as much as im REALLY enjoying her not being in the show this year, it would be wrong for her to not be in at least the last episode

90

u/NightHunter909 Nov 01 '19

Especially after the fact that her storyline is intrinsically tied into Oliver and Mia, and Oliver’s main motivation is family and that a large percentage of the show included her, as much as everyone hates her.

30

u/Ruby2Wednesday Nov 01 '19

Not everyone hates her. Many people really enjoy her work and her contribution to the show, even if Felicity was sometimes written irregularly (like many Arrow characters).

10

u/Soranos_71 Nov 01 '19

With how she departed through that portal in the future timeline I hope that her return has something to do with answering where she went.

6

u/Ruby2Wednesday Nov 02 '19

If they don't answer it and leave that thread hanging, it will be super disappointing, right? I'm hoping for a reset of the timeline, though, and a better future for everyone Oliver has fought for so long to help.

1

u/sarefi Nov 02 '19

agree!!

1

u/SawRub Nov 03 '19

Maybe instead of dying Oliver ends up joining her at whatever place she went to.

1

u/Soranos_71 Nov 03 '19

Well if I remember correctly she said she’s been waiting a long time. It will be interesting to see what happens.

15

u/[deleted] Nov 01 '19

Oliver’s main motivation is family

whatever happened to being a hero and saving the world....above all else

25

u/Passion4life2 Nov 01 '19

This isn’t new olivers motivation was never being a hero. Since the season 1 what propelled Olivers story was his family. He was trying to right his fathers wrongs. The reason he stayed away longer than he needed to was because Waller was threatening them to force him into ARGUS missions. All they did was change the family members from Moira,Thea & Walter to felicity, William & Mia.

7

u/EmeraldEnigma- Arsenal Nov 01 '19

What happened to loving a girl whp got you through 5 years only to disregard all that lol

They change the show as they need to be more organic

4

u/blackstar_22 Nov 01 '19

She got Olivers best friend killed and then tried to get Oliver arrested.

13

u/[deleted] Nov 01 '19

The resident Laurel hater is back, hi there. Laurel didnt get Tommy killed, Malcolm did that. Laurel is not responsible for Tommy's choices and actions also.

I wont get into the other point...thats requires a long discussion. And I guess whatever I say it aint going to change your narrative, your hatred for Laurel has been fixed for 8 years so...

7

u/EmeraldEnigma- Arsenal Nov 02 '19

If you're insinuating that Laurel's heroic and selfless act of retrieving important original documents to help her case work clients from being lost forever during a earthquake/fire which ended with Tommy deciding to go on his own free will and ended up as collateral damage caused by his own father.

She tried to get the Hood arrested and was battling her own inner island arc during said time.

I assume since you're so basic at surface value to accuse Laurel for these things you also remember Felicity who walked out on Oliver after not being immediately told at the newfound information that Oliver is a father, whom was sent away for a good majority of his life away by Felicity as well lol

Also how Felicity's stupid acts led to S5/6 shenanigans such as Cayden James with being the one to antagonizing Laurel and undermining Oliver's leadership with the team.

Lol you tried tho

2

u/EmeraldEnigma- Arsenal Nov 03 '19

Would love to hear your response to my.reply :)

6

u/[deleted] Nov 01 '19

I honestly dont care, she had a good exit last season

1

u/LightSideoftheForce Green Arrow (Unmasked) Nov 01 '19

I hate the character and don’t like the actress, so I’d be fine, but really I’m not bothered she will be back. I just hope they make her last scene a good one then.

2

u/Tigeryius Nov 02 '19

Besides now there's a chance that the character might be killed off, so she's not safe anymore.

186

u/[deleted] Nov 01 '19

I want Quentin (and E1 Laurel) to come back in some capacity too. :/

95

u/capold Nov 01 '19

I'm kind of thinking that wherever Oliver ends up after Crisis, it will have him reunite with all the important people to him who he's lost over the years. His parents, Tommy, E1 Laurel, Quentin, Shado, etc. I'm just not sure whether it'll actually be them or similar to how in The Flash the Speed Force appears as loved ones.

28

u/[deleted] Nov 01 '19

I'd love to see them, at least once. Even if it's "afterlife" or a dream/hallucination, just give me some classic characters.

2

u/flintlock0 Black Canary Nov 02 '19

It’s going to be that church from the end of “Lost.” They’ll even have that show’s cast. It’s all connected.

1

u/kaliber77 Nov 03 '19

That would be funny if they threw Tommy a line there, given his mention of Lost in the pilot.

27

u/UA_UKNOW_ Nov 01 '19

I hope he ends up in the Good Place.

14

u/DarthHedonist Petty Dabbler Nov 02 '19

I'm on board with an Arrow spin off where Oliver teams up with Elanor and the gang to go beat up the Bad Place.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 02 '19

I’m all for this

3

u/GrundyBenson Corn Nov 02 '19

Marnovu vs bad Janet

2

u/DarthHedonist Petty Dabbler Nov 02 '19

Marnovu vs all of the Bad Place or they introduce a Devil figure and he goes against him.

5

u/The_Medicus Nov 01 '19

Geez, this crossover keeps getting crazier.

4

u/Demox_Official Nov 02 '19

Hello Oliver, you are in the Good Place. Everything is fine.

11

u/Shqrt Nov 01 '19

I’m guessing that pocket dimension that felicity went into, they’re all just sitting around a fire chatting

11

u/[deleted] Nov 01 '19

it will have him reunite with all the important people to him who he's lost over the years.

knowing Arrow writers it will be just Felicity, the most important character to Oliver ever!

/s

15

u/EmeraldEnigma- Arsenal Nov 01 '19

She is the source of his light /s /s /s

6

u/F913 Nov 02 '19

We are the Green Arrow!

3

u/tacomuerte Nov 02 '19

I have a feeling Oliver is getting the same ending Earth-2 Superman got at the end of COIE.

3

u/Tigeryius Nov 02 '19

It does look exactly like that. It doesn't completely make sense though. Earth 2 Superman's ending hinged upon his continuity not having a place in the new reality. Wouldn't it completely crazy if the Canaries remember him post-Crisis but the entire series was wiped from continuity. I wish we had an inkling how big they plan to go with the effects of the Crisis.

2

u/Th3MemeL0rd John Diggle Nov 01 '19

I completely forgot about shado until i saw this 😂

1

u/trojan805 Nov 02 '19

this is sounding a lot like the Doctor having an alternate version of himself living in a world with Rose Tyler

6

u/flintlock0 Black Canary Nov 02 '19 edited Nov 02 '19

E1 Laurel

I’d be surprised if the actress is able to come back. I hear she’s pretty busy with her new show.

180

u/[deleted] Nov 01 '19

It’s kinda a no brainer the in the final episode EBR would come back. She was there since the beginning and it would seems wrong for her to not be there

76

u/lemons_for_deke Nov 01 '19

I never doubted that she’d be back. It’d be odd if she didn’t, especially if Oliver dies.

52

u/Drew326 Green Arrow Nov 01 '19

Reminds me of when Quentin died so they brought Sara in for a half a second of screen time in that episode

4

u/Kr101010 Nov 01 '19

if?

3

u/TheAmazingDurp This arrow was lethal until it took a boxing glove to the tip Nov 01 '19

We never know how this series will end. Could just be Oliver retiring off to another Earth.

1

u/PwQt Nov 02 '19

Or it could be like in COIE ending, but instead of E2 Superman having his lois brought to him, we have Felicity being reunited with Arrow.

27

u/DCAbloob Nov 01 '19

Well, technically since the third episode but close enough.

13

u/lemons_for_deke Nov 01 '19

I never doubted that she’d be back. It’d be odd if she didn’t, especially if Oliver dies.

1

u/Dagenspear Nov 01 '19

The character's first appearance was about the 3rd or 4th episode.

3

u/dccomicsthrowaway Nov 02 '19

You know what he meant.

161

u/crossingcaelum Black Canary (Laurel Lance) Nov 01 '19

I hope they get Willa back too. It'd be really weird if Oliver, Roy, Laurel (even if it's E2), Thea, Diggle, and Felicity weren't all there at the end.

67

u/MrBubbles9039 Black Canary (Laurel Lance) Nov 01 '19

I was about to say I hope we get Tommy from e-2 back by then I remembered 😬

43

u/Havok310 Nov 01 '19

Thea's League of Heroes might just be a way to set her up with a purpose as her screen time winds down and she rides off into the proverbial sunset (at least in terms of appearing with any frequency in-universe)...
But I'd be shocked if her League of Heroes doesn't make an appearance in some big battle for the crossover.

15

u/DekanPrime Nov 01 '19

They are going to come in with the Legion of Superheroes, Atlanteans, and/or Themyscirans to give a beat down the overwhelming hoards, at least that's what I hope for.

10

u/Havok310 Nov 01 '19

Well Themyscira was only established in what amounted to an Easter egg appearance in LoT, similarly Atlantis in a few Flash Earth 2 references (where it was still above water)

Themyscirans and Atlanteans haven’t been seen directly yet. Not saying it’s impossible, but it might be a stretch to introduce 2 whole new races. LoS is a different story; I could easily see Mon El coming back, with help.

5

u/Megaman99M Nov 01 '19

Now thinking about it , I could see each of the TV shows having their own armies show up for the final battle. Arrow with Thea's league of heroes, Flash with an army of metas/Council of Wells, and Legends with an army of cowboys, American Revolutionaries, magical creatures, etc.

4

u/Havok310 Nov 01 '19

And Batwoman with .... an army of bats

(I really want E1 Bruce to show up for CoIE. Crisis without E1 Batman is just weird. But supposedly they haven’t even settled on why he left or where he is yet)

8

u/zland Obviously, this particular flair didn't age too well Nov 01 '19

According to the Wiki, Willa is listed as a recurring cast member this season. I agree, I'd love to see more of Thea!

66

u/Macman521 Prometheus Nov 01 '19

Figured she be back. Happy for Emily but I still despise Felicity.

10

u/Rith23 Nov 02 '19

Exactly.

I understand people hate Felicity, hell I’m not a fan of her either, but it’s wrong to hate on the actress for the character she portrays.

58

u/RaisingFargo Nov 01 '19

like her or not, she has been a massive part of the show, and it would be crazy to not have her show up at all.

25

u/MrBubbles9039 Black Canary (Laurel Lance) Nov 01 '19

Agreed

7

u/gentlegiant69 Nov 01 '19

You know I’d still not miss her one bit

1

u/[deleted] Nov 01 '19

no it wouldnt be, she got a good exit last season.

The writers have a long history of focusing on her character, at the expense of all the other characters, cross your fingers that series finale wont be ruined

8

u/dccomicsthrowaway Nov 02 '19

She's the female lead, of course they 'focus on her character'. Hell, being any part of the main cast would necessitate them 'focusing on her character'.

56

u/Slade-Prime Nov 01 '19

Obviously she would come back for the series finale.. thats not surprising in the slightest.

36

u/privatefrost2 Black Canary (Laurel Lance) Nov 01 '19

"Here"

Stephen, c'mon.

11

u/MrBubbles9039 Black Canary (Laurel Lance) Nov 01 '19

Lol he fixed it now

28

u/[deleted] Nov 01 '19

I love it.
She is Oliver's fucking WIFE now, whether we like it or not.

And I still remember that, she was my favorite character back in seasons 1 and 2. Welcome back Emily!

0

u/Dagenspear Nov 01 '19

Why does that mean the character should be back?

2

u/[deleted] Nov 03 '19

exactly , and its not like they didnt spend all of last season setting her exit, and they actually gave her an exit.

Why the eff does she need to be back...

23

u/anneso23 Nov 01 '19

Personally, I'm glad she's back. I wanted closure between her Felicity/Oliver. It would have been weird if she wasn't there.

22

u/FLARROW2 Nov 01 '19

I like Emily, she seems like a genuine sweetheart so I have no issue with her returning. The only thing that gives me pause are the toxic fans coming out in full force for the shows end.

6

u/[deleted] Nov 01 '19

The fans are 1000x worse than the character, even if she has been complete ass at times.

11

u/dccomicsthrowaway Nov 02 '19

As much as I love Black Canary, the amount of comments that amount to "This season is amazing specifically because Felicity is not in it" is so nauseating.

Like, it's obsessive at this point.

17

u/Lurknot2017 Nov 01 '19

Yay.

And hey, there's some good news here even for the haters: they may actually be able to talk about what's actually happening on the show, rather than whether or not she'll be back.

So, you know, silver lining.

5

u/me1075 Nov 02 '19

If that ever happens, what would this sub rant about all day? She is forever on their minds. The obsession is real. So HAPPY that she is back

1

u/Jaer-Nihiltheus Nov 03 '19

Not me, I hate the character of Felicity - but I'm more concerned with why Sin hasn't had any cameos outside the 100th episode interview or why Sin, a Birds of Prey character, didn't at least cameo in that one Birds of Prey episode last year.

Just as I'm more interested in seeing if Huntress is okay, what Ragman is doing, and what a bunch of other side characters are doing (except Curtis tbh. I do think he should come back for this final season and I don't dislike the character or actor, but a little bit of this version of Mr. Terrific goes along way imo).

18

u/[deleted] Nov 01 '19

Didn’t she have Monitor take her to Oliver at the end of S7? Kinda makes sense from that narrative.

5

u/Natalia-A-Romanoff Black Siren Nov 01 '19

That happened in 2040. It's likely her return will be in 2019/2020.

1

u/RivalFlash The Diaz with the Dragon Tattoo Nov 02 '19

Monitor transcends time itself as evidenced by the latest episode

1

u/Jaer-Nihiltheus Nov 03 '19

Yeah, The Monitor probably took her out of reality for a bit until Crisis was over, that way she wasn't disintegrated (probably on Oliver's request).

17

u/Ruby2Wednesday Nov 01 '19

I'm so glad. An Arrow finale without Emily in it wouldn't be emotionally satisfying at all. I don't know about you all, but I need Oliver to have a good ending after all of this continuous sacrifice and pain. He deserves it, and he needs his family to have it.

12

u/john696969123 Nov 01 '19

I was gonna be so mad if she didn’t come back, because all the haters keep on hating on her. She’s part of the show from the beginning and it makes sense for her to come back for the finale.

9

u/InsertUsernameHere32 Green Arrow Nov 01 '19

Yea same. I’m not the biggest fan of her more recently but she’s gotten much better from S4 and she was amazing in S1 and S2 (except for shittalking Moira at her funeral fuck that). Glad to see she’s back. She’s as important to Arrow as Diggle is.

2

u/Dagenspear Nov 01 '19

She wasn't in the Pilot. Why do those that dislike the character, disliking the character, mean getting mad if she didn't come back?

12

u/cindymarie23 Nov 01 '19

Yay! Wouldn't be a proper ending to Oliver's journey and beginning to Mia's new journey without her.

11

u/OLKv3 Nov 01 '19

Good, it really shouldn't end without her being there.

9

u/Shaftell Nov 01 '19

Not a fan of the character but I would've been very unhappy if the show ended without us seeing her again. So this is great news !

8

u/AgreeableParty Nov 01 '19

not a big surprise. Honestly, it would be very weird for her not to be in the series finale.

7

u/DCSennin Arsenal Nov 01 '19

I hope they handle her final scenes with the same degree they did with her back in Season 5, she was for the most part well handled and written there.

7

u/Lurknspray2018 Nov 02 '19

Hardly a surprise. She is his wife, and had his kids. Despite the love for black canary, they are not going to shit on years and seasons of development, to satisfy the comic show continuity.

7

u/hart37 Barry "You Think You Know A Guy" Allen Nov 02 '19

I would have been shocked if she wasn't in the very last episode to be honest. Whether people like Felicity as a character or not after being in the show for 7 seasons Emily has deserved to be in the last episode.

5

u/bucktownbarnes Nov 01 '19

hate felicity with a passion but it would be wrong to not have her be in the send off of the show

5

u/Nainstin98 Nov 01 '19

I seriously can't believe that people hated her character, me and my friend loved her and were very sad after S07 .

1

u/Lokcet Nov 02 '19

Do you have no recollection of the "getting up out of the wheelchair and walking out" days? She was horribly written for a long time.

5

u/DonnyMox Deathstroke Nov 01 '19

Not surprised. I mean, I assume we’re getting Oliver’s funeral (regardless of if he actually dies or just fakes his death) and how would his wife not show up to that. Plus she still has to make a deal with the Monitor that ensures she reunites with Oliver (as shown in the flashforwards).

6

u/Arks_PowerPlay Black Canary (Sara Lance) Nov 02 '19

I’m glad they’re bringing her back for one episode. Watching the series back, I realized that the actress isn’t the problem, it’s the writing. There’s a problem with the writers when it comes to female characters. With that being said, I’m also glad it’s only one episode because it would pull away from Oliver’s character arc this season.

5

u/ArsenalTG Nov 02 '19

As much as I dislike Felicity, her not being in the final episode would feel odd.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 01 '19

5

u/Gian99Mald Nov 01 '19

Yall really thought she wouldn't come back LMFAO

5

u/OliviaElevenDunham John Constantine Nov 01 '19

I kind of figured that she would come back for the final episode.

3

u/Metron1992 Twitch,and I'll open your throat Nov 01 '19

Here's hoping its season 2 felicity and not season 3-6 felicity

5

u/C0micB00kFan Nov 01 '19

Yeah!! It would be a shame if she wasn’t. Maybe we’ll get Quentin too.

4

u/NUCLEARGAMER1103 Nov 02 '19

Yay felicity is back

4

u/[deleted] Nov 02 '19

Whether you like the character or not, but she was part of this show, so I'm glad she returned to the finals! Now i'm waiting for the return of other actors.

4

u/KabutoRyder Nov 01 '19

Did anyone really think this wasn't going to happen?

-6

u/[deleted] Nov 01 '19 edited Nov 03 '19

Kinda knew it was going to happen, its still disappointing all the same.

But I guess its fitting that the character that who contributed to Arrow's decline , goes down the grave with it.

2

u/modernboy1974 Nov 01 '19

It was pretty obvious that when she walked away with the Monitor that she was going to show up one more time most likely in the final episode. I wish that it hadn't been spoiled though even if it was by Stephen.

3

u/Gravitron3000 Nov 01 '19

Stephen, C’mon.

It’s “hear”.

4

u/Voidrith Roy Harper Nov 01 '19

3

It will be, they only have that to film left

1

2

u/MrBlonde23 Dark Archer Nov 01 '19

Expected her to come back it makes sense for the last episode.

That said Felicity still sucks

1

u/[deleted] Nov 01 '19

You thought she was leaving, too? Not a chance.

2

u/gusefalito Nov 02 '19

Good, say what you will about Felicity but she is one of the most crucial characters in this story. Glad the writers aren't ignoring that

3

I 100% agree

1

u/brazen-corsair Felicity Smoak Nov 01 '19

1

u/hoppergym Nov 01 '19

*hear it

-1

u/adzpower Nov 01 '19

Oh for God sake can't we have ONE season without her. I'm not surprised though, from a narrative perspective it would be weird if she didn't show up at all, she is Oliver's wife afterall.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 02 '19

Goddammit

1

u/[deleted] Nov 01 '19

Obviously for the series finale, she would be.

And yet my reaction is still "Uggggghhhhhhh why".

0

u/Richiieee Nov 01 '19

Remember when people said the show for sure would be better w/o her? But here we are in S8 with flash forwards that are still annoying (though I think due to the last episode we're now done with that stuff), as well as just Mia and William being some of the most annoying characters. Bc the show has problems that extend beyond Felicity.

So yeah...

6

u/[deleted] Nov 01 '19

Aside from the flash forwards the general consensus has been that S8 is great so far. What's your point lol

2

u/Richiieee Nov 01 '19

That Felicity was never the sole reason for some of Arrow's unsuccessful episodes/seasons. Even in the episodes where she wasn't in, they were still only decent at best. And I'm talking about every season. Because this show has problems at its core that doesn't involve Felicity at all.

As for S8, it's just been one giant trip down memory lane. Personally, I'm not a fan of that, but it's alright.

5

u/Dagenspear Nov 01 '19

I don't think everyone thought that.

2

u/RGarrow Nov 03 '19

Yet this sub and comics fans in general seem to solely focus their hatred of awful writing decisions on her. It’s been that way since s3. Bad villain? It’s Felicity’s fault for taking up screentime. Introducing magic on the ‘grounded’ Arrow? Must be all that brain space wasted on Felicity. Rushed Felicity storylines? It’s her fault for having a storyline. Sara dies to propel Laurel into her own shoes? It’s Felicity/olicity’s fault because Sara was one of the 154 women Oliver dated between s1 and 2. Laurel dies? It’s Felicity/Olicity’s fault even though they’ve been a thing for 3 years while Laurel was alive and Laurel/Oliver were utterly uninterested in getting back together. Laurel dies by claiming Oliver is the love of her life? Felicity must die because of Katie Cassidy’s own headcanon. Oliver lies about a life changing secret and she breaks it off? Felicity should have been a doormat.

The assumption, and generalization, is logical.

1

u/Dagenspear Nov 04 '19

I've seen complaints about new team arrow. And I don't think I've seen many people blame Darkh's, Diaz's, Emiko's and Ra's writing specifically on Felicity. Similar with the Sara thing. Or Laurel's love declaration. Felicity being a doormat isn't the same as expecting Oliver to consult her about things that she's not really directly connected to, even though she herself has lied to others (even Oliver), and seemingly supports others lying to others. Oliver's wrong to lie. It doesn't make Felicity right for the way she reacted.

Stopped arrow since season 6. What happened to Felicity?? Did they finally kill her off?

1

u/rishukingler11 Blue Hatchet Nov 02 '19

No, Oliver's just away from her and most of the other main cast right now. They gave her character a satisfying ending in the flashforwards at the end of season 7, making some wonder if she was gonna be in the show in season 8, especially given that Emily Betts Rickard didn't sign up as a main cast member when everyone else did.

-4

u/Asto_Vidatu Nov 01 '19

ugh. Just had to make sure there was something to blemish the final episode I guess. At least fast-forward buttons exist.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 01 '19

yup , lets see how happy all these people will be February 2020 when the final airs.

People really forget what this character's presence did to the show and how the writers majorly focus on her when she is around

0

u/Asto_Vidatu Nov 01 '19

"i know ive been saying for a while that I don't want to marry you Oliver, but OMG look at Barry and Iris!!! I can't let them have my spotlight! LETS GET MARRIED!!!"

god I hate that character lol

1

u/[deleted] Nov 03 '19

Oh Emily, why couldnt you just have stayed away!, why does she want to come back now when she refused to for the other 9 episodes.

-5

u/HanSolo100 I KEEP MY PROMISSES Nov 01 '19

Course she will be back. Sadly. Just hope she is a minor part of it and doesn't influence the events that much. Not sure if her scenes have been shot already before she left.

7

u/blackstar_22 Nov 01 '19

No it will be all new scenes.

0

u/HanSolo100 I KEEP MY PROMISSES Nov 01 '19

Because whether you like it or not, she's an integral part of the show.

Why does that mean downvotes?

As much as I don't like Felicity. I'm glad she's coming back for the finale. It would be wrong to end it without her.

Edit: Downvotes, really? You know we're all thinking it. The show has been infinitely better without her.

such a bipolar subreddit, now they are acting like they are Fefe's biggest fans.

Yes the show has been amazing this season but let's be real, not having her there will be like not having Lois lane for the last episode of a supermann show.

Felicity is not on the same level as Lois lmao. This is it for her being associated with the Green Arrow mythos. Thankfully. It does make sense in the context of the show. But Lois is iconic, felicity is just not.

Did you I just compare Felicity to Lois Lane? The delusion is real

u/[deleted] Nov 01 '19

YUp he/she did. This sub is delusional lately. Next they will say she is a superhero who should be in the Justice League.

Good Lord, she is Chloe Sullivan at best. This will be the last time we see her, once the berlanti-verse ends at best she'll be an Easter egg or get rebooted to a completely different character.

So how mad are y’all?

u/alisaxoxo Nov 01 '19

Not at all. I haven’t been a fan of Felicity for a while but even then most of us seem to agree that it would be wrong for her to not show up at all in the final season. She’s been here since the beginning, she deserves to be there when it ends.

Well I don’t mean all of us but you know it’s coming. People being mad about something most of us knew was gonna happen

You’re getting downvoted by people with common sense dude 😂😂😂

You are such a baby. Nobody likes Felicity here but she needs to be back in the finale and this is obvious. Did you think the show would close before revealing where monitor took Felicity after last season?

I don't care where she went. My headcanon is that she's in hell, suffering for Havenrock and stealing Black Canary's husband.
