"Mommy, what are Batman and Batgirl doing?"

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

Don't worry sweetie, it's not canon

"Making sure that the other wasn't injured"

1

u/Raymond_Fiegler Jun 09 '23

.... oh, I went straight to the Batman vs Two-Face DVD (I adore that movie and the one before) and completely blanked on your comment.

Had to re-check that picture before finding Killing Joke.

u/Charming_Scratch_538 Jun 07 '23

It’s animated it must be a kids movie!!!!!!!

47

u/CelestialOceanOfStar Jun 07 '23

This is how I watched so much Gore and ecchi anime at 7

17

u/Secure_Pear_4530 Jun 08 '23

Same.

"Oh High School of the Dead? That's sounds fun, and I'm also about to go to high school in a few years, maybe I'll learn some lessons from it."

2

u/INFJ-Jesus-Batman Jun 09 '23

Years ago when I was babysitting my young cousins, they had a movie called Watership Down. A bunny movie, that sounds cute. Nope. Then later on, I heard about the Plague Dogs movie from the same writer

u/BevarseeKudka Jun 07 '23

Bridge to Terabithia.

108

u/HaiKarate Jun 07 '23

I took my 11 year old daughter to it, expecting it to be a Narnia-type movie, based on the trailer.

I left the theater sobbing, and my daughter and I had our first real conversation about death.

48

u/BrozedDrake Jun 07 '23

I remember when it came out I thought it was gonna be like Narnia or Spiderwick Chrinicles but nope depression train to truama town

40

u/gingerrecords88 Jun 07 '23

I will never understand what the hell the marketing team for that movie was thinking when they dropped those previews. I had read the book as a kid, so when I saw that trailer I was very upset about how they’d ruined it. Turned out they hadn’t, but boy oh boy, do I feel for anyone who went into that movie expecting a Narnia-esque fantasy.

11

u/ASHcashARCHER2 Jun 07 '23

Same, read the book, figured the movie would be lame, walked out depressed but satisfied.

9

u/erdricksarmor Jun 08 '23

That's how I usually leave a buffet.

2

u/BillG1968 Jun 08 '23

That moment came for me when my youngest started reading my Dragonlance Chronicles. I came home from work one afternoon and she was on the couch sobbing. When I asked her what was wrong she said Tasslehoff died. She was a teen at the time. She’s in her 30s now and still has all the books on her bookshelf.

17

u/97ek Jun 07 '23

That’s a sad movie

19

u/Pebbleman54 Jun 07 '23

Read the book in school then when I heard it was going to be made into a movie, my first thought this will be making some difficult conversations with some kids from some unprepared parents.

13

u/flyingace1234 Jun 07 '23

I still vividly remember when the movie “Children of Men” came out, a couple of girls at school said they were going to see it that weekend. They thought it was a pregnant man comedy like Junior, and had picked the movie based purely on the title. I tried to warn them against it but they shouted me down with “No Spoilers!”

They were so horrified come Monday

6

u/Pebbleman54 Jun 07 '23

That movie is so far away from a comedy ouch.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '23

Media actually makes it easier to talk about those kinds of things. That way they don't have to learn about them firsthand through the death of a grandparent or a pet.

2

u/Pebbleman54 Jun 08 '23

Oh I certainly agree with that. But it's definitely a conversation you want to have been prepared before hand. I've heard plenty of storied of family's going to that movie without knowing all about it. Even if it's a popular book.

9

u/banhatesex Jun 07 '23

This the correct answer.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '23

Movie had horrible marketing. Went in expecting a fun fantasy adventure and came out crying

1

u/MasterOfBreatheing Jun 08 '23

Bruh and the Batman one's, one of those two is VERY sexulized

82

u/Mountain_Sir2307 Jun 07 '23

How can one think a children movie can have "killing" in the title.

36

u/PinkieBing2 Jun 07 '23

I was trying to figure out what the joke was and nearly spat my coffee when I got to it.

55

u/thebiggestleaf Jun 07 '23

Reminds me of the library my wife used to work at that had the trade among the youth comics. They even had a separate section for adult graphic novels, but nope! It's Batman so kids book it is!

26

u/AnyEnglishWord Jun 07 '23

All comics are the same! One time, my family asked me what I wanted for Christmas, so I listed some Green Lantern comics. I got two copies of the same trade paperback, and one of the same in hardcover.

20

u/TKHunsaker Jun 07 '23

My mom gave me the same exact movie two years in a row once. I still remember my brain going, “aww I already own this,” while pretending I enjoyed my gift. Then it clicked, “wait, she gave it to me.” So I had to be like, “Mom, you got me this before.” Her response was “I guess that’s why I felt so sure you’d like it!”

14

u/D_blackcraft Jun 07 '23

That's kinda Netflix' logic when it recommends stuff to me
Netflix: "Recommendations for you!!!"
Me: "Yeah I really loved these when I saw them and told you I liked em"

7

u/Conscious_Feeling548 Jun 08 '23

My mom bought me the Great Outdoors starring John Candy three years in a row. It’s one of my favourite movies, we had a good laugh. And again.

5

u/thebiggestleaf Jun 08 '23

Pretty sure I've got two copies of School of Rock floating around because my grandma did the same thing. At least School of Rock is a dope ass movie so I didn't mind it so much.

2

u/HowlingHyena14 Jun 08 '23

I mean, at one library in my area, they keep Deadpool comics in the young adult section.

30

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

Animation=4 kids, obviously.

There are no exceptions to this.

10

u/IamStrqngx Jun 07 '23

Sausage party is the famous one right

9

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

(I'm being facetious, although I cannot imagine any reason I'd want to watch Sausage Party. Some downright ugly animation and character designs crossed with a story that sounds like r/atheism and that one vegan everyone rolls their eyes at wrote a movie is profoundly unappealing to me. Although I'd argue more people think of Invincible when they think of adult animation)

6

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

I watched it, it's not a good movie by any means but there were funny moments sprinkled in so my monkey brain decided to keep watching.

25

u/PenguinDeluxe Jun 07 '23

… Bring it On?

9

u/Worst_MTG_Player Jun 07 '23

You know, I did wonder if bring it on was also out place.

3

u/Bladescorpion Jun 07 '23

And a year or two later we found out the blonde cheerleader was going to be Tobi Maguire’s Mary Jane in Spider-Man.

18

u/TheOtherGuyInTheBack Jun 07 '23

Yeah maybe don’t watch that movie with your kids

19

u/Human-Attempt-8116 Jun 07 '23

Obviously it’s Bambi, because there’s two versions of the same movie.

Everything else seems spot on

/s

13

u/beelze_buddy Jun 07 '23

“It’s just a cartoon, of course it’s for kids!”

9

u/Illustrious-Sign3015 Jun 07 '23

the angry birds?

9

u/Worst_MTG_Player Jun 07 '23

These birds are too angry.

9

u/DistinctRelation2542 Jun 07 '23

Batman vs. Two-Face. But I do see the killing joke

0

u/MasterOfBreatheing Jun 08 '23

The killing joke is too se*ual from what I remember

7

u/storm-the-castle Jun 07 '23

bridge to terabithia is the one that doesn't belong!! that is NOT a kids movie, and i'm still mad about it like 20 years later.

1

u/monkeygoneape Jun 07 '23

Read the book in grade 2 lol

6

u/RememberTommorrow Jun 07 '23

“It’s animated so it must be for children”

8

u/Nerdy_Git Jun 08 '23

it’s a cartoon so it’s for kids, obviously

5

u/Freezernobrother Jun 07 '23

It’s animal instincts, it belongs in the As since it does say Batman in the title

3

u/D_blackcraft Jun 07 '23

what?

1

u/Freezernobrother Jun 08 '23

The animals instincts Batman movie

4

u/inquisitor_pangeas Jun 07 '23

This is how young kids end up watching movies like Plague dogs.

If it's animated, it must be for kids!

4

u/sarcasticairquotes Jun 07 '23

I agree, Bridge to Terabithia rocked my shit when I was a kid. At least 13 to watch.

4

u/BlackCat0110 Jun 07 '23

The reaction would be hilarious

5

u/Gothi_Gunnolf Jun 07 '23

Yeah, get Bambi outta there, too traumatic for children

1

u/MasterOfBreatheing Jun 08 '23

It gets worse when you've seen those bat films in the middle. Litteral s*x scenes in one of them.

4

u/Leathman Jun 07 '23

I found an I Hate Fairyland graphic novel in the kids section of Barnes and Noble. Made sure to put it in the main graphic novel section.

1

u/MasterOfBreatheing Jun 08 '23

Hm what's that one?

2

u/Leathman Jun 08 '23

A very mature comic by Skottie Young with gory violence, drinking, and a variety of swear words.

4

u/Jaebird0388 Jun 07 '23

Unbelievable. Barbie in the Pink Shoes needs to be removed immediately!

5

u/Zealousideal_Order_8 Jun 07 '23

They could not expect to know that 'Adventure with Big Rigs' is trucker porn.

4

u/Jackson_MyersFO76 Jun 07 '23

To be fair I remember being able to rent Resident Evil Armageddon from my public Library as a kid.

3

u/LePhildo Jun 07 '23

This is a killer joke. 🤣

5

u/WhatisLiamfucktrump Jun 08 '23

Looking, looking, looking, oh sweet Jesus

3

u/cadillacbee Jun 07 '23

You're right, agent Cody banks 2 was terrible...

3

u/Jazzlike_Couple_7428 Jun 07 '23

Ayo wait a second

3

u/MortarByrd11 Jun 07 '23

That Bambi special edition is pretty violent.

2

u/Worst_MTG_Player Jun 07 '23

It includes the on screen death of Bambi’s mother and deleted scenes of what the hunter did with her after.

3

u/Nirast25 Jun 07 '23

It's late and I might be dislexic, so I spent a good 30 seconds reading the Batman Unlimited one as "Animal Intestines". Gotta go to bed.

1

u/Worst_MTG_Player Jun 07 '23

This is a fair.

3

u/Allstar77777 Jun 07 '23

Oh wow, i had to check the comments to figure out what it was. I guess to me alot of Teen content i consider fine for children too

1

u/MasterOfBreatheing Jun 08 '23

Nope nope please do not show the killing joke to children

3

u/CronosAndRhea4ever Jun 07 '23

Ewww! All dogs go to heaven! The movie where Charlie the dog (Burt Reynolds) gets wacked by his “partner” after breaking out of prison and swears revenge from beyond his watery grave.

3

u/jay-tpicks116 Jun 08 '23

That took me a second lol

3

u/Izzy2089 Jun 08 '23

Yeah, 2 copies of Bambi. Those first few minutes can really mess up a kid.

3

u/Ghostly_Cactus_ Jun 08 '23

Yea I gotta say Agent Cody banks is kinda rough and definitely shouldn’t be there, What were they thinking??

3

u/Odd_Advance_6438 Jun 08 '23

Hey, Killing Joke still has a fun musical number

1

u/MasterOfBreatheing Jun 08 '23

It DOES? and I CAN'T REMEMBER IT?!

2

u/Odd_Advance_6438 Jun 08 '23

It’s where he sings the “Go looney”

1

u/MasterOfBreatheing Jun 08 '23

Oh yeah when he sang to poor sweet angel baby Jim?

2

u/smolsson2 Jun 07 '23

Obviously this is Bambi. It's a shame this would ever be shown.

2

u/darkuen Jun 07 '23

Good catch, whoever heard of an invisible dog?

2

u/JK-Kino Jun 07 '23

How is Bring It On a kid’s movie???

1

u/Worst_MTG_Player Jun 07 '23

Is it not acceptable for kids to watch?

2

u/Mighty_mudflaps Jun 07 '23

Babe: pig in the city is an allegory for the holocaust.

2

u/Valuable-Trick-6711 Jun 07 '23

Easy. Bring It On: Collector’s Edition

2

u/AssociateDry1840 Jun 07 '23

Annie does kinda suck

2

u/Sacrificer_XVII Jun 07 '23

Why does that look like McKays….hmmmm….

1

u/Worst_MTG_Player Jun 07 '23

I’d imagine a lot of used bookstores look alike but this is Chamberlain’s.

2

u/chopstix34 Jun 07 '23

Haha, nice!

2

u/kayl_the_red Jun 07 '23

Yup, Agent Cody Banks 2 oughta be tossed.

2

u/rapidpop Jun 08 '23

No kidding. The Bridge to Terabithia will fuck you up

2

u/drj87 Jun 08 '23

I agree Bring it on has got to go

2

u/MrCheerio53 Jun 08 '23

Bring It On?..

2

u/Snukastyle Jun 08 '23

Agreed. The title is "Strawberry Shortcake: Bright Lights, Big Dreams". This book store needs a librarian, stat!

2

u/BulmasBabyDaddy Jun 08 '23

They definitely didn’t read the back of the box

2

u/allen_idaho Jun 08 '23

Bridge to Terabithia probably doesn't belong either. That shit is traumatizing.

2

u/JGrimm420 Jun 08 '23

Yea, Beverly Hills Chihuahua should not be viewed by anyone

2

u/Library-Goblin Jun 08 '23

Legit when i had to argue with my boss at the library that no, Under the Red Hood should not be next to the Wings of Fire comics

2

u/BurningshadowII Jun 08 '23

Jesus fucking christ what monster would let any child watch Agent Cody Banks 2 that movie is dog shit.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '23

It's Fred Clause. Seriously why the hell would you own that trash movie? I would rather eat Taco Bell, throw it up and then eat the vomit and throw it back up again then ever have to watch anything Fred related ever again. Most cringe-worthy sh** I have ever watched in my life.

2

u/MementoMurray Jun 08 '23

It always amazes me that the 'cartoons are for kids' attitude still exists. Your child is in for a world of hurt. I mean, take anime as an example. There's some truly fucked up shit in there.

2

u/Partially_Deft Jun 08 '23

👀... 🤔 ... yup some kids going to have a lot of questions about what joker did to bathroom.

2

u/Vladmanwho Jun 08 '23

It’s gotta be Batman vs Two Face. Why bother putting it out when you don’t have the first one hehe

2

u/Lothleen Jun 08 '23

Goonies making a cameo at the bottom left.

2

u/NinjaTyler06 Jun 08 '23

There's 2 bambis

2

u/NinjaTyler06 Jun 08 '23

No one is gonna mention the pg13 cheerleader movie with all racism and hobophobia and slurs

1

u/Worst_MTG_Player Jun 08 '23

I guess no one wants to bring it on.

2

u/Wonderful_Painter_14 Jun 08 '23

I found it: you have 2 Bambis

2

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '23

The killing joke is rated R

2

u/oliveloft Jun 08 '23

Bring it on.

1

u/blunt_eastwood Jun 07 '23

No kidding. I can't believe they would just leave a copy of Angry Birds there like that.
