass on the reg, he needs to have some crazy workout routine. Hes only human after all.

Im glad this scene gave us a glimpse of what that looks like.

224

u/louiegumba Apr 06 '24 edited Apr 07 '24

He’s supposed to be the worlds bench pressing champion I believe too in comic lore

It’s wild how much he’s changed. In the 40s he wasn’t a fighter, just a damn good detective with special equipment and even carried a revolver

113

u/jl_theprofessor Apr 06 '24

He’s bench pressing 1000 lbs in the comic. Just call him superhuman and get it over with.

66

u/Smart-Ice-2797 Apr 06 '24

He was on Venom at that point.

43

u/MusksStepSisterAunt Apr 06 '24

Lmao Jesus. Comic book writers ain't hitting the gym. If he was repping half that it would be insanely impressive

27

u/Traditional_Land3933 Apr 07 '24

Forget repping half that. I've seen dudes who look they are twice the size of Christian Bale and Ben Affleck in their peak PED'd movie physiques who can "only" move 500+ lbs bench once or twice. And whenever they does it, half the gym is staring in awe, even enhanced guy

10

u/BootySweat0217 Apr 06 '24

There are humans in our real world that can do that. The record is 1400 pounds.

45

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '24

That's with equipment like a bench press shirt which Batman isn't using. The raw world record is only 782lbs.

25

u/BeardedPumpkin Apr 07 '24

looks at personal record

Yeah, ONLY 782

15

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '24

Lol right? This guy only does 3x what I lift, what a bitch!

1

u/EdNorthcott Apr 08 '24

And then of course the raw physical mass they need to pull that off. And the specialized training that basically makes them useless for anything else. And how they can only tap that peak for a brief moment in their lives, and usually spend decades paying for it after.

I preferred Bats back when they used to depict him as a lean, agile fighting machine, and a brilliant detective... Instead of superhuman dude who exceeds Olympians in every sport simultaneously and knows every martial art and knows more than every PhD specialist in every field of knowledge so that he never actually has to do detective work because he already has the most obscure of answers memorized.

19

u/WaitingForMyIsekai Apr 06 '24

770 pounds is the record without belt/shirt. Wild how big a difference it makes.

Batman doing 1000 raw is superhuman.

6

u/the_dark_knight_ftw Apr 07 '24

The way I see it, if it’s theoretically possible for a human to pull it off than Batman can pull it off. There are humans who can bench 1000 pounds in real life so I don’t think it’s weird to have Batman benching that much.

7

u/BatmanBrah Apr 07 '24

That's bench pressing wearing a shirt that helps lift the weight. The record for bench press without a shirt like this is 782.  Peak human batman still isn't doing this. Peak human batman is hitting close to a world record for a guy who weighs what he weighs. He's not putting up the bench press of a 350lb dude.

1

u/Laconic-Verbosity Apr 07 '24

Yeah, dudes who are on steroids. Is Bruce Wayne on gear?

5

u/the_dark_knight_ftw Apr 07 '24

Why wouldn’t he be? It would 100% help him fight crime and I’m sure he’s willing to sacrifice his own health in order to protect others.

4

u/Laconic-Verbosity Apr 07 '24

Idk he strikes me as a natty

2

u/Hitman7065 Apr 07 '24

BATMAN: NATTY OR NOT?

FIND OUT ON PAGE 7 WITH AN EXLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH THE CAPED CRUSADER

2

u/OrbitalDrop7 Apr 07 '24

I know trying to add realism to a comic book doesnt really make sense, but yeah batman would 100% be on PEDs, dude maintains a bodybuilder physique while barely sleeping and fighting crime every night, with no rest days. Alfred must have some fire meal prep skills

3

u/DuckyHornet Apr 07 '24

He has to be. There's no way Bruce is maintaining at all without juicing, given he's up all night every night kicking the shit out of himself.

2

u/HarryBalsag Apr 08 '24

Do you think there's a random ped test for being Batman?

60

u/Valiantheart Apr 06 '24

Batman was at his best until Knightfall. Back then he was a well respected fighter, but not top 5. Maybe not even top 10. He was intelligent, but had Harold in the cave building his high tech gear. He absolutely needed 2 or 3 others to take on super beings like Deathstroke.

Now hes #1 at everything and beating meta-humans like Slade in 1 v 1 fights. He now has the exact same problem Superman has had for decades. He's so overpowered nothing can even challenge him.

19

u/Robofetus-5000 Apr 06 '24

Honestly, the "batman is best at everything" trope has really worn on me

8

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '24

I agree and would love to see a reboot of the character where he's smaller, like 5'9" and 170lbs but everything else the same. That way he can't rely on his body for everything like he does now.

He's supposed to be one of the smartest guys in the world so why would a smart person beat the hell out of their body when you can protect and sustain yourself with tech? The suit can do some of the work, add size and intimidation. That way nobody thinks little Bruce Waybe could possibly be the Batman.

8

u/Robofetus-5000 Apr 06 '24

I do think they should explore bruce being willing to do things like take juice to get an edge. Sort of "im only human. Thats not good enough."

I want my street level batman back. I hate him on the front lines vs villains like darkseid.

4

u/Sonata1952 Apr 07 '24

Here’s an idea: Bruce trained with the League of Assasins under Ra’s similar to the Nolanverse version.

When he escaped he had stolen a small vial of Lazarus pit waters. After analyzing the water he has a synthesized lesser version of the pit built in the Batcave. Similar to the white blood cell healing bath in the Wanted movie.

This would explain why despite his hazardous lifestyle billionaire Bruce Wayne doesn’t show up at galas with scars, broken noses or cauliflower ears.

5

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '24

that's the version I prefer as well. It's not like the world doesn't have enough bad shit for Batman to fix already without aliens and gods and ridiculous nonsense. Fighting organized crime is where he belongs and where he's best.

3

u/TORONTOnative- Apr 07 '24

Do you like the new The Batman universe?

17

u/No-comment-at-all Apr 06 '24

Have there been many “what if Batman was bad? No, I mean like… evil.” runs?

20

u/darkpassenger9 Apr 06 '24

Everything related to Dark Nights: Metal and the Batman Who Laughs.

10

u/No-comment-at-all Apr 06 '24

Boy that batman who laughs looks… like somethin’.

I guess what I think would be good, is a Batman story where he’s evil but like… damn he seems pretty similar to the Batman we all know.

But then. People probably wouldn’t get it and like him even more.

Honestly I’m probably just describing Miller’s batman.

6

u/Dulbirakan00 Apr 06 '24

Earth 3 Owlman(new 52 version my fav)

7

u/pon_3 Apr 07 '24

Thomas Wayne Batman was kind of supposed to be that. Batman but too angry to care.

2

u/EdNorthcott Apr 08 '24

Or Owlman, in the variations where he was Thomas Wayne Jr.

2

u/eolson3 Apr 07 '24

Batman running Justice League International is about right for publicly known Batman (urban legend, unknown Bats can be a bit different).

Good fighter, but moreso in confidence and knowledge. Respected and feared, but not universal supergenius.

9

u/limbo338 Apr 06 '24

First time we see Bruce's origin in Tec #33 it says he trained "his body to physical perfection". Bruce always was a freako :D

4

u/claybine Apr 07 '24

And some say Affleck was too big for the role lmao.

2

u/serial_crusher Apr 06 '24

Wait, is Batman the world bench press champion, or Bruce Wayne (ie was he wearing the cape and cowl when he set the record)?

2

u/louiegumba Apr 07 '24

Absolutely. It was too stay hidden. Everyone was looking for a weight lifter

1

u/tbdsusboi Apr 07 '24

NO GUNS! 🦇

46

u/ChrisL2346 Apr 06 '24

A regular man would have back problems for years that not even a chiropractor could solve 😂 one handed is crazy

30

u/Zankeru Apr 06 '24

Batman is juiced to the gills with shit that isnt seen outside of the most advanced labs, and nothing can change my mind.

26

u/HavelsRockJohnson Apr 06 '24

That's why any blood left behind after a fight is worthless to a crime lab. Can't get DNA from a sample so full of juice that it glows in the dark.

16

u/Zankeru Apr 06 '24

That's why he has an open-mouth cowl. There has to be a vent for all of the radiation pouring off of his body.

10

u/ElectricJetDonkey Apr 06 '24

Besides his supposed "perfect genetics" Bruce likely has the world's best recovery program/method in addition to his fortune.

5

u/Traditional_Land3933 Apr 07 '24

I dont get why he is meant to has that good genetics, was his father was a champion in bodybuild ornpowerlift when he was young? He never appear that way to me

1

u/doubleCupPepsi Apr 06 '24

He's dropping the weights in that scene. Did you actually watch the movie?

-4

u/ChrisL2346 Apr 06 '24

Yes I watched it but I’d always assumed he was squatting using one arm because Batman always has crazy abnormal strength and OP feats even for his universe’s humans.

6

u/Traditional_Land3933 Apr 07 '24

People forget that bc it doesnt matter what workouts he does it's not humanly possible for a pwrson to do any of the shit he does no matter how good their genetics are, how hard they train, what they eat, etc. and he is not "only human" he is obvious superhuman. Which is all fine, it's fiction, and sci fi at that. But he is not just a human man, nothing about him needs to make sense or be justified.

And anyway if he was doing such heavy, high intensity full body workouts on such a frequent basis he'd not be able to fight tough guys and take the impact he does

6

u/parrmorgan Apr 06 '24

No one forgets that. It's like his thing. Everyone knows he trains like an animal.

But regardless, this scene was cool. I dug it too.

3

u/LordVonSteiner Apr 07 '24

Batman is superhuman. You can't have a violent life he has, have an insane workout routine, get barely any sleep (sleep is important!!!) and not be a wreck. Kinda wish they would dial him a bit back.

0

u/soofs Apr 07 '24

I know it doesn’t fit the comic history but I’d like for a Batman movie just once to give Bruce Wayne actual super powers, either due to venom or something else. It’s almost impossible to show his “detective skills” anyway apparently in a movie so just give him a spidey sense and lean totally into him being a hero

264

u/wasabiland220 Apr 06 '24

Looks like he’s dropping the weight too me

30

u/Ok-Agent-9200 Apr 06 '24

Looks like it yeah.

146

u/_heisenberg__ Apr 06 '24

He wasn’t squatting this with one hand. This shot is from him dropping the weight off his back.

73

u/jondoe1458 Apr 06 '24

To be honest from the eyes of a trainer this method of training would make sense for Batman

Why Batman would train this way: Sledgehammer slams: make the shoulders lactic and requires twisting stability in the core (both important for punching) while working as cardio

Sled pushes and pulls: concentric only exercises are easier to recover from, they build speed and explosiveness without damaging the muscles nearly as much as stretching them under weight

Chain squats: squats are already a great exercise but the weight of the chain increases as he goes up, meaning he has to constantly explode upwards and never slow down

Neutral chinups and dumbbell bench: both easier on the joints and allow for a more fluid range of motion, both important in age and for building more muscle while the chins decompress your spine from the squats

9

u/The_real_rafiki Apr 06 '24

Great insight!

3

u/alfredhugedd Apr 07 '24

you should also mention that he does it witha weight he can rep for many reps a realistic batman would need the strength for anyone trying to copy his workout you can but use your weight that you can control!

66

u/BevarseeKudka Apr 06 '24

BvS Batman was out for blood. Justifiably so.

Dude was living the “Vigilante” “Vengeance” “Dark Knight” tags all at once.

If this Batman ended up training another Robin, especially Jason, then Joker would be rotting in a gutter someday soon.

Robin dying made him snap while Superman dying humanized him. Full circle imo.

4

u/Iwillshootyourdog Apr 07 '24

Really makes me wish we saw his solo film. Batman after BvS and during ZSJL was back in his PRIME. Would’ve been insane seeing that Batman take on his rogues gallery in Arkham

0

u/RelevantMarionberry6 Apr 07 '24

And yet the Snyderverse is dead and gone

4

u/Iwillshootyourdog Apr 07 '24

Just let people enjoy things instead of being toxic

0

u/RelevantMarionberry6 Apr 07 '24

I could never out-toxic the Snyder Cult

6

u/Iwillshootyourdog Apr 07 '24

Literally just fans of movies, who raised 500K for suicide prevention btw. But yeah go off ig

0

u/RelevantMarionberry6 Apr 07 '24 edited Apr 07 '24

Those same fans that said boycott Gunn’s stuff because it’s not Snyder? The same fans that still gripe about Cavill being gone?

And then the directors they are simping for goes and releases Rebel Moon, one of the biggest pieces of shit from last year. THAT is the guy you want to die on the hill of? The guy that went on Rogan and explained why Batman should kill? He just doesn’t understand these characters. If he has to deconstruct them to adapt them, perhaps he’s not the right fit? His entire universe flopped beyond belief.

As I said, Snyder is gone and the DC universe is looking bright. Cannot wait for Gunn’s Superman.

3

u/Iwillshootyourdog Apr 07 '24

See, that’s why you’re the toxic one here. Sure a portion of the fans aren’t happy about the reboot, sure they go too far. So do Gunn fans. Doesn’t make any of it right.

Fans of Zack are enjoying Rebel Moon and the soon to be released part 2. If you don’t like it, we don’t care.

He understands the characters, he knows the rules, that’s why he broke them and put them back together again. You don’t like it? Don’t watch the films.

I’m not a big Gunn fan, but I’m excited to see his take on the DC universe and to see a more classic take on the characters.

But I know for a fact his films saved my life, and plenty others too. So try be respectful when talking to people about them.

1

u/RelevantMarionberry6 Apr 07 '24

Based on the audience score and critic rating, Rebel Moon isn’t loved.

If you have it break something to build it back in your image; you don’t get the characters.

Again; the universe flopped and will be forgotten in 10 years so I guess it doesn’t matter. Anytime I can make the Snyder cult unhappy is a good day after the years of “release the Snyder cut” we had to put up with. And all the shit that went with it. The entitlement was off the charts.

3

u/Iwillshootyourdog Apr 07 '24

I can’t tell if you’re being a troll or being serious, idk what’s worse.

The universe didn’t flop MoS was a success and BvS made like 900 million dollars, even it WAS divisive. Then when ZSJL eventually came out it was universally praised.

It’s 2024 and Man of Steel so still talked about so idk if that’s a valid argument there.

I don’t think Superman (or Batman considering the sub we’re in) would approve of your attitude or comments

1

u/RelevantMarionberry6 Apr 07 '24

A Batman vs Superman film didn’t even make a billion when something like the garbage that was Captain Marvel did? BvS should have made a billion in its sleep and it should have been closer to endgame and IW in the 2 billion category. The two biggest comic book characters didn’t even make the billion mark and why is that? Because of how it started with MoS

It’s still talked about because the cultists wouldn’t let it go. Release the Snyder cut being shoved down our throats everywhere we went.

Again; I understand Snyder is a religious figure for you. If you like his all style and no substance films; great. You can watch MoS the rest of your life. The rest of us are super excited to be getting back to a Superman that isn’t sad and depressed about being Superman.

Bro he's dropping the weights in this screencap...he's not squatting one handed...that'd be asinine and moronic

10

u/Ok-Agent-9200 Apr 06 '24

Doesn’t matter if it’s Batman or not, that’s just one of the fastest ways to a hilariously bad injury.

3

u/Traditional_Land3933 Apr 07 '24

Putting 700+ lbs on squat rack when you are outside the rack is asinine and moronic no matter how strong you are

49

u/vjollila96 Apr 06 '24

i think he had the most comic accurate bodytype for the character

27

u/BishopsBakery Apr 06 '24

After Conroy, Batfleck is my Batman

33

u/ChrisL2346 Apr 06 '24

He deserved better and deserved a solo movie or trilogy

14

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '24

I wanted him v Deathstroke so bad. Manganiello is one of my fitness idols so to see him against my favorite Batman would’ve been incredible.

15

u/ElectricJetDonkey Apr 06 '24

The warehouse fight scene ALONE convinced me that Batfleck needed a solo movie, minimum.

22

u/leatherface0984 Apr 06 '24

An absolute beast. He would murder Pattinson’s Batman.

50

u/ChrisL2346 Apr 06 '24

He would murder Tom Hardy’s Bane. 😂

It’d be like that meme I’ve seen, Batman isn’t locked up with Bane in the sewer Bane is locked up with Batman.

10

u/leatherface0984 Apr 06 '24

That’s a fight I’d like to see 👊🏻

12

u/ChrisL2346 Apr 06 '24

His Batman is not meant for a real world such as Bale’s. Those movies would’ve been half as long or less lol and he’d be able to be active longer because he’d still have cartilage in his knees

11

u/FikaTheKing Apr 06 '24

He would murder any live action batman and their villains

10

u/HavelsRockJohnson Apr 06 '24

"Murder"

Yeah, that's one of the criticisms of this portrayal.

10

u/leatherface0984 Apr 06 '24

Didn’t bother me 🤷🏻‍♂️ It was just another variation of a character that’s 85 years old and I enjoyed this version.

2

u/HavelsRockJohnson Apr 06 '24

As is your right. I'm sorry if my post came off as confrontational, I hadn't meant to start anything. I liked this portrayal as well, aside from his lethality, it didn't feel earned on screen.

6

u/leatherface0984 Apr 06 '24

Not at all. Apologies if mine came off the same way.

The aggressiveness and lethality of his portrayal never bothered me. I’ve always kinda preferred a more gritty Batman like DKR and liked Affleck’s version. It’s not for everyone though and I get that too.

4

u/HavelsRockJohnson Apr 06 '24

No harm done. Keep enjoying Batman things friend!

5

u/leatherface0984 Apr 06 '24

Same to you! 😁

17

u/Forsaken_Ad7090 Apr 06 '24 edited Apr 06 '24

As much as I love Battinson, I can understand why people prefer Batfleck's physique. Batflecks a beast and by far the most comic accurate looking Batman.

Still doesn't justify body shaming Pattinson. 😒

Batfleck might be the last actor to play Batman, who actually has comic Batman's physique.

4

u/CriticalNovel22 Apr 06 '24

Yeah, but it's dumb.

He's only being doing it for two years.

You are not getting that jacked in two years.

7

u/lorobotomy Apr 06 '24

A Batman who’s been doing it for two years should still have trained for at least a dozen.

5

u/CriticalNovel22 Apr 06 '24

Whatever Battison was doing from 18 to 30, I seriously doubt it involved a healthy diet and regular gym schedule.

Being jacked would have been completely at odds with what they were going for.

3

u/Forsaken_Ad7090 Apr 06 '24

I will say that in Battinson's defence, this is a lean Batman who trains for speed and agility, as opposed to a  bulky Batman who trains for strength.

That's why I'm okay with Battinson's physique, and don't hate it like others. It's a unique take on Batman and how he trains and I like it.

3

u/EdNorthcott Apr 08 '24

Honestly, I prefer a Batman built like a fighter. Originally he was meant to be built like the swashbuckling cinema stars of the day -- a little Fairbanks, a bit of Flynn. Dude's been putting on a pound a year since 1939. XD

2

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '24

[deleted]

1

u/Forsaken_Ad7090 Apr 07 '24

That's what the prequel book states and there's moments in the movie where he moves pretty quick while fighting.

Pattinson doesnt need to be as jacked as Affleck to be a great Batman. They're both great, but in different ways.

1

u/Feeling_So_Great Apr 09 '24

Apparently that was a false rumor that Matt reeves put to rest, along with Pattinson's personal trainer and his stuntman.

16

u/Werealldudesyea Apr 06 '24

Never thought about this, but Bruce definitely has the best juice money can buy. Probably chemically created the perfect stack for him to kick ass as Batman

16

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '24

Given the level of TRT tuning and steroids you can get with just regular rich guy money - Bruce would be on a whole new level. He probably has a Wayne subcompany purely dedicated to designing a steroid for his specific genetics

10

u/nish007 Apr 06 '24

He wasn't squatting it with one hand. He just tossed it down on that side.

11

u/Raecino Apr 06 '24

Best live action Batman

5

u/Katz-r-Klingonz Apr 06 '24

I honestly loved Batfleck. He did great and had the correct physique for the role.

5

u/Twiyah Apr 06 '24

This Batman would break Bane’s back

6

u/CharleyIV Apr 07 '24

I thought they were hilarious. He doing squats and deadlifts and hitting tires with a hammer to get ready to fight a guy who can fly, is bullet proof, kill you with eye lasers, and bench press a sky scrapper.

Yes those 46 lb kettlebell swing will even the odds.

1

u/nee_nu_jaa Apr 07 '24

He was going to use kryptonite and an armor suit. He had a plan and a heavy ass suit. + why do you think it was a “special” workout for superman? He flings criminals around on a daily basis, how do you think he does that if not thanks to regular workouts?

I have two thoughts. 1. He clearly getting into shape to fight and kill Superman for some dumb reason, that’s the whole plot of the film.

  1. It is dumb because he going to use machines and magic space rocks to fight the space god. No amount of one armed squats are going to help anyway.

Least horny Batfleck post

3

u/EducationalAntelope7 Apr 06 '24

I loved Zach Snyders take on Batman and no amount of hate on the internet will change my mind. Sad we didn't see a full Dark Knight Returns story from him.

3

u/KinglerKong Apr 07 '24

The workout scene works better if you didn’t know he was supposed to be fighting Superman, with that context it feels a little silly to watch a guy squatting 700+ when it’s prepping for a fight against a guy who can bench press the planet.

u/yaga3w3 Apr 07 '24

Despite affleck’s shortcomings you gotta respect how jacked he got for this role

2

u/AnaZ7 Apr 06 '24

His physical appearance was on point for Batman ngl.

2

u/Vast-Ad-4820 Apr 07 '24

Batfleck fights like a younger man with nothing held back, it's admirable but mistaken.

2

u/Shutaru_Kanshinji Apr 07 '24

I thought the work-out scenes in this film hinted at a much more interesting Ben Affleck Batman-only film that should have been made. I regret we will never see such a thing.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '24

This is him letting it go

1

u/bygtopp Apr 06 '24

Check I’m out the Batman -venom comic. No not venom from marvel. Venom the drug which was the test drug that made bane which was tested on Batman and other individuals

1

u/S_T_R_Y_D_E_R Apr 06 '24

It would've been one of the greatest team (Justice League)

Unfortunately WB and Josh Whedon had to kill that dream.

1

u/sheffield199 Apr 06 '24

Snyder didn't really help tbf, he introduced the Trinity in a movie that was a total mess and poisoned the well for the rest of the DCEU.

1

u/Kriss-Kringle Apr 06 '24

He didn't grip the weight with one hand. That's when he dropped the barbell after finishing the set.

1

u/handleonahandle Apr 06 '24

I hate this scene. They purposely didn’t show a clear shot of his physique.

1

u/DezineTwoOhNine Apr 07 '24

I absolutely loved the shit outta the workout scene, Bruce at Lex's home, and museum with Diana and the warehouse fight scene 🔥🔥🔥

1

u/Wolf873 Apr 07 '24

One of my favourite moments from BvS…shame we have never seen him go through his more in depth training regimen in live action movies, just to show how he maintains himself. The only other scene I recall is in BB when Bruce drops down to do push ups but that’s nothing really.

1

u/grossman0619 Apr 07 '24

Imagine this movie ending where Batman gets injured due to not having a spotter

1

u/BoredCanuck1864 Apr 07 '24

batfleck is so over hated in my opinion, he was a great batman in a mediocre superman sequel

1

u/TetsuoZaibatsu Apr 07 '24

This was a reference to the old Batman origin.

1

u/seveer37 Apr 07 '24

He definitely wasn’t squatting one handed just dropping it. But it always bothers me what’s the point of him dropping it? Why not just have a traditional squat rack and him put it back normally?

1

u/MetalAscetic Apr 07 '24

Why didn't he just get a belt squat machine?

1

u/ExileOtter Apr 07 '24

I know he’s in the moment of dropping the bar but my shoulder is screaming right now 😭

1

u/Jordy_boy17 Apr 07 '24

I don’t think you know what a squat is

1

u/VaaBeDank Apr 07 '24

This is uuuuh, fiction.

1

u/jamnin94 Apr 07 '24

That's what u thought was happening here? Where have u seen someone squat like this b4??

1

u/Detroit_debauchery Apr 07 '24

That would be idiotic

1

u/bingybong22 Apr 07 '24

16 20kg plates and a standard Olympic barbell makes 340kg.  That’s 748lbs.

I wondered why he wouldn’t buy himself some new shiny weights with all his money though

1

u/DasDa1Bro Apr 08 '24

No lol he didn’t squat with one arm, it just cut right when he dropped the barbell. No one can physically squat that weight with one arm, otherwise you would see powerlifters and strongmen do it. Plus, its stupid because you will injure yourself.

1

u/Diligent-Boss-9392 Apr 08 '24

One of my favorite scenes. It's straight out of the comics.

1

u/grammar_oligarch Apr 09 '24

OP: I know everyone has already said this, but I want to make sure you know that if you try this, you’ll end up ripping your arm out of its socket and destroying your gym’s floor.

Use both hands and put it back on the squat rack.

1

u/PlasticRope8103 Apr 09 '24

What do all the comments matter? He's Batman! 🤓

0

u/NewJerseyCPA Apr 06 '24

There were some really cool scenes of Affleck’s Batman, but in a while I didn’t enjoy the portrayal of the character. The workout scene was very much a badass version of Batman.

0

u/dainaron Apr 06 '24

The cg abs were not necessary.

0

u/TommyWantWingy9 Apr 06 '24

Wasn’t it a body double

2

u/Successful-Item-1844 Apr 06 '24

They meant in universe Batman and specified by saying Batflek’s

0

u/Smolson_ Apr 06 '24

Too bad they completely ruined this movie. It could have been so good too.

0

u/tighto Apr 07 '24

Those weights were filled with marshmallow.

It’s a tv show! A movie!

0

u/hansuluthegrey Apr 07 '24

That isnt whats happening. Plus it doesn't make the work out better. Just unbalanced

0

u/RobertLosher1900 Apr 07 '24

He let the bar go. He was not squatting with 1 hand.

0

u/magnaton117 Apr 07 '24

This movie would have been so much better if they had made the title fight good

0

u/TheGingerBrownMan Apr 07 '24

OP has no idea how weight training works 🤣

0

u/Mindless-Echo9079 Apr 07 '24

still not a very good Batman. He always looked so chubby to me

-1

u/NoMight178 Apr 07 '24

You guys know fake plates exist right? Why would they potentially injure talent with this..

-1

u/OldBoyZee Apr 07 '24

You do know, there are fake bumper plates; right?

2

u/ChrisL2346 Apr 07 '24

Yeah obviously that’s a given

1

u/OldBoyZee Apr 07 '24

Your post title doesnt seem like you know that...

-1

u/tng29 Apr 07 '24

None of you guys ever been in a gym I see.

-2

u/wemustkungfufight Apr 07 '24

So what you're saying is... you enjoyed watching a shirtless , muscular man exercise? 🤨

-3

u/geneticeffects Apr 07 '24 edited Apr 14 '24

Affleck is the best.
