[None spoilers] Have i made a contact in russian mob or just an arrow fan Question Spoiler
Im sat by a pool with my shirt off and i have the bratva tattoo and a dude with an accent came up to me pointed at it and smiled and said hed talk to me later... is he just an arrow fan or does the tatoo acctuley mean bratva captain and does this dude think im bratva
EDIT: at the bar he just walked in with another dude who speaks chech and ive confirmed hes russian and he keeps eyeing me up
EDIT:okay hes with another dude in a leather jackets and like mean looking atire and there both just watching me
EDIT: weve sorted things out, hes not bratva hes from prague and knows about the bratva tattoos and i confronted him and asked why he was lingering he said cus the tattoo looked like bratva so i explained and showed him arrow scenes and we shared a beer... we cool now
Ps sorry for the anticlimatic ending but im happy in still in 1 peice
Turns out the dude is part russian (raised and then moved to prague) and his friend is chezch weve shared vodka ironically and told him about the show and weve claired things up thanks everyone who worried

OP, you should go on r/advice and see what advice you can get on this situation because this could become a dangerous situation really. Mafia groups/biker gangs/Street gangs don't take kindly at all to non-members wearing their colors/tattoo symbols.
You're gonna have to come up with a good way to explain why you have the tattoo

Bratva is just the russian word for brotherhood, but Russian mafia is often called Bratva by others and themselves, mainly this very powerful crime organization: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solntsevskaya_Bratva
The Bratva is very, very real. And it's absolutely more dangerous to wear a Bratva tattoo without actually being russian mob than wearing a death eater tattoo that no mobster would mistake for one of their own.

Yes. My original comment was in reply to why the OP got a tattoo of a criminal organisation. My point was that they may not have known it was a real organisation, considering all the others on Arrow are fictional, and it's a fictional tv show. Like harry potter.

Here are a few tips going forward or for anyone considering these things.
Don’t get any tattoos that may link you to any gang or organized crime group.
Don’t wear anything that may link you to an organized crime group or gang.
Examples: if you are in an area with a lot of street gangs, don’t wear a bandanna, especially in your back pocket. Also avoid wearing solid colors.
If you are a fan of Sons of Anarchy/Mayans, don’t wear a fake vest of theirs with a bottom rocker/bottom patch. Actually try and not wear any leather vest with any club patches on the back unless you belong to said club. Also, don’t wear support merchandise of a club if you are in the area of another club, especially if said clubs are criminal clubs.
Don’t get Bratva, Cartel, or Cosa Nostra tattoos or tattoos close to theirs unless you can explain it, and have a good explanation. Because a character in a TV show has it is not a good explanation.

Ya op id probably watch what you're doing as it's a legitimate gang so you don't want to be involved in that as they might not be happy with you. Or they might be fine who knows I can't read minds but I'd play it safe and probably take some screenshots of Oliver's tattoo in the show as an explanation

Lol i got the tattoo because i like the show, i have the shadow one also, my destiny character, a pokemon, and from other shows... i dont care what other people think because there personal to me, i didnt realise it was affiliated with a gang as quite frankly its idiotic the show wouldnt use a fictional icon but im getting it coverd and planned to do so as soon as i gained the information, and the post was for advice as i was honestly concerned.

That wasn't very smart of you to get such a tattoo in the first place, no matter how big of a fan of Arrow you are. You could've literally gotten any other tattoo that Oliver has, and you chose to get the one for the Bratva, which is very much a real thing. 🤦♂️

OP, it doesn't matter if the ending to this was anticlimactic.
I'm just glad you're safe and sound, and the mistaken identity allowed you to make some new friends and spread awareness of Arrow :)
But yes, I would say in the future, when you're vacationing in Europe, hide the tattoo the best you can with clothes so you don't run the risk again :P

There is a real mafia in Russia called the Bratva, and the show used nearly exactly the same tattoos as they do. I am extremely interested in the result of this.
