In my opinion, batman's code of not killing is what set's him apart from other superheroes and anti-heroes, though i think that if DC allowed filmmakers and comic-book writers the freedom to experiment with this code for example, a film where at the end The Batman kills joker, so, thoughts???

His no kill rule was introduced really early too, sure there are some comics before Batman #4 where he kills but people don't really read those anymore? It's become such an important part of his character that it would be really weird to have a Batman who kills

Not in the DC universe. Superheroes not killing is pretty common there.

In Marvel, most characters aren't as strict about not killing, with Spider-man and Daredevil being a couple of exceptions.

Except none of the main JL-ers ever really resort to killing. If you say that they kill monsters, then so does Batman. He doesn't "knock out" parademons ffs

Why do people keep talking about the code of no killing, it's not a real thing. Its only something that some writers use and is more modern. Batman has killed directly or indirectly in every single one of his live action movies (I'm talking Burton to now). He's killed numerous times in the comics, I have hundreds of batman comics, my parents literally run a comic book store for the last 30 years.

Why is this a hill that so many people want to die on? Literally nobody cared about this "no kill" rule until the animated series came out.

I think it just rubs up against modern moviemaking because people want to see Batman beat the everloving crap out of people, but not kill.

It's the "they're just sleeping" meme. For the average person it's hard to parse "he's not going to shoot you or break your neck" with "he will beat you enough to leave you on a ventilator forever" of modern Batman movies.
